  • Description

Hello!! I'm an Aussie finally exploring New Zealand, travelling around in the campervan I recently bought. While I'm loving seeing the beauty of this country's landscapes I'm also hoping to experience the kiwi life.

I love crafting with my hands and dabble in a whole variety of forms. I'm most familiar with painting including murals and my most recent has been blacksmithing which was incredibly fun. I've also dabbled in knitting, sewing, screen printing, mosaic, welding, wood working and more. If it's anything along these lines I'm keen to try it. I've done a bit of building but I'd say my skill levels are more on assistant level. I've also done house work and gardening in paid positions and I'm happy to simply help out in general or with the odd tasks that keep getting put off for later. There's no distress with getting my hands dirty either.

I am a patient, calm person who enjoys stories, wandering in nature, exploring places, ideas and things and learning new skills. I have an easy going nature and I'm able to relate with people right from babies through to the elderly. I enjoy a good laugh or a deep discussion or companionable chillin'. Also enjoy board games and have a few small ones with me.

I'm a native English speaker (Australian) and happy to share that. I've been learning Auslan (Australian Sign Language) which is similar to New Zealand Sign Language and would love to learn some NZSL while in the country and see how similar they are. Auslan is probably not really useful in New Zealand but the idea of talking with your hands is fun to share and the alphabets are the same.

  • More details about your skills

I enjoy working with my hands and I'm pretty good at creating across a range of areas from crafting to cooking to a little building to art in various forms. Most known amongst friends as a painter (I've done a few murals and smaller artworks and also happily paint in a construction/renovation manner). I have also done some classes in pottery, welding, blacksmithing, screen printing, mosaics and basically whatever takes my fancy to try. The last couple of years I've been working in a green grocers which has been great. I've also worked as a nanny (used that to travel) and a gardener amongst other retail work. Interested in learning new things too.

  • What else ...

Other things I enjoy are board games, more in the realm of a serious board gamer than the generic monopoly type ones. I do enjoy some classic cards though as well. Some of my favourites are Titan Race, Tiny Epic Galaxies, Lords of Waterdeep, Citadels, Carcassone and Forbidden Desert. My profile picture has some of my board games on the left and one of my paintings on the right.
I enjoy going for walks in nature (not so much hiking unless I get fitter) and hope to do quite a bit of this in NZ.
I enjoy a high tea and a quirky museum or puzzle places. Escape Rooms are a bunch of fun!
I also like animals but haven't been able to have a pet for years due to rental living or travelling.
And also enjoy slipping into other worlds with a good book/audiobook.
