Mara stayed a good length of time at my place and had a cheerful disposition around the home. Her tasks were general cleaning, gardening, planting small trees and shrubs and clearing the yard. She also worked on a Deck Project in which she was amazing on. She pretty much completed building a small backyard deck by herself with only some finishing touches to go. Thank you Mara for the beautiful deck and I will send a photo once it is finalised. Enjoy your time in Brisbane.

I met wonderful people during my stay in Asturias. In August I spent a lovely time with Ángela, Valeria and the family. They adopt me like a member of the family from the first moment. It was so nice to find the family in airport waiting for me and welcome me with a big hug! The house is surrounded by nature and close to the cliffs to see a nice sunset. Ángela is hospitable, she helped me with suggestions on places to visit and things to do and bring me to the airport. Mari and Marcus are excellent cooks! Mari always cooked something good for me. Valeria is a nice, happy and active kid. She is always smiling and was patient with my Spanish. I spent fantastic and fun time with her! Together we did a lot of activity: drawing, having fun with face painting, playing with dolls, making hair braids, artistic gymnastics, making science experiments, playing with Italian, going to the beach, swimming pool, artwork and other things. I also lead an Italian workshop at Valeria's summer camp. I've seen wonderful places and spectacular views during my free time, I have traveled a lot in Asturias. It was an opportunity to improve my Spanish. I’m hope to see you again, I will bring with me these memories for a long time. Gracias por esta experiencia. ¡Ven a visitarme a Italia! Minha experiência com a Andrea foi muito positiva. Ela é uma anfitriã extremamente receptiva e amigável, sempre disposta a ajudar e a se envolver tanto nas tarefas do dia a dia quanto nos momentos de lazer. Mesmo com o período de muita chuva, consegui aproveitar bastante o tempo ali, especialmente pela tranquilidade e pela oportunidade de ter meu próprio quarto, banheiro e cozinha, o que tornou minha estadia ainda mais confortável. Infelizmente, precisei encurtar meu voluntariado para me dedicar a um trabalho de última hora que exigia uma conexão de internet mais estável. Mas com certeza, se eu voltar a Paraty, farei questão de visitar novamente a Andrea e sua "cachorrinha" Puma. :)

Abbiamo avuto un'ottima esperienza. Eliana e Abel sono aperti e disponibili anche a imprese impegnative come svuotare, pulire e rimettere a posto tutta la libreria della casa. È stato bello e piacevole lavorare con loro per il loro entusiasmo e la loro capacità di affrontare sfide diverse e di portarle a termine con cura,determinazione ed efficacia. I spent 10 days at Ed’s place — 10 really great days. We built a stone path leading to his parking area, set up solar panels, and insulated his ceiling. That was the “work” part. The work wasn’t hard, and I learned a lot about construction and renovation. Besides that, Ed was always happy to show me around the area — from hikes in the Portuguese mountains to little walks near his home. We went to the Melgaço market together and enjoyed some delicious pastéis de nata. Ed is also always happy to play chess, and we ate fruits and vegetables from his garden. The studio he’s arranged downstairs is very nice, with a beautiful view of nature and, further below, Melgaço. If I’m ever in the area again, I’ll definitely come by to say hi ;) Thanks for everything, Ed!

Clara is simply a wonderful person and workawayer. I feel as if I was very lucky to have hosted her. A diligent, considerate, humble and strong person. She communicates very well and goes about her day in a joyous way, just happy to be getting her hands dirty, to be getting stuck in to doing something and doing it well. Her contribution work wise was absolute, which was hauling and stacking a large amount of firewood from one end of the garden to the other. The warmth of the home and workawayers of the future will echo Clara's efforts. We were easily and comfortably able to be in each others company and have quiet moments, while also at other times enjoy conversations discussing books, music and life over a laugh and a glass of wine. All in all, I can highly recommend Clara as a workawayer to any prospective hosts.

Chika was the perfect workawayer to host: always pleased with everything (food, activities, friends, etc.), very helpful, autonomous and taking appropriate initiatives. And she had a nice sense of humor! I really enjoyed her stay here, and I thank her for everything she taught me about Japan (culture, langage, food cooking, etc).

