Description
We live outside Tucson in the Sonoran desert on 13 acres . We’ve lived off grid for 26 years with running water and minimal solar. We built a small straw bale building for our sleeping quarters with much of our life is outdoors. There is an enclosed outdoor kitchen and large enclosed porch.
We have two older dogs Bibi and Walkie - male and female, mid sized mutts, a very sweet 13 and 14 years old and in good health, 4 cats who are all different - aged from 1 year to 19 years old (and temporarily we have 4 kittens) . There are 5 South African Vulturines that roam the property.
The winters are ideal here in the desert. It’s in an area where our neighbors all live on a minimum of 5 acres, so quite rural. It’s very peaceful and the sky’s are spectacular. Very spacious with mountains in the distance all around.
The property is next to BLM land where you can roam for miles in the desert, find ancient Indian artifacts and wildlife. Great hikes nearby and a short drive to the Saguaro National Park .
We are looking for one or two people to stay and be with our place and animals for a couple months.
If you want to experience the desert and have some solitude, write a book ,or create a masterpiece this is a great place for that. -

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
This is an opportunity to experience off grid lifestyle, being innovative with alternative building , gardening. Perfect for Astronomers and people who love to explore the night sky’s as we have a Dark Sky designated area.
There is a lot of horse riding culture and nearby a dude ranch. The small town of Picture Rocks and Marana have different holiday events.
There is the Sonoran Desert Museum famous through the world nearby as well. -
Help
We are looking for someone to be companions for our dogs and cats , to feed them and walk the dogs . Otherwise just to be there and enjoy the property.

Accommodation
We offer a cozy straw bale building for sleeping with a king sized bed with an attached bathroom with a big bathtub and shower. The toilet is outside. There is a full kitchen in an enclosed area with a propane stove top, full facilitators except for an oven. But there’s a grill/ barbecue that can work as an oven.
We have a pantry with dried beans etc but one would need to purchase your own food beyond the basics of a salt, flour sugar, rice and beans. -
What else ...
You would need your own transportation. Our property is 15 minutes from the nearest town where there is a bus that comes infrequently to go to Tucson. A bicycle is possible if you are very hardy. It would be a 10 mile ride to town.

I work from home using a hotspot through my Verizon account. It’s not the best connection, but it definitely works.

There is plenty of open land to park a camper or a motorhome . We don’t have electricity or a septic hook up
