Khanom, the House and all the amazing people I had the honour of meeting there will always have a special place in my heart. P Joe and P Joy are such kind-hearted and interesting personalities, I liked them from the first moment. To support them with their busy daily life they allowed me to help wherever I could and I was happy to design some social media posts to advertise the beautyful place and absolutely delicious food they serve there! Leaving Khanom and saying goodbye to my new friends was really not easy. Karuna stayed with us for two weeks and taught children at our school and various schools where we had volunteer activities. She is a very sweet and friendly person. The children love her and she also helps us raise chickens and cats. She is ready to do all activities with fun and we cook together and learn Thai. We promise to meet again. You are always welcome here.

I stayed with Rinku for five days, and had a very comfortable experience. He is a warm and generous host and made sure I had a private room with an attached bathroom, as well as meals from the menu, which I really appreciated. I also loved meeting his family, and having a delicious traditional meal at his place! Rinku encourages volunteers to choose their own contributions, which is a unique and open approach. For me, it took a little time to figure out the best way to be useful. I initially offered help with the website and then explored the idea of redesigning some rooms, but those didn’t quite come together for various practical reasons. In the end, I initiated and helped with a deep clean of the upstairs kitchen area with the wonderful hard working Sonu, and together we had the kitchen spick & span! Rinku was always kind, flexible, and supportive throughout, and I’m grateful for his openness to suggestions, his recommendations, his concern for my safety, and the comfort of the stay. Volunteers who enjoy a more self-directed style of contribution will find his place a very good fit. Thank you Rinku, Sanjeet, Nana, Kaka & Sonu for all your support and help during my stay! I wish you all the very best, and looking forward to seeing how much more beautiful the guest house will be after the renovations.

I had an unforgettable experience doing Workaway in this village and would recommend it to people who are flexible, curious, and comfortable stepping into a lifestyle that may be very different from their own. Daily life there looks different in small but important ways—food, routines, communication styles, and expectations can all feel unfamiliar at first. I found that the experience went best when I leaned into that rather than resisting it. Trying new foods, adapting to a different pace of life, and staying open-minded are key! You’ll see lots of animals and probably even work with them (I was herding/caring for sheep, cows, and horses, for example). And the nature in the region really is 10/10.. enjoy it! One thing I’d recommend is not waiting to be explicitly asked to help. If you see something that needs doing, go for it. Initiative is appreciated, especially when language barriers make detailed instructions harder. The people here have great hearts, and if you’re open to the experience you will enjoy it thoroughly. This Workaway isn’t about structure or optimization—it’s about immersion. It was very informal and I had to make lesson plans from scratch without any reference materials except a book and a chalkboard. If you’re curious, adaptable, and willing to engage with people and daily life as it comes, you’ll get a whole lot out of it. Stay curious and have fun!

Carole and Daniel were an absolutely lovely couple to have. They helped a lot with cooking, baking, garden and were great company. I would highly recommend them for other hosts and look forward to meeting them again!

Colton from the U.S. was awesome to host. Super adventurous and he definitely knew how to make the most of his time here — river tubing, waterfalls, hiking, and fully enjoying everything the area had to offer. What I really appreciated is that no matter how much fun he was having, he stayed fully committed to helping every day. Colton is strong — not just physically, but in how he shows up and gets things done. He jumped into projects I’d been meaning to finish for a long time and made a real difference getting them done. Solid work ethic, great attitude, and genuinely easy to be around. Beyond the work, he brought calm, positive energy and fit naturally into our space. His sidekick was super cool as well and added to the good vibes. I’m truly grateful for Colton’s help. He’s welcome back anytime, and any host would be lucky to have him. 🤙

Where do I start? Ika and her family are beautiful people who made me feel like part of the family. This was my first Workaway so I had no idea what to expect. I spent time at the school where she teaches and we traveled to another city to help with her English Camp. That was an experience in itself. The students were polite, eager to learn and I enjoyed helping the students with the English language. Ika makes learning a language so fun! All the surrounding neighbours were incredibly kind, regularly dropping off food for me to try. Visits to the Nene's house were always fun with her home full of family and delicious food. Ika's daughters are sweet and the grandparents were welcoming. Ika is the ultimate host and if she was working, her mother or a friend would take me on adventures. She taught me so much about the Muslim culture and I really appreciated that. Yes, celebrity status so be ready for constant photo requests. We visited her friends at the beach, attended a wedding plus a day in Makassar to see the sights. Her home overlooks a rice field so I learnt about the process of growing rice. Fondest memory? Sitting in the front garden with Ika and watching the sunset over the rice fields while listening to the calls from the Mosque. Ika is one of a kind, I was well fed, had a comfortable bed and was surrounded by kindness. Thank you Ika, I hope I can return your warm hospitality in the near future!

