  • Description

I’m currently looking for Workaway opportunities throughout Spain during summer 2025 (flexible June 15 - August 10)

I travel with my cat, Sophia. She is a señora of 15 years. She has no bad habits and is more than happy to sleep in a sunny window in my room with her food, water, bed, and toilet box nearby. She is very lazy and calm! She sleeps probably 20 hours per day. She is good with children and dogs. She doesn't love other cats, but tolerates them .

Lacey (pronounced "Leysi") grew up in Los Angeles, California. She moved to Spain in September 2022 to work as a Language and Culture Assistant at a primary school. After a year in Pais Vasco and a year in Alicante, she is currently teaching for a third year in a pueblo near Alicante.

Additional note: the teaching program through the Spanish Ministry of Education required Lacey to pass an FBI background check as well as yearly update via Cuerpo Nacional de Policía. Documentation and references can be provided.

More details about my language interests
Since September 2022, I've been living in Spain, learning Spanish and teaching English. I have experience teaching English in small and large school classes, as well as private lessons and tutoring to children and adults. I enjoy teaching english through games, art projects, and fun conversational exercises. It's also fun to just practice language with everyday tasks like animal care and cooking.

  • More details about your skills

I'm an experienced English teacher who earned a fine arts degree at University. I'm knowledgable about a variety of home improvement tasks, and always eager to learn more.

I earned my BFA from Savannah College of Art and Design in the state of Georgia and I have many skills in a variety of arts and crafts. I'm a knowledgable gardener and I renovated my own home extensively. I'm very happy to share knowledge and skills!

I purchased my first home in Portland, Oregon in 2015. I completed numerous projects including painting nearly every inch throughout. I'm a very experienced gardener, having built several raised beds for the garden and maintained a steady supply of vegetables and flowers year-round, even in a colder climate. I was an Airbnb Superhost all the years I hosted (2017-2022), and have lots of experience maintaining a spotless home, changing over guest rooms, and generally making people feel at home with special details like flower arrangements and unique catering to details. I also has extensive customer service experience in restaurants and retail.

I have a bit of farming experience, and am keen to learn anything and everything about working on a farm! I often cared for donkeys on my parents' farm and I'm very familiar with barn and paddock tasks. I can deftly manage a ride-on lawnmower, and would love to learn to milk a cow or shear a sheep. :)

I take initiative and pride in my duties, I catch on quickly and don't need hand-holding when dealt a task. I can usually figure it out quickly.

I prefer traveling with Workaway because I can get to know any place more deeply than being just a tourist. I also enjoy hard work, and practising languages and interpersonal skills. Please remember, I travel with my senior cat, Sophia. See other parts of my profile for more details!

  • What else ...

Workaway has been a wonderful opportunity to visit other cities and countries. I truly enjoy sharing experiences with a variety of people, let's share our culture and history!

I travel with my cat Sophia, a señora of 15 years. She has no bad habits and is more than happy to sleep in a sunny window my room with her food, water, bed, and toilet box nearby. She is very lazy and calm! She sleeps probably 20 hours per day.

I know very well how to drive and hold a valid license from the USA (including motorcycle endorsement), but it is not honoured in Spain so I selected no drivers' license. In many countries, it is not required to have a license to operate farm equipment, with which I have experience. Please check your local requirements.
