Wicklow, Ireland - from Apr 2025 until Jul 2025 View allDescription
Hello! My name is Erin and I'm from the beautiful Cotswolds in the UK! A few years ago, I left the traditional route of my Geography degree to explore alternative ways of finding happiness. This led to working in an independent cake business, dipping my toes into self-employed gardening for various local people and working on transforming my own overgrown allotment for a couple of years.
However, at the end of 2024 I knew it was time for a change, and I've decided to make the most of my 20s and try to travel, volunteer and explore what else is out there! Workaway feels like the perfect opportunity to make new friends from across the world, learn new skills and get the opportunity to live in a new environment!
I would love to spend time throughout the year learning more about the world of off-grid living, permaculture gardening and self-sufficiency - although I am open to put my hand to anything, and am most looking forward to connecting with people across the world!
I spent 2.5 years volunteering for a charity which works with school children to develop their reading skills, so I would happily join a host with an energetic family home! I love spending time outdoors, climbing mountains, yoga, wild swimming and learning new arts and crafts. I also enjoy spending time in the kitchen, cooking and baking - although being coeliac means that I have had to be a little bit more experimental!
I can't wait to start travelling and experiencing more of what this community has to offer! :)Interests

More details about your skills
Although I have no training or horticultural qualifications, I've been a self-employed gardener for 2.5 years, after being fortunate enough to be shown how to garden from a young age due to growing up in the beautiful British countryside. But mostly I do this because I just love being outdoors and amongst nature!
Working in a small cake business I also acquired skills such as baking, interacting with a wide range of customers and barista training.
I am DBS checked from my voluntary work for a small charity which reads with local primary school children.
I am willing and able to give any task my best shot, and am keen to learn as many new skills as possible - especially in terms of off-grid living, permaculture, eco-building, preserving etc!Age

What else ...
In my spare time I love climbing mountains or hiking through beautiful scenic landscapes, and am also quite a keen wild swimmer! I am definitely a dog-friendly person, after growing up with our gorgeous sprocker spaniel dog since the age of 7 years old :) I absolutely love a board games evening, and can become especially competitive if presented with the chance to play 'Articulate'! In my down time I find myself reading a wide genre of books, practicing yoga and sewing small projects.
