    Description

I live in a 200 year old traditional Japanese house nestled in the peaceful countryside of Daigo, Japan. Surrounded by lush nature, this home is an ideal escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, offering a taste of authentic Japanese rural living. The house combines traditional architecture and historical charm with modern comforts, making it welcoming for workawayers looking for a unique cultural experience.

Here, you can experience the rhythm of rural Japan, with nearby hiking trails, beautiful landscapes, and a close-knit local community. My hope is to share this special place with people who are open to connecting with nature and exploring Japanese traditions. You can help me with daily tasks, running my cafe, general diy, renovating the house and maintain the large traditional garden. My hope is that my home will offer a memorable stay in the heart of Japan’s countryside.

    ‼️ Important note :
    - We are currently receiving messages from a large number of people, so to avoid unfairness, we will give priority to those who reply promptly and according to availability.
    - WE WILL ONLY ACCEPT WORKAWAYERS WHO HAS THE WORKING HOLIDAY VISA. Thank you for understanding. 🪪

My place offers a unique cultural exchange rooted in the beauty of traditional Japanese life.
Having lived in both Europe and Japan, I bring a broad perspective and can share insights into Japanese customs, lifestyle, and the nuances of adapting between cultures.
My home is steeped in history, and I’m excited to show you its traditional architecture and introduce you to various forms of Japanese artwork.
You’ll have the chance to experience authentic Japanese living in rural areas of Japan.
If it is interesting to you, I could connect you to local "senseis" to participate to workshops (calligraphy, traditional food making, etc).

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

🏠 The accommodation where you will stay is a 158 years old house, separate from the main house 🏠
It is also a very old Japanese traditional style guest house, full of character, which need to be respected. SPECIFIC CLEANING IS NOT REQUIRED, BUT IF YOU CAN NOT CLEAN THE SPACE YOU LIVE IN, PLEASE DO NOT APPLY.

🛌 Depending on the season, you might share your room with another workawayer or have your own separate sleeping area. The living area, small kitchen, and bathroom are shared with one or two other workawayers.
You will sleep in a tatami room, experiencing Japanese-style comfort, with a cozy kotatsu (heated table) to keep warm during cold days.
As it is a traditionally constructed wooden house, please be aware that it can become quite cold in the winter, but there is a kerosene heater and lots of blankets.

🧹Please try to keep it clean as much as possible. You can freely use the laundry machine and vacuum cleaner as needed.

🍱 Please purchase your own food and prepare your own breakfast.
As it is a remote location, I will drive you to the nearest supermarket for grocery shopping.
Please be prepare to cook your own food .
We might have lunch and/or dinner together some days, depending on my schedule.

🌱 For vegetarians, vegans or those with specific dietary requirements: please prepare all your own meals, since I have limited knowledge of those needs.
On occasion I can provide locally sourced vegetables.

🛬 Please arrive on a weekday, as I work during the weekends so I will not be able to pick you up from the station.

🚴 Free to use Bicycle to explore the immediate area (the next konbini is 1h30 hours away by foot)
