Great Guy, would recommend!

Jamie is a very friendly young woman, curious about the culture she's visiting and genuinely interested in the people she's staying with. She is very independent, seeking out things she might enjoy, planning her days and arranging her travel. She kept her environment tidy and was very proactive in offering help around the house. She delighted my daughter with a gift of Harry Potter lego, and me with some delicious Taiwanese tea. My daughter and I were both touched by the lovely personalized thank you cards she left us at the end of her stay.

Nicola was a wonderful volunteer at our Coliving. From the very beginning, Nico worked in a very professional and reliable way, always being polite, respectful, and friendly with our guests. He was a great help in our daily operations and consistently went above and beyond what was asked of him, always offering extra support whenever it was needed. Nico integrated very quickly with our team, showing a great attitude, initiative, and strong teamwork skills. His positive energy and willingness to help made a real difference in our community. We truly appreciated having him with us and would be more than happy to welcome him back anytime. We highly recommend Nico to other hosts on Workaway — he would be a valuable addition to any project.

It was our first Workaway, and it totally blew our expectations out of the water. It felt like a second family with the other Workawayers and housemates. Bartolo's rooms are super modern, cozy, and really well-furnished. Lunch was cooked every day, and like 80-90% of the stuff came straight from their garden. We hung out together outside and in the community kitchen by a cozy fire most evenings. We drank beer and wine and had awesome chats about everything, from political philosophy to just plain fun. We really hope we can come back soon for another adventure and we 100% recommend Bartolo. Cheers, Lisa and Lorenzo

My experience here has been everything I could have hoped for. Here there are more than 400 dogs ready to welcome you and love you unconditionally. The work is intense but highly rewarding, with so many souls that warm your heart. The shifts are relaxed, though, and besides the daily tasks of cleaning and feeding the dogs, there is always time for cuddle sessions and walks. The place is beautiful, well-structured, and you immediately feel part of something noble and important. After my first month of volunteering, I collaborated with this foundation as a volunteers’ coordinator, having the opportunity to play an important role both for the dogs and for the other volunteers at the center. Over these months I have learned so much—not only about dogs but also about the realities of running a shelter, the challenges of managing a place with limited resources, and always prioritizing animal welfare. It was such an enlightening experience that I am now studying canine behaviour, and I hope that one day I will be able to do what this small foundation fights so hard to achieve every day: working on the front lines for the wellbeing of dogs and raising as much awareness as possible about stray animals and the importance of sterilization. I recommend this experience to everyone!

I’m so happy to have spent time there, you’ll for sure love it. I stayed in Fusa for a total of 3weeks, two weeks in the school with my friend Tim. We helped the teacher with their English classes, I was mostly helping preschool to 8th grade and I loved it. I had to go around the class, see who I could help and try to keep the subject about the class because they are suuuper curious. Which was really really cute. You’ll enter the class and they will run to give you a hug, be super attentive of all your stories and show you all the cool stuff they have. We cooked our breakfast and then we had lunch with the kids and for dinner we could have leftovers and the groceries to cook our own thing if we preferred ! After my friend left I stayed a week with Seb and his family in the finca. They are fantastic cook haha I really liked to have lunch all together and share stories, they’ll really make you feel like home. Seb was amazing and he make delicious coffee 😎 he will teach you a looot about the whole process ofc and will give you an amazing tour of the finca, explaining every step and everything there is. You’ll also learn about the history of the country, his finca, the town,… you can really talk about everything with him and have great exchange of knowledge. In the finca I helped him with the design of the packaging of his coffee brand and went to see how he roast the beans. He is really open to new ideas, listen and takes time to discuss about what he’d like. But I have to warn you, he might make you addicted to açaí, which out of Fusa, will be a really pricey addiction haha. Thanks Seb for everything 🙏

I had a really great time with Tom. He was very kind, welcoming, and always made sure everything was running smoothly. I really appreciated his help around the mobil-home it made everything much easier. He was friendly and easygoing, and it was nice to spend time chatting with him. Thank you, Tom, for your trust and for making my stay so comfortable. It was a really enjoyable part of my workaway experience!

