Hi there,
My name is Sterre, I’m 30 years old and from the Netherlands. I have decided to go and explore Australia with the aim of acquiring new skills, meeting interesting people and learning more about the world.
I’m passionate about nature and care a lot about the environment. I also love animals and observing humans. We are a truly fascinating species aren’t we? ;)
Also love reading and yoga.

Years ago I did three completely different WorkAways in South America and very much enjoyed them. I have just finished my third WorkAway in Australia, I met great people and learned new skills.
During Workaways yet to come I would particularly like to learn about permaculture, forest regeneration and living off grid.

I’m an open-minded person, enthusiastic, a quick learner and up for a challenge!

In the Netherlands I have worked with children, at first as a special needs assistant teacher and later on as a family coach at an holistic practice. My latest job of two years was as projectcoordinator for a foundation creating projects for children and youngsters with fewer opportunities than their peers.

Some years ago I lived on an arable farm in England where I helped out on the drier and collected samples of grain at other farms in the area. I have also been an au pair in the UK.

In South America I did Workaways on a farm where we collected the cattle, milked them and helped out planting crops. Also worked as a volunteer in a hostel and at an Ashram.

In the Netherlands I have volunteered to turn farmland back into ‘nature’, volunteered at a swapshop for clothes and helped refugees to find jobs.

So far I have done three WorkAways in Australia which I really enjoyed! Not only did I learn a lot about Australia and met great people, I also learned new valuable skills.
At my first WorkAway in Sydney I helped out with the plants, making compost, collecting seeds, planting them and weeding. Also did some household chores.
During my second Workaway, in the Blue Mountains, I spent time working on a permaculture garden. And during my third one, also in the Blue Mountains I also mainly helped out in the garden, lawn mowing, weeding and did some household organisation.

I pick things up pretty quickly and enjoy being challenged.

What else ...

I love pondering about life questions, reading books, working with plants, animals and doing yoga. I’m interested in mindfulness and improving my cooking skills. I do have my diving padi as well.
