Hello! My name is Nick and I'm from the USA (Boston area). Beginning in 2024, I started backpacking around Asia (Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Philippines, Nepal and Malaysia) totaling 10 months of travel over two trips.

I am very passionate about sustainability and agriculture. I also love to immerse myself in the local culture by staying with families and learning the language and cuisine. To date, I've volunteered on three homestay/farms across Nepal and Thailand, which have been some of the most amazing experiences of my life.

In my free time in the USA, I have my own garden where I've learned how to grow dozens of different fruits and veggies. I'm also a builder, and love to complete home renovations (I can paint, frame walls, and do much more). Working in gardens/farms and trekking the forest/mountains are my happy places, but I also enjoy getting outside of my comfort zone and trying new experiences.

Although I don't yet have the experience, I absolutely love working with kids, and hope to find opportunities working at schools and teaching English. I'd also love the opportunity to volunteer at a hostel; I'm very social and love making new friends from around the world.

I have four years of experience managing my own vegetable garden, and seven years of experience volunteering my time with a friend who lives completely off grid, growing 100% of his own food. I have experience fertilizing beds, planting seeds, plugging mushroom logs, harvesting, and more. I've completed six farm stay Workaways in my travels across Thailand, Nepal, Mexico and Costa Rica. I also have experience working in hostels and teaching English, both from my time traveling Colombia.

I've also spent most of my life working on DIY construction/home renovation activities. This year, I built a greenhouse in my backyard with lumber, PVC pipe and greenhouse plastic, and three years ago I renovated the interior of my house including framing, electrical, plumbing, painting, finish work, etc. I love taking on new construction/garden projects in my free time.

I have four siblings, so I have a lot of experience with kids.

I am very interested in doing local hikes and exploring nature wherever I'm at. Although I love to experience new cities, it's important to me that I get quality time in nature, exploring natural wonders rather than just manmade ones.
