I’m currently working in a restaurant and apres ski bar for the ski season in Meribel in the French Alps. I love all outdoor sports and go open water swimming, fell running, hiking and rock climbing.

Description

Hi I'm Lottie, I love all outdoor sports and go fell running, rock climbing and open water swimming. I have spent the last two years backpacking and working abroad, volunteering in the French Pyrénées, backpacking and volunteering in Asia, and now working a ski season in the French Alps. Growing up in the English Lake District taught me to love mountains, lakes and the sea and all outdoor sports.
I am passionate about learning languages, I currently speak English and French fluently and am learning Italian, Spanish and Swahili.
I also love art and like to work with a range of medias, sometimes painting but my main media is hand embroidering landscape scenes.

More details about my language interests
I have studied French at A Level so have a lot of knowledge of the language but would like to further improve my fluency in this language by living, working and volunteering in France. I started learning Spanish in the Covid Lockdown and have continued to learn this language, and started learning Italian two years ago after visiting the country and being inspired to learn the language. I am learning Swahili for a student exchange and volunteering for a month in Tanzania.I am also happy to teach anybody that is interested in learning English. I love learning and sharing languages and would like to be fluent in French, Spanish and Italian.

I have worked in hospitality for four years in restaurants and bars around England and France which has allowed me to develop strong customer service skills and the ability to work confidently as waiting on staff and behind the bar.

I have strong communication skills and I can work effectively both in a team and independently.

I have food safety and hygiene for catering level 2.

I have some experience and basic skills in construction, spending a month on a Workaway project to renovate a hotel.

I am hardworking, proactive, versatile and organised.

What else ...

I am part of a local international charity called CRCL (Cumbria Rungwe Community Link) which is a link between the West Cumbrian community and Rungwe community in Tanzania. Last summer, I spent a month volunteering in Rungwe where we visited schools and saw the projects that we have been fundraising for over the last few years, including working with primary schools to repair and construct classrooms and a plumbing system. It is a student exchange where students from Tanzania come to Cumbria for one month then the following year students from Cumbria go to Rungwe, Tanzania. The summer previous to visiting Tanzania we hosted six students and two leaders from Tanzania.

I am a keen open water swimmer, swimming in lakes, rivers and the sea in the Lake District. I also love paddle boarding. A sport I have tried and would love to improve at is surfing.

I love snowboarding and would like to get better at this sport, as well as learning how to ski.

I started rock climbing five years ago and love the sport, I climb regularly inside and would like to climb outside more, including learning to trad climb.

I was part of a gymnastics club for ten years and competed at county level. I helped to organise gymnastics events and coached younger children. Although I no longer compete myself, I still enjoy practising skills.
