I had a great experience during my exchange at Marc and Kerrianne’s place. I felt comfortable, at ease and a part of the family. Marc is very knowledgeable with plants and has a lot of wisdom and experience to share about his work with native flora and fauna, natural building and healthy living. Kerrianne is passionate about her garden, efficient ways of leading day to day life and sharing a lot of engaging stories and experiences. They are both very respectful, caring and lead very healthy lifestyles. Jye, their son, is an awesome cook. He cooks a couple of times a week and the food is just fantastic (all the time!) The work I did was to my pace and comfort. It’s important to Marc and Kerrianne that you feel interested and comfortable in the help you are giving. They really make an effort for this. I felt that there was always space for me to be creative, make suggestions and help in ways that worked for both parties. Living and helping out in such a beautiful location - on their 80 acre property - with lots of forest, wildlife and other pet animals such as ponies, sheep and cows truly makes it easier to work on the land. Thank you Marc and Kerrianne for being so kind and considerate. I felt so welcomed, cared for and at home. I hope to be in touch and visit in the future. I wish you all the best.

My volunteer lasts 1 week and it was amazing. I was the only volunteer but I liked a lot. if you love welcoming guests, sharing information and experiences, this is the perfect match for you. Tasks focus mainly on use English and French to welcome guests, manage rooms allocation, guests assistance (on the Thakhek Loop anything can happen, so be ready!), and volunteer helping and planning. I think that, even if not required, it's important that the volunteer did the Thakhek Loop before the volunteering. This helps a lot in guests suggestion or understanding their needs. About the family, what can I say? they are AMAZING. I felt more than welcomed. they are super kind and are always ready to help. I loved this experience in the hospitality and recommend it to anyone who loves hospitality. I did the Loop, and I strongly believe that this is the most beautiful location where to stay on the first and last stop of it. I loved it.

I had the pleasure of getting to stay with Phil and Kev for a few weeks and couldn’t have asked for a better first Workaway experience. They are incredibly generous with their space and time. I helped out in the garden, did some cleaning around their B&B, and spent loads of time with Pippin, Polly, and Miel. Coming in I didn’t have any garden experience but they were so gracious with any questions I had and I quickly learned a lot! They took such good care of me while I was there, feeding me lots of great food and wine over many wonderful conversations and movies/tv shows. We became fast friends and I think anyone would be lucky to work with them! See you both again soon!!😉

It was very nice getting to know Fran, Coco, and Amber and we loved staying with them. We spent 2 weeks at Fran’s place and she was very welcoming and made us feel at home. She made it easy to understand what we had to do by giving us a detailed to-do list of the general things she wanted done. But she was very flexible with the timing of most tasks. Taking care of the pets was a priority and we loved being part of their routine. Fran’s place has a very cozy feel to it and we felt great being there throughout the whole stay. The places in the blue mountains that are closer to her place were also very beautiful, just need some planning due to the time it takes to get to them and back. We definitely recommend staying with Fran, she’s a great host. And Coco and Amber are very cute and made the stay even better.

I stayed at Pignataro for 4 weeks in January and can only recommend it! Me and 2 other Workawayers (plus one main manager and sometimes Sara) stayed in a big house, my room was also so big and beautifully decorated! The work rhythm is usually the same, feeding in the morning and then cleaning some dog pens whenever you want. Some days we went to the vet or grocery shopping. We got really spoiled with food, Italy has so tasty vegetables and oranges! Apart from that there's so much free time that you can spend with the dogs, with the Workawayers or driving to the surrounding cities. In the beginning we had some communication issues in the team which made it difficult for me to find my groove, but after that cleared up I enjoyed the very mild end of winter in Italy! FYI, you might have a dog in your bedroom (I had 2 during my stay because they had injuries that had to heal). I miss you guys and am still very impressed by the work you're doing (especially Sara, but also all the wonderful and dedicated volunteers!) If you're reading this but don't have capacity to volunteer right now, check out the Instagram of the shelter, spread the name etc, there's so many gorgeous dogs who are looking for homes!

Paula was a fantastic addition to our 2025 mountain summer camp team. She has a naturally calm demeanor that works wonders with kids. She managed to create wonderful relationships with the kids in a very short period of time. Paula is reliable, kind, and just generally great to have around in a high-energy environment like a summer camp with kids aged 6 to 12. Thanks for everything, Paula! Wish you the best on your next adventures.

I spontaneously stayed with this community for a week, as they reached out to me asking for help. I really enjoyed the work, usually I got picked up in the morning and we went to the olive fields to sort and cut parts of the trees under the spring sun. In the working group the communication was always on eye level and people regularly checked in on everyone's mood. The community is spread over a big piece of land, I was accommodated at one end of the land so socializing with the group was connected to some effort with transportation (if you don't have your own car). Typically there's a weekly bar evening which is nice to get to people more, during my stay we also went to 2 birthday get togethers in the community which was nice! I had a good time and met interesting people, also the view is really amazing! Communication about my arrival could've been better but I know that it's harder in a big community to make sure everyone gets the same information. 😊 Thank you guys!