We stayed at Deb’s for about 7 weeks, and we couldn’t recommend this place enough to all the nature and animal lovers and to anyone who wants to find out what it really means to fully reconnect with Mother Earth. We are like this, and with Deb we found the perfect place for us. The feelings of waking up with many kangaroos in front of the caravan eating grass, we enjoyed eating the plants that we’ve been watering and taking care of, working on projects to make the duckpins more fun and comfortable for the ducks, collecting and eating fresh eggs every single day, they are all indescribable. You gotta come and try it yourself! The work is a combination of physical work such as shuffling mulch, digging holes, carrying heavy things around etc and lighter work such as watering plants, painting and cleaning. Make sure that you are a right fit by being physically strong enough to do this work (under hot and humid weather conditions) and that you are not scared of getting your hands dirty and doing the physical jobs. Deb will take good care of you, she will feed you incredibly good food, she will share her knowledge with you, be open for your knowledge to be shared with her and she’ll always be ready for a nice chat and a laugh together. Thank you Deb (and Clancy). This has been a very important chapter in our lives. See you soon x

Looking for the perfect volunteer? Well, you found her! We have absolute not one bad thing to say about Chloé.She was so pleasant to have around in our team. She's a hard worker, communicates very clear and respectful and is always ready to learn new things. Just make sure that the chocolate is hidden (joking ofcourse ;) ). Chloé, thank you so so much for the wonderful weeks and all the hard work you've put into our project. Our doors are always open and we wish you all the best in your upcoming adventures!

It was fun to have Filip in our team! He needed a bit of time to find his way in and around our project, but when he did he became a great teammember. We are happy he could stay for a couple of weeks and help us out in the garden, with the animals and in the general upkeep of the facility. Thank you Filip for your patience, your persiverence and ofcourse all your help! The kittens miss you!

My friend and I stayed for about 3 weeks here and we really enjoyed our time there. We didn't have much to do due to the season, so we had a lot freetime to explore dominical. Toni and her family are very relaxed people who you can always ask for help.

I spent an amazing 5 weeks (Sep 15-Oct 20) with the Gaby and her family, I would highly recommend it! I would feed the guinea pigs in the morning, have breakfast with them, then begin working for the day. The work ranged from helping pick mandarines, harvest choclo (corn), fertilize/turn soil, weed, package produce for the market and more. I even went with Jorge (Gaby's brother) to the market in Ambato a couple of mornings and was able to see the massive and interesting market. Daniel (Gaby's brother) and Gaby are very active, so if you are interested in trail running/hiking they are very knowledgeable of the area. I went on a hike with Gaby and her hiking club one day and got to meet everyone. Daniel and I went to Chimborazo for a short acclimatization hike one day, and then went to the summit of Carihuairazo with his guide friend another day! Daniel also DJs in town at a bar on Saturdays where many guides hang out and introduced me to other types of guides there! Daniel introduced me to the company which I used to go to summits of Cotopaxi and Chimborazo! The family was also very accommodating when I needed to take a day off of work to go into town and take meetings from my laptop. I also went with Gaby to the school she teaches english at several times and helped teach the kids, which was so much fun! Baños is a great little town with much to do, and it is central to other cool places like Riobamba, Latacunga, Puyo ect. While it was hard to leave I will consider Gaby, Daniel, and Jorge friends for life! Español: Pasé 5 semanas con la familia Chávez, y lo recomiendo mucho! Por la mañana, cuidaba a los cuyes y desayunaba con la familia antes de empezar el otro trabajo por el día. Les ayudaba juntar mandarina, cosechar choclo, el desyerbe, preparar para el mercado y mucho más. Algunos mañanas, fui al mercado muy grande en Ambato con Jorge (hermano de Gaby) también. Gaby y Daniel (hermano de Gaby) son muy activos y si te gusta hacer trail running/trekking ellos son muy informados! Fui en un caminata con Gaby y su club de excursionismo que me fue muy divertido. Daniel y yo fuimos en un pequeña caminata a Chimborazo para aclimatarnos un día, y un otro día fuimos a la cumbre de Carihuairazo con su amigo quien es guía y fue genial! Daniel conoce muchas guías y empresas de excursionismo en Baños y puede ayudarle con cualquier actividad que desee. El me presentó la empresa que usé para ir a la cumbre de Cotopaxi y Chimborazo! Fui con Gaby a su escuela a donde ella es profesora de ingles y le ayudé enseñar los niños! Estoy tan agradecido por la familia Chávez , su habitación, su comida (la mejora colada morada del país), mi poncho que ellos me regalaron, y su amistad! Gracias amigos, y hasta luego!

