Description
Welcome to our little farm in Slovakia
--
When are we looking for someone?
At the moment, we’re looking for farm sitters for two periods:
December 2026: one or two weeks, starting in the first or second week of December.
April 2027: the whole month.
---
We’re Sabine and Yvon, originally from the Netherlands, and we live on a little farm in the south of Slovakia. Our home is surrounded by forests, hills and a small creek. It’s a peaceful place, with plenty of space to enjoy nature and get away from the busyness of everyday life.
We fell in love with this old, neglected farm in 2016 and moved here in 2018, after spending quite some time bringing it back to life. It has been a big adventure, with plenty of hard work along the way, and over the years we’ve welcomed lovely people from all over the world into our home.
These days, we're looking for farm sitters
We’ve had some really lovely experiences with people looking after our farm while we were away, and we’d like to do more of that. We enjoy travelling ourselves, and it’s such a relief to know that our animals are in good hands while we’re gone.
We have one dog, four cats and three sheep, each with their own little personality. Looking after them is mostly about feeding them, making sure they’re doing well and keeping an eye on things around the property. Sometimes we could also use a hand with a few things in the garden, depending on the season.
You don’t need to be a farmer or have lots of experience, but you should feel comfortable around animals, be reliable and enjoy having a bit of responsibility. Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who will care for our animals and home as if they were their own.
In return, you’ll have the chance to spend some time in the Slovak countryside, surrounded by nature, with plenty of peace and space to yourself.
If you’re interested in either of these periods, feel free to send us a message. Tell us a little about yourself, whether you’ve looked after animals or a house before, and which dates would work for you.
A little more about us
We’ve known each other since we were thirteen and have been sharing our lives since 2010. Back then, we never imagined that one day we’d end up living on a farm in Slovakia, but here we are!
We’ve built a life here that revolves around nature, the changing seasons and all the little things that make a place feel like home.
Sabine loves photography, herbs, making natural products and getting creative with whatever nature has to offer. Yvon enjoys working with wood, making things, exploring new paths and spending time outdoors with the animals.
Our farm has changed a lot since we first arrived, and so have we. These days, we’re looking forward to having a little more freedom to travel and discover new places, without having to worry about everything back home.
We’ve always appreciated the people who have crossed our path here, and we know from experience that a good farm-sitting arrangement can be a lovely experience for everyone involved.
Could this be your kind of place?
If you enjoy animals, love being outdoors and fancy spending some time in a quieter part of Europe, perhaps you’d feel at home here.
We’re happy to hear from people from all walks of life. All we ask is that you’re caring, trustworthy and comfortable taking care of our little farm while we’re away.
If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, drop us a message. We’d love to hear a little about you and see if it might be a good match! -

Help
Our main need from now onwards is farm sitting while we are away travelling. This involves looking after our little farm and caring for our animals: one dog, four cats and three sheep. Daily tasks include feeding the animals, making sure they are safe and happy, and keeping an eye on the property.
Occasionally, we may also appreciate a little help with seasonal tasks in our private garden, such as watering plants, light gardening or helping to keep the outdoor spaces tidy. These tasks are secondary to animal care and are not part of any commercial activity.
We have had wonderful experiences with farm sitters in the past and would love to welcome more people who enjoy animals, nature and a peaceful countryside setting. We are looking for reliable, responsible and caring people who are comfortable around animals and happy to look after our home while we take some time to travel.
In return, you can enjoy the tranquillity of our property, surrounded by forests, hills and a little creek in beautiful southern Slovakia. -
