Description
Hey, I´m Merle and I´m from Hamburg, Germany. By the end of June I´m going to finish my federal volunteer service in the field of experiential education. The last year I worked with mostly children and young adults to improve their social skills and encourage them to leave their comfort zone and step right into their learning zone.
Before I started the federal volunteer service I already obtained my drivers license and finished school after 11th grade.
I love going outside and watch the birds fly by the wind. When I was young, my father took me to Norway or South Tyrol during our six-week summer vacation, where I fell in love with the mountains. From then on I had to visit the mountains at least once a year.
I like to spend my free time around animals, especially horses, dogs and cats. But any other animal is also very welcome around me and filled with love. I´m vegetarian since I was twelve and I tried to live mostly vegan over the last two years. But I also accept people who have different eating habits than I do.
Last year, I lived in a house with about 40 to 50 other people. I´m still living there and I don't want to miss it!! Even tought I only slept alone in a room twelve to fourteen times last year I like to have my own space to get creative or just listen to my music. I like to draw or journal what comes to my mind. And I really love to upcycle my old clothes and give them a new life. My clothes are very colorful and I would say very cool :)
So now that you heard a lot of things that I like or love lets go to the things I don't enjoy that much. I can barely sit still for more than 30min so I´m looking for something where I can work outside and do things with my hands. I would also like to do work which is not always the same. A little routine could be very helpful, especially in the beginning but the same tasks every day are a bit much. I also don't really like to work alone. Some times I need time for myself but mostly I want to work with other people together. I would also like to go hiking in our free time or play some games. Just spend time together.
Music also takes a big part in my life. You can romanticize your working time with the right music or just dance everything out after a hard day. I also think that music is a thing that brings people together, so I would love to meet you in the next campfire round with a guitar and good snacks.
I do not take myself too seriously and I´m open to any side guest. -

I really hated my English lessons in school, so I didn't put much effort into learning the language. I don't feel so comfortable to talking englisch to other people, but i understand most of the thinks people tell me. I want to feel more comfortable with the language and expand my vocabulary. -

More details about your skills
I have already worked at several bakeries and as a service employee or waitress. I have also worked in the commercial kitchen of a youth hostel, where we cooked for festivals or regularly for school classes.
I have also worked as a supervisor at a horse farm, where I looked after the children and gave them riding lessons.
Through my federal voluntary service, I worked a lot with school classes (We learn to develop social skills and strengthen the class community with them), but I was also able to get a taste of other areas. For example, the woodworking activities, where we were allowed to chop and stack wood or carry out other repair work.
I have also worked on a self-sufficient farm owned by a friend of mine, where we re-insulated the ceiling and added a staircase. So I know a little bit about repair work, but I wouldn't say that I feel 100% confident about it. -