My stay with Heather and Phil was an unforgettable experience. As a solo traveller in Australia they welcomed me into their home with a smile and made me feel at home far away from home. After getting stuck in the Cyclone, they agreed to have me with a very short notice and I'm so grateful for their help when I needed it the most. During my stay, Phil and Heather taught me so much from using the whipper snipper to changing belts on cars. There was never a dull moment. We had many interesting conversations and I got to help Phil with his jigsaw puzzles. Heather cooked wonderful meals every day - I miss these meals while I'm writing this review!!! I would highly recommend staying with Phil and Heather, as my first workaway experience, I could not have asked for a better experience.

We loved working with Elea. She is a lovely person with great energy, very sociable, respectful, and responsible. She managed to connect perfectly with the hostel and create a fun atmosphere in every activity. She always made sure to include everyone and make them feel at home. She is eager to learn and always tries to do things in the best possible way. We felt very comfortable with her and hope to see her again. We highly recommend her, if you’re looking for a committed and charismatic person, she’s the right one.

I've just had the pleasure of hosting Maja and Charlotte for 2 weeks. What a pleasure they were to have here. They were friendly, enthusiastic, bright, clean, quiet, organised and absolutely lovely to be around. Really hard workers. The Quiet achievers. They organised their exchange time with local bus trips and walks to really experience the true nature of the area and what it has to offer. I would and did invite them back at any time. I'm so incredibly appreciative of how they transformed my home in such a short space of time. I definitely recommend them as Workaways. Thanks girls. Happy travels. 💞💐🙏

I had a wonderful experience volunteering at the school in Ban Ko with Teacher Tim. First, a practical update for future volunteers: the accommodation is no longer in the house but in a separate room located nearby. The room is spacious, with a private bathroom and brand-new air conditioning. Lunch and dinner were always provided by teacher Tim, and the food was consistently very good. One small thing to keep in mind is that there is no fridge available, which can sometimes make things a bit less tricky. Another great advantage is that a motorbike is provided, which makes daily life much easier and gives you the freedom to explore the area. The school itself is truly interesting. There are eight different classes, and all the teachers welcomed us warmly. Working with the children was such a joy. They are incredibly cute, very attentive, and genuinely eager to learn. I would recommend coming prepared with plenty of songs and games, they already know quite a few songs and love participating. It was also beautiful to see their morning routine with gym, singing, and meditation. At lunchtime, they eat well and are impressively disciplined. Being able to share these daily moments with them was very special. I was volunteering with my two-year-old son, and he was incredibly well received by the entire team. I’m truly grateful for their patience and kindness. He’s not as disciplined as the other childrens and sometimes brought a little bit of chaos, but everyone was always understanding and supportive. Another big highlight is the location. Since volunteers only work in the mornings, you have plenty of free time to explore in the afternoons or on weekends. Chaiyaphum province has so much to offer. I especially loved Tat Ton Waterfall , I went there twice! You can even stay overnight in a bungalow or a tent. If you go further out, there are beautiful hikes and several national parks to discover. It’s really worth taking the time to explore. Overall, it was a fantastic experience. I loved having the opportunity to teach the children, and I truly hope we’ll have the chance to come back one day.

Yulia was a fantastic guest! Great energy, good person and fun to be around. Her skills with respect to interior design, social media and marketing are top notch and she went above and beyond to use them all to complete the tasks she was given. In addition to the tasks given Yulia took it upon herself to lead daily workouts and yoga routines. Was an absolute pleasure to have her in my home and I would definitely recommend her to other hosts.

Having Felix here was a very positive experience. He is quiet, well mannered, polite and willing to help with anything. We had a specific project of painting which required a lot of patience and care to be done correctly. The job Felix did was perfect. He is very metculious and aware of how to do projects. You will be very happy to have him stay with you.

This was a very fulfilling three weeks working with Dani and Amy, helping bring their land to life. Dani and Amy are amazing people, welcoming me into their space and sharing their community. The work itself is rewarding albeit hot and physical. They always accommodated where they could and were never short of good conversation. If you're not shy if getting your hands dirty, this is a great opportunity.

