Description
Hello! We are Emma and Mathieu, a young couple currently living in the French Alps.

Mathieu is a French architect who loves working with his hands. He is currently renovating our apartment and doing a beautiful job! I am from New Zealand and work as a physiotherapist. We both love Workaway for the cultural exchange, we believe there is no better way to travel than by meeting locals and experiencing the culture first-hand.

We are very passionate about the outdoors and nature, and are always off on adventures, whether it’s surfing, trail running, mountain biking, or simply relaxing in the sun with a coffee hehe!

We are a kind, open, and motivated couple. Mathieu is very practical and enjoys hands-on work, while I love to cook and am always keen to learn new skills. In the past, we have done Workaways involving painting, DIY projects, farm stays, building rock walls, gardening, and more.

- As a young architect I can help you on designing your house project (from first sketch to 3D modelling on architecture software, building permit application, etc.)

- As a hands-on type of person, I had experience in the renovation of my old family farm and a few workaway construction experiences in Australia, Tasmania and New Zealand (tiny house, stones foundations, wooden deck, gardening, etc.
I’m also used to work as a labourer on doing terrasses, stone walls, plastering, insulation, painting, basic tiling on different constructions sites. I have also worked on the roof construction in a wooden house in France.

- I like woodworking : did recently some bed headboard, hangboards, etc.)

- I also worked as lifegard, picked cherries at a big farm, etc.

Mathieu only stayed a week but really worked his way into our hearts. He was so courteous, respectful, and sensative to the wellbeing of others. He had a challenging and awkward construction task to frame up for a chimney in the sloping attic space. He remained positive and kept at it till a wonderful job was done. Keith and Jane are simple and lovable people. I spent a few days in Waikuku in their cozy and tidy house. Thank you for your kindness. I greatly appreciated your knowledge and your culture. The morning at the church was very interesting.
