Description
Hello!
My name is Tommaso and I am already in Japan for a period of travel and cultural exploration.
For the past three years I’ve been working as a pharmacist in a multinational pharmaceutical company, but this year I decided to take some time to experience something different and discover a country that has interested me for a long time.
Rather than only visiting places, I would like to experience Japan through everyday life—meeting local people, helping where needed, and learning about traditions, habits, and the small details that make each place unique. That is why Workaway feels like the right way to travel for me.
I enjoy being useful and adapting to different environments. I grew up in a family of café owners, so hospitality has always been part of my life. During my studies I also worked as a barista and waiter, which taught me how to work with people, stay organized, and keep a positive attitude even during busy moments.
I also have experience with gardening and practical outdoor work, which I still do occasionally and genuinely enjoy.
I’m curious, respectful, easygoing, and always happy to learn new things. Whether it’s helping with guests, daily tasks, gardening, or simply sharing experiences, I would be glad to contribute and become part of daily life for a while.
Looking forward to meeting you and creating a meaningful experience together 🌿

My name is Stefano I’m an Italian designer who decided to take some time for myself, travel, discover the world and learn from different people and cultures.
I’m a curious person by nature and I really enjoy being around people, sharing experiences and learning new things. This is especially true here in Japan, where there seem to be beautiful traditions and completely different ways of doing things everywhere I look.
I don’t just want to visit places, I’d love to understand a little more about the people who live there and their everyday life.
I’ve just spent a year in Australia, where I met people from all over the world and had the chance to try many different experiences, including working in housekeeping and as a barista. Now I’m looking forward to doing the same in Japan: meeting good people, learning new skills, helping wherever I can and hopefully leaving every place with some great memories and something new I’ve learned. -

More details about your skills
• Hospitality comes naturally to me. I grew up in my parents’ café and spent part of my student years working as a barista and waiter to support myself. I enjoy being around people, creating a good atmosphere, and I’m comfortable dealing with customers and busy environments.
• I have experience with gardening and outdoor work, which I still do occasionally. I really enjoy practical tasks and working with my hands rather than staying at a desk all day.
• I also took part in grape harvesting, so I’m familiar with physical work and don’t mind getting my hands dirty.
• People often describe me as very practical and manual: I enjoy fixing things, helping with small projects, and generally being useful wherever needed.
• I’m confident working with people, I communicate easily, and I actually enjoy the human side of service and even sales.
• I’m also a confident driver and I have an International Driving Permit, so I’d be happy to help if driving is needed.
I’m open to helping with hospitality, cafés, gardening, outdoor projects, daily tasks, house maintenance, and anything I can learn along the way. -

The lodge has a very well-equipped kitchen, and taking care of the guests was easy and enjoyable. The location is also great: it’s in a quiet and private area of Hakuba, but only a 5-minute walk from one of the main streets.