We stayed with Helen and Arthur for a week, and it was honestly such a beautiful experience! They made us feel super comfortable from the very first moment we arrived. They’re both amazing people with an incredible mindset and value system that truly inspired us. We shared lovely dinners, some fun board games, and deep conversations about life and travel — all of which meant a lot to us. We were a bit worried about our English level at first (still a work in progress!), but with them we always felt relaxed, listened to, and understood. Our main tasks were general house cleaning and preparing dinner, usually from 8:30 until lunchtime. Because of some bad weather and a power cut, we also helped a bit in the garden — which turned out to be really fun! We really hope we were helpful during that little moment of chaos, and we’re sending hugs from afar. We absolutely recommend spending some time on this lovely farm!

This was the most beautiful and complete experience we’ve ever lived. We have not enough words to describe our amazing experience in Thailand at the foundation, Hands-Off Elephant Sanctuary, everything was just perfect. We loved it so much that we extended our original stay of 1 month to another extra month. >>> Our key takeaway: We had the opportunity to accompany the head of the NGO to rescue a new elephant named Khun in January 2025, filming interviews with the previous elephant’s owner and being part of her transportation team, creating videos for their social media and updating the donors about the process. We both also loved Guiding Tours for the tourists and celebrating 2024 Christmas with all the volunteers at a local community with the Mahouts (the elephant caretakers), discovering other traditions and enjoying the holidays all together. Regardless of when you go, your experience will be unique as they are always improving the life of the elephants and adding new activities for the tourists. The project is very well run, there is a blend of cultural immersion, doing a job with purpose, enjoying nature in your free time and eating local Thai food everyday at Patao’s delicious kitchen. Not to mention the relaxing and beautiful location at the River Kwai, staying in a private cabin as a couple, with an easy access to the city nearby and the Kanchanaburi Train, part of the famous "Death Railway", as well as the opportunity to visit Waterfalls and go for some hikes around on our days-off. If you get the chance to be part of the volunteer team, we recommend you exchange cash ahead of time and budget for a few extra excursions while you have the opportunity. >>> The typical tasks: There is an organized turn-over between volunteers, allowing the more experienced ones to train you during your first 2 weeks, in order to help run the Hands-off guided tours for the tourist groups. There were two main types of tasks, some people "Task A" would focus more on the preparation of the Tours, setting up the rooms and the Museum, getting everything ready for the guides, so that they would be also more likely prepared to guide the tours afterwards. The other group "Task B" would focus on slightly more physical tasks and helping the elephant caretakers, such as preparing the food for the elephants, carrying their daily fruits or preparing the puddings and drinks for the tours. We found that the organizers are very receptive to your preference in regard to the work and personal needs. They are very accomadating and appreciative. Thank you very much for your support, good management and flexibility with the volunteers. We keep in touch and hopeful to see you all again soon! Uwe war für eine Woche bei uns und es war ein rundum positives Erlebnis. Wir können ihn als Workawayer ohne Vorbehalt weiterempfehlen. Seine Arbeit in unserem Garten war schlichtweg exzellent. Er hat alle Bäume und Büsche mit großer Sorgfalt und einem sehr professionellen Know-how zurückgeschnitten. Das Ergebnis kann sich sehen lassen – unser Garten sieht fantausisch aus! Man merkt ihm die jahrzehntelange Erfahrung in der Landwirtschaft sofort an. Als Person ist Uwe ein sehr angenehmer, ruhiger und respektvoller Gast. Die Kommunikation war stets unkompliziert, die Gespräche waren bereichernd, und er war dabei stets diskret und hat die Privatsphäre aller respektiert. Uwe ist trotz seiner eigenen reichen Lebenserfahrung sehr offen, neugierig und bescheiden. Er ist körperlich noch sehr fit und absolut leistungsfähig. Jeder Host, der die Chance hat, Uwe bei sich zu begrüßen, kann sich auf eine enorme Hilfe, angenehme Gesellschaft und einen rundum verlässlichen Workawayer freuen. Eine absolute Bereicherung! Mathilde stayed here for a month this spring. She cleaned the apartments in the guesthouse and also at the campsite and also took care of the household. It was a real pleasure to have her here. She was happy and fun and very easy to communicate with. She did her job very well and I give her my highest recommendation.

Brigitte is a really nice host and is always there for you if you need anything! The casita is super cute and has everything you need. We had a great time there, especially with the dogs and cats. And the natural surroundings are beautiful! Brigitte ist wirklich ein sehr netter Host und ist immer für einen da, wenn etwas ist! Die Casita ist super süß und hat alles was man braucht. Wir hatten eine super Zeit dort vor allem auch mit den Hunden und Katzen. Und die Natur ist wunderschön!
