Description
Hello lovely hosts!
Our names are Ellie, Alex and Olive! I (Ellie) grew up in the countryside, surrounded by animals, with over 20 chickens, acres of land where we grow all our own fruits and vegetables, and even 10 beehives! Being close to nature and working with animals has always been a big part of my life, and it’s something I’d love continue through volunteering.
At the moment, we are travelling through Europe in our little SUV - the plan is to drive from Sheffield all the way through to South Eastern Europe as far as Athens and then circle back!
We have done 8 Workaways / volunteer placements across Europe and Latin America. We have worked in an Andea/Amazonian animal sanctuary, reforesting projects, agricultural farming, teaching, looking after children, working in a hostel, and helped with daily household chores. We both love to cook and learning new recipes :D
We both work for a couple of hours a day online as teachers. I specialise in maths and English for children with special educational needs and Alex teaches Spanish and Geography. We both have enhanced DBS so are cleared to work with children and vulnerable people. We have both just finished studying our Master's and we are looking forward to meeting new people and having amazing experiences in new places!
We're also excited to bring along our wonderful dog, Olive. He’s a fully trained and certified therapy dog - we volunteer together at a local nursery working with children with additional needs. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, and absolutely adores being around people and other animals. When we're at home, he lives with 2 kittens, chickens and bees! Olive has travelled to 30 countries with us and was on the road for 6 months! He has even been to the Arctic!
We’re all ready to experience new things, meet new friends, and dive into whatever tasks are needed. We believe that the best way to grow and learn is to fully immerse yourself in new experiences, which is why we want to volunteer!
** Some evenings, we work as online tutors, but are otherwise entirely free to do any jobs that need doing! -

More details about your skills
We love working with animals and are very comfortable caring for them, whether it’s feeding, cleaning, or just spending time with them. We love being in nature - we have done several week-long hikes and plan on doing the Santiago de Compostela next Summer.
While completing our studies, we both also worked as teachers, so we are great at getting along with people of all ages and backgrounds. We're friendly, adaptable, hard-working and really enjoy being part of a team. We are quick learners and always happy to roll up our sleeves and work hard, whether it’s with animals, in the garden, or trying something completely new.
We both have a clear enhanced DBS certificate for working with children and vulnerable people.
I speak German and Alex speaks Spanish - both fluently, in addition to fluent English. -

What else ...
We are really passionate about sustainable living and self-sufficiency. Growing up with a focus on raising our own food and caring for animals has given me a deep appreciation for a more eco-friendly lifestyle, and we're excited to learn even more about sustainable farming and living practices through volunteering.
More than anything, we're looking forward to meeting new people, sharing experience and skills, and building meaningful connections along the way. -
