Description
Hello!
We’re Guillaume and Caroline, a French Canadian couple living in a mountain town in British Columbia.
We love trail running, hiking, climbing, backcountry camping, gardening, cooking, reading, meeting new people, and embracing new experiences. We are both hard workers and enjoy contributing wherever we go.
Guillaume is a carpenter and Caroline is a school teacher. Although we don’t have children ourselves, we enjoy spending time with kids.
Currently, we’re on a two-year trip, travelling the Pan-American highway in our truck-camper. Along the way, to truly immerse ourselves in the cultures we encounter, we hope to participate in several Workaway experiences.
We’re especially eager to get our hands dirty and learn about different ways of cultivating fruits, vegetables, and other edible plants, and we’re excited to discover new farming and gardening practices as we travel. We’re also excited to learn new cooking methods and traditional recipes as we meet people along the way. As a carpenter, Guillaume is particularly curious to learn about alternative building techniques.
We would describe ourselves as calm yet high-energy, light-hearted, curious, passionate, creative, and respectful. We enjoy working collaboratively and always approach new experiences with an open mind and positive attitude.
We speak French and English, and although our Spanish is currently basic, we’re eager to become fluent soon!

More details about your skills
In our early twenties, although not yet together, we each left our hometown and drove 5,000 km to live on the west coast of Canada. This experience allowed us to learn English and discover a lifestyle full of outdoor adventures that we embraced right away. We loved living surrounded by mountains and spent a few years working different jobs—painter, tree planter, cleaner, server, babysitter—before we decided to go back to school.
Gui, a carpenter since 2014, loves to build things with care and attention to detail, and Caro, a school teacher since 2014, finds real joy in helping others learn, grow, and realize what they are capable of. We are both curious about understanding the world around us. We recently renovated our house while simultaneously building our camper and planning our trip, which meant learning new skills, solving problems creatively, working together through unexpected challenges, and celebrating our progress along the way.

Feedback
Given our limited ability to communicate in Spanish, we felt we weren't able to connect and interact with the people at the Rancho as much as we would have liked. Despite our somewhat limited interactions, we still enjoyed our experience.
