Hi! My name is Eli. I am 22 years old from Cymru (Wales, UK). I have a BA in English Literature and I am a recently qualified TEFL teacher. I have been volunteering as a teaching assistant for English learners for the past 8 months. I speak fluent Welsh in addition to English (my first language). I have 4 years of hospitality experience.

My motivation behind travelling is my search for connection and mutual understanding. I want to experience new cultures and ways of life that offer new perspectives and enrich my own worldview. I am an open and warm person.

I enjoy reading modernist writers such as James Baldwin, and fantasy books. I’ve recently started reading comics/manga as well. I enjoy hobbies which require my total attention. I love to longboard and cycle. I had a stint of boxing & Muay Thai classes, and I love to dance to live music as well (especially jazz).

I lived independently for 3 years during university. I am more than capable of being self-sufficient (e.g. cleaning/cooking/laundry etc.). I am active and am able to do physical work such as gardening. I take satisfaction in doing my work well.

While I haven’t worked with Workaway specifically before, I spent a summer in North Wales as a barista/bartender where I worked in exchange for lodging and food, so a very similar setup. It was an enriching and incredibly positive experience. I am happy to provide references upon request.

I’m also open to teaching a bit of Welsh if anyone is interested! I currently don’t speak Spanish, but I am very eager to learn. I don’t expect formal lessons (unless this is something you offer/discussed), but I would appreciate willingness to speak/practice Spanish with me!

I have a Bachelor’s Degree (Hons) in English Literature. After graduating, I successfully completed a level 5 TEFL course. Alongside this, for the past 8 months I have been volunteering as a teaching assistant for English learners who have migrated to the UK. I am qualified and confident when it comes to teaching English.

I also have 4 years of hospitality experience as a bartender and waitress. I am personable and welcoming, with excellent verbal communication skills. I am dependable and reliable; I always give the same effort! My experiences over the years have proven that I learn and adapt quickly to new information and environments.
