Description
Ciao a tutti! We are Irene (32) and Emanuele (31), a stable Italian couple together for 4 years, travelling and working abroad since 2023.

We have solid Workaway experience in Australia and Southeast Asia, so we understand how this exchange works: clear communication, reliability, flexibility and respect for shared spaces. We integrate easily, take initiative and genuinely enjoy contributing.

We both speak fluent English (and French: Irene fluent, Emanuele conversational). We are used to multicultural environments and teamwork.
Our background includes:
- Pet sitting (dogs & cats but also possums and Australia native birds)
- Housekeeping & home care
- Hospitality support (reception in resort)
- Content creation & communication
- General practical help and outdoor work
We love nature, mountains and active lifestyles (hiking, climbing, exploring), but we are equally comfortable with daily routines and responsibilities. We are tidy, organised and independent.

For the summer season (May–October), we are looking for a paid part-time position. After several positive volunteer experiences, we now wish to stay longer in one place, build stronger connections and immerse ourselves more deeply in the local culture while maintaining stability and continuing our remote personal projects.

We are hardworking, easygoing and positive people who enjoy sharing spaces, conversations and simple joyful moments but we are also serious, responsible and committed when it comes to work.

Loves hiking, rollerblading, snorkeling and getting lost in a good book. Finds peace outdoors and energy in meaningful conversations.

We enjoy simple things: cooking and sharing meals, long walks, music evenings, spontaneous laughs and discovering local traditions.

The centre is a Theravadan Buddhist women's monastic community located near the village of Ban Rai in the Uthai Thani province of Thailand. The center is situated in a rural area, approximately 8 km from Ban Rai village. The center provides a place for novice nuns and fully ordained nuns, as well as Dhamma training and meditation, and walking meditation.

Your days are structured by a timetable that you can find in the common area and other volunteers can help you understand better what to do and that you have a lot of free time: so enjoy and be present and mindful of the moment you're living.
Every day starts at 4.30am: you have 30 mins to get ready and from 5 to 5:45 you meditate in the area with the nuns and volunteers; then we split in 2 groups so one stay and clean and prepare for breakfast and the other goes to collect the alms with the nuns. We can start eating around 7:30 and 8:30 depending if it's Buddha Day or not, but you can drink a coffee or tea while you wait. At 6:30pm you do half an hour of chanting and half an hour of meditation, then you go to bed or can stay until 9 pm in the common area if you like (but mosquitos can be annoying).

The accommodation is very rustic and don't expect comfort: you can have a 20cm gecko in your room but this can also be a chance to overcome your mental limits so... always see the positive and experience the real countryside in Thailand. You don't come here to be in a fancy room or on holiday. You must have a reason.

We're grateful for this experience, the nuns are always smiling and some of them shy but it's also because of the language barrier (only a couple of them speak a proper English) but remember that it's not always important to explain and talk all the time, you can experience and understand a lot simply by watching and listening to the nuns. They love cats and treat them like humans sometimes feeding them with warm water because "it's good for them".. so funny and cute.