Heather stayed with us for two weeks and helped us with lots of different projects. She spent time researching topics such as composting, organic fertilizer and pesticide and then helped us implement them in our gardens. She assisted us with some of our inventories and other maintenance projects. Heather was a courteous and down to earth guest and we enjoyed her company. During her stay we had an outdoor cinema night, went to town for lunch and did some second hand shopping. It was a good two weeks and we would recommend Heather to other hosts. Thank you Heather we wish you all the best with your future plans!! Xx

Top recommendation for Corrado! He stayed with us for over two months and was an absolute pleasure to host. Corrado is incredibly easy-going, friendly, and genuinely interesting — he's an excellent chess player, a well-educated musician, and a passionate cook who took over our kitchen with real enthusiasm and skill. He helped immensely with every kind of task we had: physically demanding work, tedious chores, or those needing patience and precision — he always stepped up and did exactly what was needed without complaint. The only 'downside' is that we've probably forgotten how to cook ourselves, since Corrado fed us so deliciously that no one else had to worry about meal prep! If you're looking for a reliable, talented, and fun volunteer, Corrado is fantastic — highly recommend!

Takeo is such a decent nice gentleman. We could not be more lucky to have him here. He was always very considerable and polite, he totally understood how the rithm of our life is and perfectly fitted into our family living. He helped us with lot of work in the garden, even a hard job included digging. He always worked very hard and we did not need to check him, He was responsible and he would not have taken a break if we had not told him. Takeo was also so nice, that he cooked Japaneese meal for us. The meal was delicious. He also brought us many nice presents. Last but not last he was totally perfect with our kids. We really did not expect that a young guy could be so good with kids, but he was absolutly perfect. We highly recommend Takeo to anyone, who needs a help with kids. Thank you, Takeo and hope we could meet agsin.

I had a really great experience with this host. During my stay, we shared Ramadan breakfasts together, which made the experience even more special and meaningful. Suwita and her family were incredibly kind and welcoming. All the sons are grown men, and honestly, they became like friends to me—we spent a lot of time sitting together, talking, and going out by car. One time, we even went on a full-day trip to a beautiful island, and it was an unforgettable experience. The stay lasted for about a week, and I truly enjoyed it. The food was delicious, and the house itself is large and beautiful. However, since I come from a city background and have lived in urban environments most of my life, I did struggle a bit with insects. But honestly, that’s completely normal for such a natural and countryside setting. I also had the chance to try new activities like archery and kayaking, which added a lot of fun to my stay. The work was well organized—usually in the morning and after Asr—and it wasn’t too exhausting. Most of it involved gardening, especially building raised garden beds, which was a nice and rewarding experience. Overall, I highly recommend this host. It was a unique cultural and natural experience that I will always remember.

My month stay with Maté was truly special. Maté is an excellent host, I find him kind, respectful, and very attentive to making sure volunteers feel comfortable and valued. He provides a good range of tasks to choose from, which made the work feel meaningful and never forced. The place itself is a gem: remote, super quiet, immersed in beautiful nature, and the ideal spot to disconnect from the modern world and recharge. I loved the calm atmosphere and the chance to contribute while enjoying such a serene environment. Plus I loved his dogs and chickens!, very friendly! Highly recommend!

Tori stayed with us during March 2026, we had an initial video chat with her and we could tell from that chat she was a lovely person. From the moment we met Tori after picking her up at the train station we knew she would fit in, a warm welcome with a big smile and a hug. Tori instantly fitted into our lifestyle, she created a quick and lovely bond with our pets, who adore her. Tori is a hard worker and learns quickly, she is conscientious and does everything with a smile. She met our friends, came along to events and has become a good friend to us and our pets. We have no problem becoming Tori as a work away, in fact she is coming back to help us again in April. Thank you Tori for all your help and friendship, safe travels, see you again soon. Love and hugs Phill, Kev, Polly, Pippin and Miel xxxx

Liebe Grüße an euch alle! Katrin

I stayed here for 2 weeks and they were an amazing family, I mostly helped outdoors building and improving some things, but also played games and helped with the children and some cooking. They instantly welcomed me and were a fantastic family to spend time with. The village and it's surroundings are also beautiful and extremely peaceful. Overall it was an incredible experience and thank you to the whole family ☺️

This was a second pair of people from Denmark Marie and Ida. They taught English with incredible creativity, introducing the children to many fun songs, engaging games, and interactive activities that made learning joyful and effective. The children at school and even those in our neighboring communities absolutely loved them, lighting up with excitement every day! Beyond teaching, Marie and Ida enthusiastically joined other school activities, built strong bonds with the children and staff, and got along wonderfully with fellow volunteers at our guest house. They adapted so quickly to our local food, humble community, plus our simple resources. They even extended their stay with us from 3 weeks to a full month and three more days and we never stopped enjoying every bit of their stay with us. Their warmth, patience, and positive energy were infectious. Thank you so much for the beautiful impact you made! You are always welcome back, please return soon!

We stayed for two weeks with Alison, and really enjoyed our time! The work was simple, a bit of gardening and maintenance, but mostly we helped Alison with Airbnb cleanings and changeovers. Expectations were clearly communicated and we always knew what we had to do. Our room was really nice and spacious, and we felt very comfortable in the space. Alison was kind enough to prepare meals for us, and she did everything she could to make us feel at home. Alison is a kind, generous and good person, and she went out of her way multiple times to help us. She made such an effort to welcome us in her community, from hosting poetry nights with all her friends to showing us beaches and inviting us to go surfing with her, or bringing us to her French lessons. We are very grateful for everything she did for us, and we highly recommend that anyone stays with Alison and Coco Chanel.

Yes, communication was challenging, because Olga was still learning German and our Russian is not exciting. But we managed also this part. ☺️ Olga was incredibly helpful, cleared lots of spaces in the garden, seeded and put new plants and: delivered an unbelievable good cake! We had a great time and wish you all the best on your travel on! If you ever plan to come back to Drahnsdorf, you are very welcome!
