Hello there good people!
My name is Jake and me and my girlfriend Jodie are travelling about europe in our self built camper with our beautiful dogs, a couple of kayaks and plenty of energy ⚡
I am a 29 year old Irish/english man with a love for good food, good conversation and for good hard work too, I have a boundless love and appreciation for all things wild and true, the natural world and our mother earth never ceases to amaze and enthrall me and every day I spend here getting to experience it all seems to me a wondrous piece of good fortune.
In terms of what makes me tick, I am a doer and a fixer, I problem solve and I tinker and usually if something's broken I can fix it, be it an engine or a fence. I am a certified climbing arborist and am travelling with all my saws and climbing gear so tree work is certainly a possibility. I'm used to a large and varied selection of physical labour and will try my best at anything providing I understand what is expected of me.
I have a lot of experience painting houses, farming, operating machines (including 360 excavators, artic trucks, artic dump trucks, cranes, and also operating jeeps, cars, tractors, quads, and busses in heavy ice and snow) , as well as gardening and teaching to name a few. I am also a qualified kayak instructor and teaching kayaking is probably the thing that has brought me the most enjoyment and inspiration out of anything I have ever done, although dues to life taking unexpected turns I haven't done this for quite a long time. I am absolutely fascinated by permaculture and all it has to offer the world and having fairly recently discovered it am very keen to learn more and to see it in action.
I love to read both novels and just about anything else and I have a deep deep love of music, both listening to and playing it, I am in love with food and try my hand at cooking with varied successes and failures! I love good company and good conversation when it is right and ripe but am also quite reclusive at times and need my time without others and without pressure to socialise or entertain. I am an open hearted, freedom loving being and I look forward to meeting and helping whoever out there may take us for a time.
Slightly younger than me, at 26, Jodie shares many of the same passions as myself. She loves all things wild, she loves the outdoors and is most at home on a long ramble or having a meditative float in a lake or on the sea. She likes to read novels and has a deep, deep appreciation for music, and also art. She loves to paint when she has the right space for it and never ceases to amaze me as she turns those blobs of inanimate colour into something that has life and beauty in it. She adores our fellow beings, big and small, and has a natural ability to connect with many of them.
She has also filled a wide variety of different positions in her professional life, including bar work and barrista roles. Restaurant waitressing and a wide array of hospitality/ turnaround jobs, working for OCS security as well as working for the World Vision charity organisation.
She also has a wealth of experience around disabled children, and especially those with down syndrome.
That isn't to say she's afraid of getting stuck in other work though. She is a hard worker and is experienced in the role of ground person to me, doing tree work, and when I was running my tree services company, she was heavily involved in some major dangerous tree removal jobs. She has some experience of gardening and has recently put in a huge number of hours into all aspects of fully cleaning and repointing the walls of a very large old barn to make it attractive as a venue for wedding functions.
Jodie, like myself, will try her best providing she has clear guidance and knows what is expected of her.
so thats us, who are you and what do you do? have a wonderful day and I hope i'll get to meet some of you and share and learn something along the way!Interests
