Description
Hello,
We are an internationally-minded Anglo-Australian couple who've seen the world, and now live on a rural property in a beautiful valley right on the border of the Hautes-Pyrénées and Pyrénées Atlantiques in South-West France.
We're interested in cultural exchange. We would like to welcome people who appreciate nature and the outdoors, and want to experience staying and helping us in nature while at the same time learning potential skills at our rural property/hobby farm.
We have two cats and two dogs (a golden retriever and a cocker spaniel), who are the heart of our home.
We are situated in a little village, 8km from a small market town with all facilities including supermarket, restaurants and bars. We are 35km from two large towns.
Our 18th century property (a master's house) faces the Pyrenees. We’ve worked very hard to restore it and transform it into a lovely home. Now we can host other people, we are looking for people to share this cultural and nature experience, as well as help us with activities such as gardening, pet grooming and small restoration projects.
We prefer being outside and being in nature. This cultural and learning exchange would suit people who are physically fit and open-minded, like being outdoors and getting stuck into tasks .
Expect the unexpected: we're creative people, so there are often new and different projects that could arise.
One of the hosts is a highly experienced carpenter and builder, so it is an opportunity to learn: if you want to gain some practical skills this could be a good learning opportunity for you, as well as a positive cultural exchange. The other is a qualified English language teacher and trained as an anthropologist.
This is a homestay opportunity where you will get food, accommodation and a very friendly welcome. There is no financial exchange for staying with us. You won’t be involved in any business or commercial-related activities.
The language we speak day-to-day within our home is English, but we do speak French.
We’re committed to nature and the environment and respect for the countryside. We've got 15 years' experience in the region, so we have good local knowledge.
We're new here so won't have any reviews yet.
Get in touch if you want to know more.
Have a great day!

Help
We're looking for people who are interested in getting involved in a range of activities around the property from gardening, pet care and restoration projects.
We don't expect people to be high skilled but would like people to have an open mind, and be keen to learn and share.
We also like to have fun.

Accommodation
The accommodation offered is in our house. There is a bedroom with a double bed and an ensuite bathroom with a shower (shared).

What else ...
We are about 45 minutes from Pau/ Tarbes and 1 hour from Lourdes.
In the summer months there are lots of local festivals. Although we are rural, we are not far from local market towns with bars and restaurants. We are happy to offer some pick ups and drop offs.
There is a bus from the local town into Pau (Monday to Saturday).
We are a non-smoking household (and this restriction is applied on all parts of the property - not just inside).
We ask people to be kind, respectful and open-minded.
