Our next destination:
New Zealand - from Jul 2025 until Nov 2025 View allDescription
We are Luna and Dan. Together, we were on an overland journey from the UK to Nepal - and many places in-between. During our trip we have had the pleasure to meet lovely people and join with our volunteering energy.
We have been in New Zealand since November last year and would now like to continue with this way of travelling and living in the workaway community.
Below is some information about us and our journey....

LUNA:
I am a nature-lover and wild woman at heart. I grew up in Germany, yet I have been living abroad for the past eight years. In 2015, I moved to Scotland to study social and environmental sciences. During my studies, I got introduced to the global ecovillage network, permaculture practices and the transition town movement. These discoveries provided me with a new purpose and inspired me to invest myself into more regenerative visions.
I am deeply passionate about natural cycles, seasonal celebrations, land regeneration, herbalism and (wild) food preservation. I facilitate The Work That Reconnects by Joanna Macy, and I am trained in environmental pedagogy. My dream is to live a life that recognises our intrinsic oneness with the natural world.
As a volunteer, I can contribute with various skills that include gardening, cooking, general maintenance, natural construction/building, animal care, group facilitation and leisure activities like music, massage and dance. I enjoy physical work, and see it as a wonderful opportunity to use my body in a more natural way. Physical labour outdoors like chopping wood, weeding, planting etc brings me a lot of joy and sense of reward. In my work I tend to be perfectionist, yet nature teaches me to adapt creatively, think outside the box and to see beauty in everything.
Whilst practical work is a beautiful tool to be of service to others and the earth, I also value mindfulness and meditation for personal development. In my view, the connection between body mind and soul is essential to live a life in balance.
I love meeting new people and to share myself, my experiences and most importantly my curiosity and passion for an alternative lifestyle. I consider myself a reliable worker and also a fun, open-hearted person to be with. I’m excited and curious to see where the journey will take us.

DAN:
Who am I?
Big question... save that for another time!
But, some people might describe me as a gentle, laid-back, open-minded, lover of nature and beauty.
The peace and quiet of the countryside is where I’ve found a sense of home over the last few years, but growing up in Nottingham, UK, I was once a boy from the city.
A few things that light me up include engaging conversations, shared adventures, ancient trees, live music, authenticity, delicious food, stillness and contemplation.
For the last few years, I’ve been working in veg gardens in intentional communities. Most recently, I’ve just finished a year-long Diploma course in: ´Regenerative Land Based Systems`. During this course I have been working in the vegetable garden at a beautiful meditation retreat centre, facilitating groups and growing food, whilst attending college and learning about Regenerative Farming.
I would be delighted to learn something of your world, see something of what life might be like through your eyes, and of course share something of my own with you too. Open to support with anything of importance, with some particular knowledge or skills in Land based work, facilitation, English Language and business and marketing.

We are both so overjoyed to be embarking on this exciting undertaking, ready to embrace whatever might be awaiting, with open minds and open hearts.
Thank you so much for reading. We really look forward to meeting you. :)

More details about your skills
Over the years we acquired various skills mainly in the field of organic gardening, community building, homecare and general maintenance.
We have both worked in numerous (organic) veg production gardens. We are competent in working on the land; making compost, seed sowing, propagation, planning the planting schedule and organising garden team meetings - amongst many other things. We gained deeper insights into growing our own food, providing the community with nutrition, involving others in the process and in reading each situation according to the circumstances.
In addition to the Permaculture Design Certificates (PDC) we both hold, we have skills in the following areas:
Luna completed an Ecovillage Design Education course which provided her with insights into how to design (community) life so that it is not only ecological and economically viable but equally socially sustainable. Dan did a similar course in Design for Sustainability.
Luna has been involved in some building projects and learned about natural construction with clay, straw and wood.
Dan has just finished a diploma in Land Based Regenerative Systems, has a degree in Business and Entrepreneurship, a certificate in Education, Training and English as a Second Language.
We are confident with the use of tools and work with a reliable and responsible attitude.Age