I had an incredible time at the Mill House with George, Barbara, Gwen, and Ailbah. From day one, I felt very welcome and part of the household. I really enjoyed helping with all sorts of tasks around the house and garden, from cutting wood and filling containers to cleaning the chicken and goose coops. It was hard work at times, but always interesting and satisfying! Barbara was amazing showing me so many little tricks around the house and garden. George was incredible in the kitchen, and I loved seeing him at work and tasting all the delicious meals he prepared. Gwen and Ailbah were a lot of fun, keeping me busy with games, football, and helping out in the garden they really made the days enjoyable and lively. Thank you so much George and Barbara for your kindness, trust, and for making me feel at home. It was an amazing workaway, and I will always remember my time at the Mill House!

Pasamos dos semanas en casa de Cris y Aleja, ¡y qué felicidad! El lugar es absolutamente increíble, enclavado en el corazón de las montañas. Cris y Aleja nos recibieron con una gran calidez y una amabilidad excepcional. Compartieron con nosotros su saber hacer de manera muy generosa. Vivimos momentos maravillosos juntos, entre conversaciones apasionantes y muchas risas. La comida estaba deliciosa. Gracias a Cris, aprendimos muchísimo: a cultivar el huerto, a elaborar aceites esenciales, a plantar café… Una experiencia enriquecedora e inspiradora que recomendamos al 100 %.

I stayed for about one month at Dirk’s guesthouse and had a very positive experience. Dirk is a very attentive person, easy to communicate with, and always concerned about making sure I was doing well and felt comfortable. The work itself is calm and well organized, and he gave me complete freedom to manage my own schedule, which made the daily routine very easy and enjoyable. The location is also great: a pleasant and peaceful area, yet close to the city, about a 10-minute bike ride away. I’m very grateful for this experience and would definitely recommend this host to anyone looking for a respectful, flexible, and welcoming environment.

Pasamos 10 días y ¡nos encantó! El lugar es magnífico, en la montaña, con hermosas cascadas y una vista espectacular de las montañas. Juan y Rosario son muy amables y están siempre dispuestos a compartir su saber hacer. Pasamos momentos increíbles con ellos, en los que conversamos mucho, pero también reímos muchísimo. Rosario nos cocinó platos deliciosos todos los días. Compartimos momentos muy agradables y llenos de calidez. Así que, si tienen la oportunidad de pasar por el refugio, ¡no lo duden!

My experience with Bruno and Ana is something I will carry with me for a long time. The words I could use to describe this place would never fully express the gratitude I feel for having been there. Instead of listing routines or tasks, I would rather share my personal experience. The very first thing I noticed upon arriving was the deep sense of peace this place radiates. From the moment I walked through the door, I knew I would feel truly comfortable here. Even on days when the work was intense or long — especially because some tasks were very weather-dependent and we had to align with the olive mill schedule — I never once felt pushed beyond my limits. Everything felt fair, respectful, and well held. Bruno and Ana communicated very clearly what they needed from us as volunteers, while also expressing how important it was to them that the atmosphere between everyone remained loving, mindful, and respectful. This clarity helped me immensely to know where I stood, and honestly inspired me many times. Their way of communicating is something we could all learn from. I absolutely loved working with my hands. Coming from a life that is often very theoretical and academic, the garden work felt like pure therapy. Harvesting olives, slowly building routine, and learning something new every day was deeply grounding and joyful for me. What I received in return for my work went far beyond food and accommodation. Bruno and Ana opened their home — their safe space — to people who were strangers at first. That requires trust, generosity, and a big heart. They not only offered incredibly delicious and nourishing food and a beautiful place to stay, but also invited us again and again into shared moments: singing together, shared meals, game nights, and morning rituals in their magical temple space. These moments created a sense of belonging that is truly rare. I deeply admire Bruno and Ana for their faith in the wonders of this world and for the inspiring path they are walking to bring more love, beauty, and awareness into it. If you are longing to feel more connected to nature, to meet beautiful and genuine people, to learn about garden wisdom, then this place is absolutely right for you. This is a very fun place to volunteer that also feels like a home. In the winter there are not so many guests so there is a beautiful family vibe. This may mean that there is a 2 week volunteering limit at this time of year. Every meal of the day some of the volunteers will cook insanely tasty food, but if that is not your forte then there are also cleaning or handy(wo)man duties to do instead. Duties are very organised in a rota based system. I had the opportunity to live and share with really beautiful people here (other long-term travellers and cyclists especially), I am very grateful for this time in my life. I will see you soon :)

