  • Description

Hello! I’m Tabatha, a nature-loving explorer from the north of England with a deep interest in plants, the land, and living in closer connection with nature.

In the last year I’ve been studying plant science and horticulture, which has deepened my appreciation for ecosystems, soil health, and the incredible intelligence of plants. I’m a passionate learner of medicinal herbs and traditional plant uses. In my free time I enjoy experimenting with creating my own herbal tea blends and botanical sprays.

I’m someone who genuinely enjoys being outdoors and working with my hands. Helping in the garden, harvesting, preparing beds, planting, or general land care are all tasks that give me a lot of fulfilment, knowing I am supporting the health of the land and building towards outcomes that are long term and sustainable.

Alongside this, I’m also a friendly and sociable person who enjoys community environments. I appreciate shared meals, meaningful conversations, and the rhythm of working together during the day and relaxing in the evenings.

    My previous Workaway Experience:

I have been lucky enough to be a part of numerous workaways, where I’ve volunteered in a variety of environments including Permaculture farm stays, Retreat centres and Land based community projects.

These experiences taught me a lot about living and working collaboratively, being adaptable, and supporting projects wherever help is needed. I’ve worked in people-led communities, small family workaways and more formal organisations/retreats, helping with daily tasks while also bringing a positive attitude and sense of humour to the group. I really enjoy learning from hosts and exchanging knowledge and perspectives with people from different backgrounds, countries and skillsets.

Some areas I feel confident helping with include:

    🪴Gardening & Plant Care
    Planting, watering, harvesting
    Garden maintenance, mulching, pruning
Learning/talking about soil health and plant care
Working with herbs and medicinal plants

Having me stay with you as a workawayer…

I’ve been a part of a number of Workaway experiences over recent years, learning a lot about myself and finding ways to immerse myself into the lives of the people/community I am visiting. I hope to bring positive qualities to make the exchange as rich as possible for both sides. Qualities I hope to embody whilst staying with you:
Reliable and practical – if something needs doing, I’m happy to jump in and help.
Easygoing and friendly – I enjoy good conversations and connecting with people whilst also respecting privacy and personal time/space
Curious and eager to learn – I love picking up new skills and understanding how things work. Expanding my worldview and knowledge is important to me
Grounded but also fun – I enjoy working hard but also bringing a light and positive energy to the day.

I’d love to be a part of your Workaway if you also value environments where people respect nature, live consciously, and support each other as a community.

  • What else ...

What excites me most right now is going deeper into herbalism and learning how to build a respectful and reciprocal relationship with herbs and plants. I’m interested not only in growing them, but in understanding their traditional uses, energetics, and the ways they can support wellbeing. I would love to continue learning from people who have experience in this area.

In my own life, I’m gradually moving towards creating a lifestyle that feels more connected to nature, slower paced, and rooted in meaningful work with the land and plants. Experiences like Workaway have been a big part of that journey, which is why I’d like to continue exploring projects this year.
