We are a registered nonprofit community based organization working to support the welfare of disadvantaged and less privileged children in Gomba district of Uganda. We provide them with love, hope, basic education, scholastic materials, self-reliance skills, clothes and food. We are Samuel and wife Lucy both teachers by profession and are the co-founders of this organization. As teachers of primary school, we work full time with children and we strive to see that they attain basic education.

Children in Gomba district face many challenges that hinder them from going to school. Like poverty, moving long distances to schools, lack of scholastic materials like books, pens, pencils, geometry sets, school uniforms, shoes, clothes and school bags to carry their books. When it comes to the girl-child, they lack things like sanitary pads and this can make a girl stay at home for a week without coming to school until she gets out of that period. This makes many of those school going children to drop out and do not complete their studies.

Organization Vision: To support that disadvantaged child in Gomba district become a better and responsible citizen tomorrow.
Mission: To help the less privileged children in Gomba district with these small items that can make them achieve their goals in life.

Through our friends the volunteers, together we are able to get scholastic materials, food and other basic necessities for these children and they attend school with confidence and a smile on their faces. A part from classroom teaching activities, we promote kids talents through sports and agricultural skills so that they can supplement on the food grown at their respective homes and schools hence reducing the hunger syndrome. We also instill in our children the importance of respecting nature, care for the environment, and actively participate in tree planting initiatives.

We call upon volunteers that are willing to support the disadvantaged children in rural schools to come and support us. As we join hands together, we can change the learning environment of these children, their thinking about matters of the world, and giving them hope plus the purpose of living.

We work in primary schools of Gomba district but if a volunteer wants to get the experience of a high school, we can link you up to the ones in the community. Our schools are all located in rural village areas where we have no electricity. But our volunteers sleep in Kanoni town which has electricity, tapped water and internet network. We use Okada (motorcycles) to travel to schools and coming back to Kanoni town daily.

In case a visitor wants something special, restaurants are available in Kanoni town for those in need of special meals at a small cost.

  • Algo más...

    Algo más...

We have our daily community local market where volunteers can buy some fresh fruits like mangoes, pineapples, oranges, carrots, tomatoes and so many others.

Ugandan beers taste so good with an excellent smell, so some volunteers tend to get more excited and drink too much. As a visitor, you should drink responsibly because sometimes we get embarrassed to carry you back to your room.

Women in Uganda love so much the white colour, when they see the “Muzungu man” they treat him like a King who has visited the area. Please don’t allow many women in your room. Not everybody can be trusted.

Every volunteer is free to create friends, but also women volunteers should not allow every man to enter your room for your security. Please take time to select the best and trusted friend.

Some volunteers feel pity for the local people and they go the extra mile of borrowing money in form of starting capital to these community members without the ‘Host’ knowing about it. When these people fail to pay back then the one who gave out the money narrates the whole story to the host and ask him to intervene. When I was in Uganda I borrowed this person money, please tell him to pay back. Sometimes it becomes difficult for me to pressure a community member to pay back when I did not know the agreement you made at first.

My piece of advice to the volunteers is that, we welcome all the support to the community members, the children, the women and elderly but please do not borrow them money. This is very risky and many of them cannot afford to pay back. Please protect your image plus that of the organization.

There is an opportunity for investment:
We welcome those Workawayers who would like to do serious business investment in Uganda. Please be open with us and we take you to the right government offices that will give you the necessary support needed for you to invest in Uganda.

Please don’t try to do hidden agreements with some wise community members who will sweet talk you to join them and do business hence putting your money at risk. Uganda is a good country that give maximum support to the investors.
