Description
We are a family farm located six kilometres from Puerto Octay, with a fantastic view of Lago Llanquihue and 4 volcanoes . We own an authentic Chilean-German restaurant where most of the food is made with the ingredients from the farm. We also have a vegetable garden where we could use some help. All of our vegetables and meat, as well as marmalades, jams and juices, are produced organically.
The farm is 350 hectares and we have cows, sheep, horses, donkeys, pigs and alpacas along with dogs and cats.
We are always trying to reuse (after reducing), for example using glass bottles for part of our greenhouse, therefore any help here would be greatly welcome.

Help
Summer time is keeping the garden, planting, harvesting.
We always need help harvesting some produce, cleaning wheat, making the boxes.
There is some work to do in our barefoot path.
We are also looking for a long term volunteer who is willing to learn how to manage a vegetables garden and greenhouses from october to march, to help with our employees, cleaning, weeding, planting, colecting and harvesting, and for the farmers market and other customers, and to keep track of what we produce.
During easter and christmas, we help with the organization of Puerto Octay´s museum to host fairs where local craftsmen and producers sell their products as a way to promote the town and all thats being produced there. So we use all the help we can to help installing stands, keeping the garden, babysitting, entertaining, etc.
This is our way of giving back to the community.

A separate house for volunteers, 500 hundred meters from the restaurant, bedroom and shared bathroom for volunteers.
Lunch and dinner at the restaurant. Breakfast is at the house (with everything provided).

Picturesque Puerto Octay is one of the best-kept secrets in the region and one of the most charming towns in the Lake Llanquihue District. Situated on the north shore of the lake, it was once a major lakeside port. Today, time seems to stand still in this peaceful town full of German colonial style buildings, many of which operate as inns. They are the legacy of the immigrants who founded the town in the early 19th century.

We stayed 10 days in the restaurant and we really loved our time there!
People are very nice and warm, the landscapes are awsome, and the food so good!!
We lived in a confortable house with everything and our job was mostly to work in the strawberry area. We really enjoyed our lifestyle there!

Volunteering for this project was a great experience. We met so many different people, learned new skills, and ate great food. staying with Don Antonio was amazing and he is a great and funny man; we miss his sheepdog Lynne too! Rancho was our first ever Workaway and we had the most fantastic experience! All the staff and other volunteers were lovely, the work we did was interesting and varied, the setting was absolutely stunning and the food was fantastic. I would definitely recommend this workaway :)
