Travelling
Our next destination:
Australia - from May 2025 until Jun 2025 View allDescription
We are Melanie (38), Thomas (38), Evelina (8) and Patrizia (4) from Germany taking a 1-year break from our "normal" life to travel the world via work-exchange.
During the last 6 months we made our way from Canada to the US (incl. Hawai'i) to Costa Rica and right now we are in the Chile/Argentina/Uruguay area. Our next destinations will be New Zealand and Australia.
Our goal is to meet people around the world - help them with their projects, learn from them and be part of their daily life for a while.
So far, we were fortunate to make great friends, learn a lot and contribute a lot. All of our stays were unique experiences and now we hope to extend and share this treasure of lifelong memories with you!
We both grew up on farms and now, with the kids, we live on the countryside in Bavaria, Germany.
As a family we are very into nature - spending as much time as possible outside together in any weather and various landscapes. We are used to hot and cold, being out all day and getting our hands dirty.
All of us are open-minded, hardworking and easy going. We quickly identify with our host's projects, bringing in lots of commitment and getting things done. We are used to working independently on a high level and don't drop the hammer just when the clock rings.
Our two girls simply love ALL sorts of animals. So be prepared for your fauna to get pampered and the kids only to be seen when helping us or at bedtime!
As a family on the road we are used to live and sleep close together and can adapt quickly to new surroundings.
No allergies, no special diet needed. Non smokers.
We look forward to working together with you and making a new wonderfull experience!Interests

More details about your skills
Thomas is an engineer and a skilled craftsman/mechanic. He learned his farm skills growing up on his parents mixed farm. He can operate and fix all kinds of machinery from trimmers to tractors and has also done lots of general building and maintenance projects. He is handy with all kinds of tools - DIY is his thing.
He is strong, fit and can help with any work that needs to be done. He's always keen on learing new skills and techniques from people he's working with.
I, Melanie, also grew up on a farm, so I'm used to the hard but rewarding work involved. Working with animals is my favorite! Besides that I'm a passionate gardener and love watching things grow out of the efforts of my own hands. I could harvest vegetables/fruits all day long! I always try to involve our kids with this to show them how giving mother earth can be. Also by crafting with them using natural materials.
Back in the house I enjoy all sorts of fresh and creative cooking and baking.
Besides being mother of our two wonderful girls, I'm working independently as a Birth-Doula and Breastfeeding Consultant and support young families in their daily life.
If there is some time left I try to improve my acrylic painting skills.
Both of our kids are ambitious doing their own small projects and can take over tasks like caring for the chickens, watering plants, feeding the goats or simply working your dog out.
Our previous stays involved working with pigs, sheeps, goats, chickens (meat & egg), cattle and horses.
With plants we did the full circle from preparing beds, seeding, weeding, harvesting, processing and marketsale.
Let's get it on!Age