Simona and Luca did an absolutely amazing job, and I am truly grateful for their contribution. They created an incredible video for my project, honestly beyond anything I could have imagined. They managed to capture the soul of the place and show it at its very best. The photos were just as impressive, thoughtful, beautiful, and full of atmosphere. Their eye for detail and storytelling is remarkable, and the result is something I will treasure and use with pride. On top of their talent, they were a real pleasure to host: kind, respectful, positive, and easy to live with. I would recommend them without hesitation to any host looking for creative, reliable, and genuinely wonderful people. Tornate a trovarmi quando volete! Sarete sempre i benvenuti! 🌿✨ Mille grazie!!!!🙏

Noe

Katia and Roland, from Hawaii, joined us at the end of January 2026. They are any Hosts dream! Katia and Roland were happy to do any task that was asked of them. They are not from a farming background but that made no difference. We introduced them to the lambs. They watched them get shorn and picked up the wool. Roland then ear tagged them and Katia benched them. Team work! Next it was the 10 calves turn to be ear tagged and the 4 boys were castrated. The calves are at the perfect age (1-3 months old) to commence Training. Katia and Roland were excellent at this. They were so gentle and calm with each animal. Roland and Katia did weeding around the newly planted trees and shrubs then each plant had a bucket of mulch spread around it's base. One of the small gardens along the driveway (where Breno planted the Daisies) was also weeded. Each day they cared for all the chickens (food and water) and collected any eggs. Katia and Roland were proactive with tasks around the house. They cleaned the downstairs windows are got rid of the cobwebs. Fridge doors and benches were kept immaculate by Katia. One of our sheds has never looked so organised and tidy! Our yards were also put back in order - well, until the next storm blows pine needles around. Other things that they were keen to do included siphoning the dirty water from cattle troughs and spraying gorse! Theses guys have definitely passed farming 101! 👏 If you have a veggie garden be sure to let them have free rein of it! They cooked us some AMAZING meals, wonderful salads and soups. The herb dressings they made were the best! I now have more ideaas of what to do with all the herbs. We really enjoyed their company and highly recommend them to any Host.

I've been reflecting on the time I got to spend with this amazing Catalan family! I could not have asked for such a great first experience with Workaway. David and Eli are very experienced at hosting and they truly made me feel like I was at home. They made sure I was very comfortable. There was clear communication, clear expectations and they are just enjoyable people to be around. I got to stay with them for 2 months from October to December. Everything listed in their profile is exactly what you should expect. I enjoyed conversations with Eli and learned so much about Catalonia history, culture and food. Me and David also got to spend some time together as he was recovering from a recent injury. We went to a handball game which was very fun and I was able to help out with some driving. They are also amazing cooks and everything we ate was homemade and delicious. I got to spend a lot of time with Arlet and Ivet. I was able to connect with them very quickly. We played card games, did magic tricks, read together, played soccer, learned piano, laughed a lot and so much more. They are some of the smartest, kindest and funniest kids I know! We were able to find a lot of interests that we had in common. Arlet is currently into fitness and running and Ivet loves to learn new skills. One day I will beat you at chess :) While I was there, they were kind enough to include me in several family outings and events! We picked and roasted chestnuts, we went to a couple festivals and we celebrated Eli’s birthday! They were so thoughtful and made me a special Thanksgiving dinner since I was away for the holidays. As far as the job goes, I road a bike with Ivet to school a couple times a day and helped prepare lunch and helped with the laundry. I enjoyed it alot and it never felt like work. I was also able to work remotely from my laptop in my down time which worked out well for my situation.
The house is located at the base of a the beautiful Montsey mountains. You can walk right out of the house and go walking or running on trails in the forest. There is a bus station right in front of the house that goes to the train station. You can also take the bike to the school and catch a bus that comes frequently that takes you to the train station. From there, you can take day trips or weekend trips to cities all over the North of Spain. While I was there I visited. Barcelona, Madrid, Sitges, Tarragona, Girona, Montserrat, Cerbere and Tossa de Mar! Elisabeth was also so kind and always willing to help me arrange travel plans. You’ll are truly life long friends! Thanks again for bringing into your home!

I had a beautiful time here ! Silje and Diego are two gentle souls that have created an enchanting space full of charm. We started the mornings with checking in with each other and stretching. Following a delicious breakfast we would work approx 3 hours before having the rest of the day to ourselves. I loved the sounds of the jungle , music jams with fellow workawayers and the communal spirit. This place allows you to truly slow down so you can enjoy the sweetness of life and dive into yourself. I feel inspired to start my own permaculture project in Australia- thank you both!!!! highly recommend to others to visit!!! Wes
