Hello, I’m Samantha Yip Mun San, but you can call me Sam. I’m 24 years old and come from the beautiful state of Perak, Malaysia. Growing up in a multiracial and multicultural country, I am bilingual, fluent in Chinese, English and Cantonese, as well as proficient in Malay.

Currently, I am a master’s student at Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China. During the summer of 2024, I participated in three Workaway experiences in Switzerland and Italy, where I gained valuable cross-cultural and hands-on learning experiences. In the winter of 2026, I also volunteered in South Korea. Now, I hope to start my new journey IN 2026!!

In 2020, I joined an exchange program in Amsterdam, where I spent nearly six months exploring Western culture, making international friends, and falling in love with the city. During that time, I also traveled across Europe, including Belgium, France, Germany, Switzerland, Iceland, and England.

These experiences sparked my passion for cultural exchange and helped me become more confident and open-minded. I love meeting new people, sharing cultures, languages, stories, and even cooking together.

Currently, I’m studying in Shanghai, and I’d love to find a buddy to chat with, travel, explore, and experience more of this beautiful country together.

I have demonstrated leadership skills as a team leader, guiding my teammates through challenging tasks during camping activities in Malaysia
I'm studying at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, one of the TOP 5 Universities in China, and I have consistently achieved good results. I also got scholarships.
I have several working experiences in both Malaysia and Shanghai. I have also worked in a foreign company located in Shanghai, where I contributed to translation, finance, and other essential tasks.
I exchanged to Amsterdam for 6 months, and I honed excellent communication skills and demonstrated independence
I joined student unions in school.
I cook myself in Amsterdam, especially dumplings, soups, and various Chinese dishes.
I can communicate in four languages, I am passionate about multicultural communication and learning from diverse perspectives.
I have travelled to many countries, and I can do well in travel planning.
I have volunteered both in Malaysia and Shanghai. In Malaysia, I assisted in caring for children at a church and organized activities for camps and school events. In Shanghai, I volunteered for two consecutive years, offering henna drawings during the school culture day and helping organize student cultural exchange activities.
