    Description

My name is Janet, I am a 52-year-old woman, and I share my home with my wonderful family of three dogs and one cat. We love going on long nature walks together, so being a genuine animal lover is a must if you want to stay here.

I currently live with chronic fatigue and long covid, which means my energy levels are limited and I highly value a calm and harmonious household. Because of my health, I need practical support with daily chores. You will also need to drive me and my dogs in my car to our walking destinations, and i would prefer it if you join us for these walks. This means we will be coordinating our daily routine closely together.

You will be taking over from a fantastic German lady who has been a great help to me until September. During your stay, it will just be you, me, and the pets sharing this lovely home. I live in a quaint and quiet village near the sea on the beautiful island of Texel. You will have your own large room, with double bed, tv, couch, table and nice view.

My three dogs and I absolutely love the nature here, and if you enjoy the outdoors, you will love this area too. The island offers a variety of stunning landscapes, which makes it perfect for long walks at the beach, in the woods, along the dyke, or through the dunes. It is a peaceful and safe environment where you can truly unwind, breathe in the fresh sea air, and experience the relaxing pace of island life.

Because of my health, our social activities are low-key and relaxing, focusing on the simple joys of life. Instead of busy social gatherings, we will spend our time enjoying the peace and quiet of the island, staying away from the typical tourist crowds.
Our dog walks provide the perfect opportunity to appreciate the beautiful, tranquil nature that Texel has to offer.

I am a psychologist by profession, which means I highly value open, meaningful conversations and have a deep interest in human nature and well-being. I can share my insights into psychology, as well as what living with chronic fatigue has taught me about resilience, slowing down, and truly appreciating the healing power of nature.

Additionally, I can share my extensive experience with dog care and behavior, as my animals are a huge part of my life. I also love to sew, and if you are interested, I would be more than happy to teach you the basics of sewing during our quiet hours at home. I just started it myself, so I'm no expert!

In return, I am very curious about your background and what inspired you to travel to Texel. I hope to learn more about your culture, hear stories from your travels, and perhaps you could even share a simple traditional recipe with me. I love to cook, if I have the energy for it.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

    Your Room:

You will be staying in a very spacious and bright private room located in the attic, featuring beautiful exposed wooden beams that give it a warm and rustic charm.
The space is large and feels more like a private studio, offering you plenty of room to relax and recharge in complete privacy.

It is fully furnished with a large, comfortable bed, a cozy sofa, and a flat-screen television for your entertainment. The room also features a highly comfortable electric lift chair, providing the perfect spot to rest and completely unwind.

Additionally, the room includes a round table with chairs, providing a great spot if you want to write, work on your laptop, or simply enjoy a quiet moment to yourself. With a window and skylights letting in plenty of natural light, it is a truly peaceful retreat after our daily walks and tasks.

    Shared Kitchen:

The heart of the home is the cozy, rustic shared kitchen and dining area, complete with traditional wooden ceiling beams. It is a fully equipped space with all the modern conveniences you might need, including a large fridge, a dishwasher, and various appliances to make preparing meals easy.

There is a spacious dining table that serves as our central gathering spot, perfect for sharing meals, having a cup of tea, or simply sitting down to coordinate our daily schedule. As you will quickly notice, it is also a lively and warm environment where the dogs love to hang out with us.

    Shared Bathroom

You will share a bathroom with me, which is located under a charming slanted roof.
It is fully equipped with a glass shower cabin, a toilet, and a washbasin.

    Garden

There is an overgrown garden. If you like gardening, you are very welcom to help the garden out.

We will share our meals and you will do the groceries and cook most of the meals, because I don't have the energy for that. Of course, any diet wishes will be respected within our meals.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

You will have plenty of free time to explore the beautiful island of Texel, and I am always happy to provide you with tips on where to go and what to do.

I have a little beach house right on the beach, which you are welcome to use to enjoy the sun and take a swim in the sea.

You can also take a beautiful bike ride along the dyke or even start your day with a refreshing morning swim there.

As for house rules, the most important thing is that we maintain a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere in the home, keeping my health and the animals in mind.

Regarding alcohol, I do not drink myself and I prefer a calm environment without heavy drinking. Enjoying a casual drink is absolutely fine, but this household is not a good fit for someone who drinks regularly or excessively.

We will coordinate your schedule together, ensuring you have a perfect balance between helping out and enjoying your time on the island.
