  • Description

    Hello everyone,

My name is Byron and I’m an experienced traveller currently planning to spend late January and February in Spain. I am actively looking for a Workaway opportunity of around one month, where I can contribute meaningfully while also practising Spanish, which is very important to me as I am currently studying it at university. Improving my spoken Spanish through daily interaction is one of my main priorities.

I am an adventurous, outgoing and reliable person who enjoys being active and learning new skills. I love spending time outdoors, working with my hands, being around nature and caring for animals. I’m not afraid of physical work and I enjoy tasks that are practical and varied.

I have previous Workaway experience in Central and South America, where I helped with animal care (including horses and dogs), childcare, and guest services in a hotel environment. My responsibilities included general property upkeep, guest assistance, maintaining shared spaces, and supporting daily operations — all roles that required responsibility, initiative, and good communication.

I am also a trained chef, so I’m comfortable helping with cooking, food preparation, and kitchen organisation. I have experience in hospitality, general maintenance, gardening, agricultural tasks, and day-to-day support roles, and I always aim to work efficiently and with a positive attitude.

I am easy-going, respectful, and adaptable, and I enjoy being part of a team as well as working independently when needed. I take pride in being dependable, punctual, and considerate of different cultures and ways of life.

I would love to stay with hosts who are open to language exchange, as speaking Spanish on a daily basis will help me greatly in my studies — and I am very happy to help in return wherever I’m needed.

Thank you for reading, and I look forward to connecting.

  • More details about your skills

I spent serval years training to be a chef in Scotland. I worked in many restaurants giving me experience in many different work environments. I have a Level 2 Food and Hygiene certificate which I completed because of this job I am good at working in a team towards a common goal.
During the Pandemic I spent 6 months working in hospital cleaning and preparing food for the patients. The cleaning needed to be done to a high standard so I think that I excel in that area of work.

I spent a year in Israel working on a horse ranch in the desert. At this ranch in learned how to feed, groom and take care of the horses, as well as learning to ride them. In the horse ranch i also looked after the chickens, dogs and cats. This experience made me realise how much of a love for animals I have.

After school I went to university and completed a Bachelors degree in Computing Science in Glasgow.

Last year I completed a Teaching English as a Foreign Language qualification (TEFL). This means that I am qualified to to English to non-native English students.
