Description
SANTIAGO, Chile - NOVEMBER 2026
Welcome,
I'm Alysia, daughter of a British mom and a Spanish dad but born and raised in Belgium. I left the country in 2012 and have been living and working in mostly English speaking countries.
My main passions are yoga and dance, being in nature and finding community in different pockets of the world.
My goal for this year is to become near fluent in Spanish and spend my free time hiking, crocheting, reading and drawing/tattooing. I'd like to live more intentionally and present.
I would love to pick up new skills along the way, especially surrounding permaculture.
My WorkAway preferences are hostels, permaculture farms, intentional communities or working with kids and women, NGO's, and at animal sanctuaries.
For a full list of skills I can offer, see the skills section but in short:
- Hospitality
- Photography/Social Media
- Yoga Teacher
- Grant Writer
--------------
Bienvenida,

More details about your skills
Hospitality - I've worked in various hostels, hotels, chalets, cafés, etc around the globe as a housekeeper, barista, (hsk and bistro) supervisor and eventually (hsk and café) manager.
Certified Yoga Teacher - I've taught yoga in England as a volunteer at my local rowing club , the Whitby women's circle in 2024 & at Freediving Nicaragua in 2026.
Activity Leader - I created and led activities for a women's circle and led children's activities.
Content Creator/Writer - I was the Editor in Chief for a local magazine in my Belgian hometown, and have written several articles (and one novel) in my life.
Photographer/Social Media - I've volunteered as a photographer for Ritmo Del Rio, an ecolodge/emerging conservation hub, in San Rafael, Colombia.
(Non-profit) Grant Writer/Consultant - I created a CIC (Community Interest Company) in the UK and applied for my own funds, etc. I co-worked on a conservation project for Ritmo Del Rio in San Rafael, Colombia. I would love to help other organizations with designing programs, brochures, translating documents and applying for grants.
Certified TEFL Teacher - No experience but native English speaker (my mother is British.)
I have experience working on farms and homestays via WWOOF (US and Canada.) I've planted and harvested various vegetables (onions, beans, potatoes, etc) and some fruits (cherry picking, etc.) -

What else ...
I love working with my hands in general. I did a pottery course last year and love creating useful, yet beautiful things.
I started a women's circle in 2024 to bring my community in the UK together and do things that didn't involve drinking or spending too much money.
I have half baked notions of buying some land in Spain one day to start an intentional community/permaculture hostel so I would love to stay in similar places to get a feel for the lifestyle. -

The work is really relaxed, one of the easiest volunteering I've ever done in my life. A bed and three meals a day in exchange for socialing with the guests (welcoming guests, … read more
All the staff members are wonderful, and the food is incredible. Great place to learn Spanish as it's also a school and they'll speak to you in Spanish (if you want to practice, of course.)
