  • Description

    Hi there!!
My name is Chloe but go by my nickname Joe. Born in Miami, Florida, I have spent the past four years living and studying Sociology in Glasgow Scotland.
Currently I am getting ready to set sail, joining as crew for a family that I met in a workaway, crossing the north atlantic ocean.

I come back, time and time again to workaway as it has become a pillar of my life, my joy, my growth, and my community. I seek to be apart of something bigger than myself.
The magical energy of these places, the raw experience of community, and the reminder of how quickly 'strangers' become friends keep me in constant awe.

I have spent beautiful time at workaways in California, Switzerland, Portugal, Sicily, Colombia, and Berlin.
I spent July of 2021 road tripping and camping the Southeast Coast of the USA and I WWOOF-ed at a farm called the Lavra in San Luis Obispo California. We worked on building a house and rebuilding garden plots. We baked bread out of acorn flour, roasted coffee, bottled wine, and learned how to lasso!
Spring of 2023, I stayed in the mountains of Switzerland, working with a team of 10 volunteers on wagon building and other tasks.
March of 2024, I helped out at an off-grid quinta in Portugal, building a roof, plumbing, planting, and fence building. Here my heart found such a home & Hannah and Duncan’s land and love felt endless!
December/January of 2024/2025, I rang in the new year with the wonderful Alberto at his project called Pachama, in Sicily. Many gardening tasks and organizing was done under the beautiful lemon trees (and lots of tiramisu was made and eaten).
Starting in April of 2025 I lived on a 60m boat in Berlin on the Spree with 13 others and helped with the construction of the final stages of the project. It was truly a paradise and I never wanted to leave. I have now returned to further iterations of this project 7 times, joining new crews and creating new memories. This workaway has become so much more for me, a place I call home and an experience that forever holds a piece of my heart.
July 2025 My sister and I joined a workaway project in the mountains behind Santa Marta and worked with cob and indigenous building techniques to preserve the ecosytem of the native land.

These moments have been the most beautiful and influential times of my life. In each project, I learn new skills, methods of communication, ways of being, and grow my self and my capacity for being a helper everywhere!

The community element of workaway and deeply connecting with new people has been the greatest gift. These adventures have brought me lifelong friends and memories that motivate me to continue to push the limit of what I think is possible. On these travels, I have met the most innovative, considerate, kind, and inspiring individuals.

In my free time I enjoy bikepacking, hiking, cooking, reading, sudoku, & dancing around a campfire.

I hope to develop my carpentry skills, permaculture knowledge, foraging, tree climbing abilities, spoon carving skills, and much more.
Have some experience as a bike mechanic so eager to help in this arena aswell!
Hope to continue this beautiful journey with you!!
