Description
We are a small hobby farm/farm stay outside of Thunder Bay, Ontario. We have about 38 acres where we grow hay and house alpacas, goats, chickens, dogs, a cat and one lovely lumpy donkey. We are currently working on expanding our gardens and building a timber frame greenhouse while keeping up with the usual farm chores and raising young children, a 3 year old and 5 month old. This area is rich in natural beauty and has lots of opportunity for outdoor leisure, sight-seeing, and is close to major highways for easy travel.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Workawayers can experience life in rural Northern Ontario including opportunities for outdoor recreation, cycling, hiking, swimming, fishing (many lakes and rivers nearby). Thunder Bay is a booming city with all the modern amenities and a rich multiculutral/Indigenous culture.
We are happy to share our knowledge about the farming lifestyle, as well as health and wellness, building and property maintenance skills, (my husband is a police officer and handyman, I am a registered nurse with a passion for holistic health and complementary therapies).
We are interested in learning about other cultures, foods, peoples and histories. -
Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.

Help
We are looking for help with farm chores (feeding and watering animals, barn clean up, moving small hay/straw bales (during harvest time), gardening/weeding, assistance with childcare, cleaning chores, property maintenance, mowing, painting, help with building greenhouse...).

Accommodation
We have a 27ft fifth wheel trailer parked on the property. There is a queen bed, washroom/shower, kitchen/living facilities. There are opportunities for camping as well.
We eat a mostly plant based mediterranean style diet, but we still love our pizza, wine and beer...we are happy to share food or can order groceries that meet your specifications as well... -
What else ...
We view our property and lifestyle as more quiet, peaceful and restorative so would like workawayers who are interested in a similar vibe.
