  • Description

Hey :) My name is Jasmin and I’m 21 years old. I’m currently in my fourth semester of a teaching degree, majoring in English and Geography.
I’d love to break away from city life and get to know rural environments with all their diverse facets. My geography studies have given me some initial insights into this, but mostly just in theory. During a field trip I took as part of my university program, I realized how much I enjoy working outdoors.

Since I haven’t traveled to many other countries in my life, I’d like to change that. I want to immerse myself in new cultures, meet new people, discover new things, and step out of my comfort zone.
I’m drawn to Ireland as a destination because I don’t know much about it. My English studies are very focused on England and the U.S. and don’t offer much opportunity to learn about other English-speaking countries. That’s why I want to look beyond my own horizons and get to know other English-speaking realities, cultures, and histories.

People I interact with describe me as a warm, adaptable, responsible, sociable, and empathetic person. I can work independently, but I can also function just as well in a team with others.

Although my English is good, I still want to improve it and have more opportunities to interact with native speakers. That’s why I’m looking forward to meeting new people, working together, and enriching myself through their language and culture.
However, spending time in an English-speaking country is also a mandatory step in applying for the Master’s program in English at my university.

In preparation for my future work as a teacher, I have already completed an internship at a secondary school, where I had my first experience with educating and teaching children. For example, I led a short session during a sports class. Additionally, I'm working in the after-school program at an elementary school and thereby deepening my knowledge of working with children.
In addition, I gained experience working with people with disabilities through an internship at an inclusive kindergarten and an inclusive dental practice for people with hearing disabilities (each lasting four weeks).

As for my interests and skills, I enjoy sharing my Moroccan culture, which I inherited from my mother. For instance, during a school festival, I ran a booth where I painted henna tattoos for many children.
In my free time, I also enjoy cooking and baking, and I try to use this as a way to learn about and connect with new cultures.
I’ve also gained some experience in cat sitting.
