Helloooo!!! Hola, Halo, مرحبا! My name is Sophie, and I am a college student in Vermont, USA. I come from a monocultural background in Ohio, so Workaway is a pretty special opportunity to me. My two BIGGEST motivators to travel are (1) learning languages and (2) hiking.

During the 2024-25 school year, I traveled to Peru, Bolivia, Portugal, Spain, and Germany. (I also worked a bit in a restaurant and as a gardener.) During my trip to South America, I was with a group and we explored the Inca trails, stayed with wonderfulll host families, made charangos, and saw a sloth! In Europe, my friend and I did the Camino de Santiago from Porto, Portugal (14 days:0). After our travels together, I headed to Germany to practice speaking and to do my first Workaway on a small farm with some pretty cool hosts.

Now, I'm studying Arabic and we shall see what else. But I am itching to get back out this summer and explore!

- Comfortable with animals (I had a gecko and six guinea pigs, I used to work at a pet store, and I frequently pet sit.)
- Worked a summer as a gardener (lots of weeding and pruning, and a little planting)

- Took care of chicken coop and stables at last Workaway (I am a little scared of roosters now)

What else ...

My FAVORITE MOVIE EVER is The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. I highly recommend.
I am thinking about studying natural sciences or math, along with Arabic. I know a few songs and like to play around on the guitar, piano, harmonica, and recorder. I played tennis and baseball/softball in high school, and I enjoy playing pickup soccer, basketball, frisbee, and other games. In my free time I like to draw, play cards, write, read, look at workaway profiles, bake anything with chocolate in it (or not), and exercise. Also, I'm a little bit timid. Don't expect a supper talkative, outwardly enthusiastic person right away.