6 stars Super Host! A Lovely family, i felt right at home from day one. Heidi is one of the kindest, empathetic person I have ever met, she takes a genuine interest in you as person. A joy to have spent time with her, Hanso and Matteo over dinner or for a coffee time chat. It was also amazing to meet Soren and his family who live in the adjacent house. The place is stunning, bordering a section of the forest and immersed in silence and tranquillity and I really enjoyed working in and around the garden. A big thank you, I hope I will be able to see them again in future.

I stayed for two weeks at Luc and Sylvie's place and it was wonderful! I was looking for peace and quiet and that's exactly what i found at their home, alongside a beautiful, charming town where i enjoyed going for walks. Luc and Sylvie where always super friendly, caring and resourceful! and they made me feel at home right away! The town is very well connected and you will get more than enough time to get around and visit other places! I had a lovely time and can't recommend Luc and Sylvie's home enough! Thank you for having me!

We really appreciate and forward A massive THANK YOU to the incredible Marco from Italy who spent days with us in Gomba district supporting the children, staff and community in different ways. The kindness, smiles, hospitality to the kids was excellent. Thanks for participating in the making and cooking of Italian dish called gnocchi together with the children. We enjoyed every moment of your staying with us so much and we learned a lot from you. Your presence was a blessing to us as a foundation. Thanks very much and the door is open for you to come back.

Bernadette was a pleasure to have on our Team. She is friendly, efficient, smart, learns fast and very responsible. She was great working on a team and very helpful. We would definitely receive her back anytime to work with us which means we would highly recommend her to any other volunteer adventure. I stayed with Jonas and Elisa's family for one month. It was a fantastic experience. They're both good at explaining clearly what is expected of the person doing the workaway. I felt that they were always respectful and if there was something they need to tell me, they told me in a polite away, Jonas also has an adult daughter who lives at home who's really friendly and willing to talk to the Workawayer. The work was from 3pm - 7:30pm and it was a mixture of housework (laundry, cleaning the floors and the furniture) and spending time with their son Angel. Angel has a great imagination, it was fun playing with him. We bonded over a love of Harry Potter. The accommodation is a small room in the basement, the basement has it's own door so the Workawayer has plenty of privacy. Jonas and Elisa live on the metro line which connects their neighbourhood to the beautiful Granada, where there's lots to see and do.

I had an amazing time staying with Pawel, Emma, Tadgh, and Conan. From the very first day, they made me feel welcome and part of the family. I really enjoyed helping around the house, whether it was small tasks, tidying up, or helping the kids with homework and games. Pawel and Emma were both really friendly and kind, and it was fun to see their passion for music, art, and history. Tadgh and Conan were full of energy and so much fun to play with soccer and board games ! I really appreciated their enthusiasm and the chance to practice my English with them. The house is in such a beautiful location near the Atlantic Way, and I loved exploring the area, especially the bay close to the house. The workaway experience was relaxed but interesting, and I learned a lot from helping around the house and with the children. Thank you so much Pawel and Emma for your hospitality, your trust, and the drives you offered. It was a great experience, and I hope to see you all again someday!
