Description
Hello there!
My name is Alex and I want to Work Away:)
A little bit about myself
So my name is Alex, I'm 40, I live and work in Arnhem, in the east of the Netherlands.
I live together with my two best friends in an old house from +-1900 which we are constantly renovating.
We don't have a garden, but we do have a nice big roof terrace which we are trying to make as green as we can with flowers and herbs.
I work in the local organic food shop, so i'm accustomed to physical work and working together.
In my spare time like to go to the nearby park or forest, play guitar, watch a movie or hang out with friends.
Volunteering experience
Some things i've done in my own home and garden or during volunteering are listed below.
Some things i've done often, others only once or twice and of course i am by no means a professional!
Don't hesitate to ask if you'd like more information.
What i'd like to learn while Workawaying:
Generally:
I'd like to learn more about sustainable and independent ways of living and see how other people live and work together.
..And in the process hopefully meet nice people:)
More specific, i like gardening like to learn more about it.
How to grow and pair vegetables, herbs, flowers (aromatic or medicinal), how to apply permaculture principles in reality.
Building:
Would like to learn more about building with natural materials
Allergies
And unfortunately indeed: I have food allergies
I am allergic to dairy, so i can't eat any milk, yoghurt, butter or cheese foods or foods that contain them.
I am also allergic to nightshades, so no tomato, no potato, no bell pepper/paprika.
On the bright side:
I can imagine that it sounds complicated, but it's really not so bad.
Allergies aside i am pretty flexible with food, i like almost anything and i can help with cooking. And there are so many vegetables that aren't nightshades!
And it doesn't have to be anything "special".
If you're not sure what to feed me, you can always go to bread and beans, or veggies and rice and i will be completely content:)
Also, I'm flexible with meat, fish or vegan food.
Whatever you can share, i'll eat greatefully.
Finally: I'm not so allergic that i'll die, so don't worry too much about it;)
