    Description

We are a family of three and we live at a lovely quinta close to Tomar. The quinta is work in progress, we live here with our little boy, four dogs, chickens, and lots of visitors in a tiny hamlet with very nice and sweet Portuguese neighbours.
More precisely, we are Laurens & Evelien, a Dutch couple who moved to Portugal in summer 2020. We bought an old farm and former lagar, a local olive press, with land. We are working on many projects at the same time: the house needs a lot of work, we want to largely sustain ourselves with what we grow on the land, there is yearly work to be done to keep the property fire safe and many other tasks! By having people over through platforms like Workaway, but also friends and family, we strive to build a sustainable, friendly community.
Projects we are working on at the moment are growing vegetables, building a wood workshop, and preparing the renovation of a ruin (the former eira, or thrashing floor). We will rebuild it with natural materials, in the old fashioned way to revive it to its former glory.

We are quite close to the city of Tomar, the Nabão river, generally quiet, rustic and beautiful countryside. If you love a proper hike and such this region has a lot to offer.
