  • Description

After an amazing year and a half of traveling Australia, I'm continuing my journey here in Europe!
I've now been back home in the Netherlands for a bit and decided to continue my travels towards the south of Europe.

I'm interested to learn about sustainable building, self-sufficiency, regenerative farming/building practices, repair and reuse, carpentry and others world views and ways of living.
On top of this I'm also looking to work in hostels and similar accommodations, since I intend to one day myself provide a home away from home for travelers from around the world :)

This time around I travel with a stronger intent to learn where I would like to settle for a longer while, since I know my country of birth is not that place.
How long this will take, I have no idea! Maybe a few months, maybe a few decades. I'm in for the journey. I do know I will learn lots from it, meet many people, contribute to places, projects and people's life's and probably make a lot of new friends in the process. I found an old trustworthy toyota and together we'll discover and visit many great places and people.

My main occupation is CAD freelancing, making floorplans and 3D models of mainly wood cabins. Also property maps :) Besides this I volunteered at a local community garden I co-founded some years ago, growing herbs, vegetables and also mushrooms (indoor & outdoor) and delicious microgreens as well.
I have other self started passion/hobby projects, such as a prototype for an 3D interactive digital copy of real life places.
Whilst in Australia I've designed a tiny house for someone, worked on a corn farm, and worked at a construction company doing all sorts of tasks.

I'm very interested to get to know those who host me and have a good time together, the social part of doing workaway always brings me a lot of joy and is important to me.
I'm a quick and keen learner who doesn't shy away from labor intensive work. I love doing things together, but am also very independent. I'm also very tidy, and leave places cleaner then I found them.

Feel free to reach out and ask anything! Even if it's just for advice about some of the things I have knowledge about. Happy to share.

  • More details about your skills

I've lived independently in a house with a garden for over 3 years, giving me plenty experience in gardening, housekeeping and how to give a house the love it deserves.

Working at the community garden taught me a lot about teamwork and physical work.

I love to repair things, build things, and problem-solve. Re-use and cost effective thinking are deeply ingrained into how I go about basically anything.
One of my successes was reviving my 20yo vacuum cleaner. I also built a micro-camper setup with foldable bed, dual battery system and fridge into my first car which worked out really well. Recently I build a sturdy custom desk to fit the corner of my room, made from reclaimed materials.

I like making (vegetarian) sushi, my specialty is banana-avocado (you will like it, trust me). People tell me I'm good at making rice.

I know a thing or two about growing culinary mushrooms and micro-greens.

Digital skills include making 3D visualizations, floor plans and area maps. Also know my way around any computer related issues.

I'm an organizer, leave your messy storage to me for an hour or two.

I'm quality over quantity, I prefer to do things right than to do something rushed and don't mind putting in effort to get something done.
I also don't mind doing repetitive every-day tasks, I usually find them meditative to do, a nice moment to clear the mind.

I have some basic experience with carpentry (Like my car camper conversion and desk) and I'm very interested to get more into it.
