    Description

We are Chereyne and Brett. Our time is shared between Myoko Japan and Kingscliff Australia.

Family vacations in the Snowy Mountains NSW with our two boys was the beginning of our connection with winter sports and the energy of the mountains when they are covered in snow. 25 years later that connection has evolved into a seasonal lodge business in the Japanese alps which we have operated since 2020.

Brett loves snowboarding, especially in the backcountry. At the lodge during the winter months he is often busy clearing snow or doing guest transfers but also has great information on local weather and snow conditions, ski resort choices, snowshoeing, sightseeing and backcountry activities around Myoko.

Chereyne is a qualified chef who also works as a teacher of Hospitality, Tourism and Events in Australia. Focusing on fresh seasonal produce sourced locally, Chereyne has 35 years of hospitality experience that ensures incredible healthy meals and a wine list to match. Assistance with travel planning to and from Myoko, local onsen choices and sightseeing are all questions that Chereyne is happy to help with.

Myoko Kogen has been a popular destination for winter tourism for over a hundred years but the area has way more to offer than just skiing and snowboarding. You will be able to learn about the history of the area, local foods and specialties, as well as enjoy the beautiful natural surroundings, powder snow, hot spring baths, ski resorts, ancient shrines and amazing waterfalls. Stay with us and experience the highlights of Myoko. During winter and early spring an average of 13 meters of powder snow blankets the terrain of the local ski resorts. The well known Akakura Kanko is just 6 minutes away with 5 other ski resorts within 15 minutes of our lodge. Visiting towns like Nagano or Joetsu for galleries, museums or shopping is also an option for adventurous days off.
