What a wonderful volunteer experience this has been! From the first moment of my arrival at this beautiful eco lodge I felt welcome and truly appreciated! Manon and Pierre are the most welcoming hosts and really made me feel at home here. The tasks are easy to learn and fun to do, especially if you enjoy interacting with international guests and providing heartfelt friendly service to them, be it during meal services at the restaurant or doing check-ins and check-outs. There is a beautiful jungle yoga deck with stunning views to the sea where Manon teaches a not to be missed, lovingly designed yin class every week. Also, I was very happy for the chance to teach some yoga classes there during my one month stay. The accommodation provided was exceptional: a bedroom to myself with a comfy bed in a spacious apartment with bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen that I shared with another volunteer. You are only a 10 min boat ride away from the main island where you can easily do grocery shopping or find restaurants and entertainment if you´re up to it. I was regularly offered rides on Pierre´s boat which was very convenient and saved the $6 fee for the taxi boat. hank you so much, Manon & Pierre, for letting me live this incredible experience and making me feel so at home! There will always be a space in my heart for you!

As Jeremy mentioned, Vai and I were unable to meet him, as we were out of state during the time he was volunteering. However, the feedback we had on him was excellent. Great worker, sincere seeker. Attended many of the in house programs. Derived the maximum benefits from his stay. As the hosts, we were very happy with Jeremy, and would welcome him back anytime.

The 2 weeks Suzette was with us passed too fast . It was a great experience on all counts. On the personal side, Suzette is a great human being. Happy , always with a smile on her face or a rolling laugh that you can hear from afar , always willing to help, sharing stories from her experiences in life and listening to others . Her skills and knowledge are incredible, she knows to maintain a garden to the fullest. No job was too hard . She taught the other volunteers how to do things which saved me tons of time . During the time Suzette was in the quinta , she planted over 50 new trees , worked in the orchard pruning the fruit trees , helped planting strawberries before the winter comes , fenced new planted areas to protect the new seedlings from the chickens , and son-on and so forth…. We spend great time sharing dinners together with the other volunteers that were here , eating , drinking, sharing stories until late at night .

The experience with Emma was a bit mixed. She is a kind and friendly person and in the week she was here we had nice talks, nice rids, good time working and with horses. We went cross-country skiing together which was quite fun with Kaiserschmarrn in the end. Her english is pretty good, her riding skills surely above beginner and she is willing to learn and improve. Sofar it is all fine. What was a bit of an issue was: she came with a friend here to stay for 2 months and the friend had to leave after a week on short notice as she got a very important job offer she really looked forward to. And then she just texted us that she will leave the same day - which was just 2 days in advance. She had some personal reasons for that, but some direct talking would have been really nice as well before the decision. Maybe she could have stayed some more days to give us chance to find a replacement for the work which usually is done by workaway-guests. We planned with her for 2 months and a 2-day-notice to leave is surely possible, but not very kind to us. Maybe we did something wrong, but I do not think so, as we really had a good time before and at least she did not tell us about any issues she had with us, but only other reasons to leave. Thus our view of her reliability and communication skill is not the best. Sorry.

Sophie was a great guest. My current work needs me to overtime quite a lot and Sophie really saved me for taking good care of my pets. She also kept my place clean and nice. If you’re checking this reference to decide whether to host her or not, don’t hesitate to say yes. She will be always welcomed at my place.

Sarina is a fun-loving, warm, and very social young woman who brought great energy to our home. She really enjoyed spending time with the dogs and took them on long, happy walks with our other volunteer — my dog Chad even developed a bit of a crush on her! She handled her responsibilities with the dogs and household tasks reliably, and she kept a fairly independent schedule, often out exploring and connecting with friends. She has a lively, creative spirit (I later learned she used to sing in a metal band!), and she brought that fun personality with her wherever she went. Thank you for passing through, Sarina — and especially for pouring so much love into the dogs. Chad still misses his first “celebrity crush.”

I started this Workaway in late December, house / pet sitting for the family whilst they were away for a few days over New Years. I spent a total of one month here with the family, who are truly easy to live with - in the sense that I felt very comfortable in their home and never an unwanted guest. Indeed there was a language barrier with the children, with my minimal Italian and the children's minimal English - but in general I felt that we found a way to communicate, play ,and be together comfortably in the house. I'm grateful for Sofia's clear communication (and excellent English) and relaxed nature. She is very thoughtful and kind and made sure I had what I needed. The work itself was simple and I enjoyed the variety of tasks - being with the children, preparing simple meals, mowing the lawn, painting a bathroom, maintaining the fire and wood. I had not been to Lucca before but I would suggest anybody to visit as it is a cute old town, and the area they live in is beautiful for walking / running. Their animals are very cute and affectionate, and their home beautiful and full of colour. I would recommend this Workaway to anybody who is considering contacting the family. I'm thankful for this time 😊

We spent two wonderful weeks volunteering with David and Renetta in December, and this experience was both very enriching and deeply inspiring. We learned so much about permaculture. They are very gentle, simple, and genuine people who truly enjoy sharing and passing on their knowledge. We spent beautiful moments together talking, cooking, gardening… and Renetta taught us how to make our own bread ! Their little daughter Lea is a true ray of sunshine. We loved watching her grow in such a natural, caring, and life-respecting environment. David and Renetta are true role models for us, both through their way of life and the values they embody. We are deeply grateful for this experience :) See you very soon !

Staying with Luc and Andreza was a very nice start to my trip, just as I had hoped. It was a calm and relaxed environment, perfect for getting used to Brazil after traveling from far away. I stayed with them for two weeks, and they welcomed me with kindness and openness from the start. The house is very peaceful, and I had plenty of free time. Luc kindly invited me to participate in his swimming classes and to visit the market, and outside of that I made my own plans, either alone or with another volunteer. My work consisted of arriving 20 minutes before the classes to help set up the space and welcome the students. I was able to participate in almost every class, which I really enjoyed. The classes are held in Portuguese, so even though I didn’t understand everything, it was a great opportunity to practice the language by listening. The community here is warm and welcoming. Everything was exactly as described in the profile. I had my own private room and even an entire upstairs area with my own bathroom, since another volunteer stayed in the downstairs bedroom. The house is honestly very nice and extremely clean. The bed was super comfortable, and I slept like a baby for the whole two weeks. Andresa cooked amazing vegetarian dishes, and I was free to eat and cook whatever was available in the house. It was amazing trying so many new exotic fruits and vegetables encouraged by Luc. I found Ribeirão Pires to be a chill neighborhood, with everything I needed nearby. There are some nice parks to explore, as well as an easy one-hour train ride to São Paulo city center. Thank you so much! :)

Rebecca poured a lot of love into my four dogs and I started to wonder if they might run away when their "personal masseuse" left. LOL. She took them on great hikes and they liked her so much. She also helped clean the casita of the volunteers before her who had departed, and that was nicely done. Rebecca is a cheerful young woman and it was nice to have her. Any host who has animals as part of their project would benefit from her work and presence.

We stayed 6 days with Naveen and his family. It was a great experience. The whole family is awesome, we felt confortable and safe at their place. His wife cooked delicious indian dishes for us everyday, we played card games and video games with the twins, talked french, and discovered indian life. Naveen also gave us advices and took us to visit a beautiful sikh temple and walking around in the city. We are very grateful that we met them, and the french couple that was here at the same time. It will stay a warm memory of our travel in India. Thank you for every moment !

This was the most amazing workaway experience in a beautiful area with an extremely kind and welcoming family. It’s situated in the beautiful mountains with plenty more nature access within driving distance as well as only a 30 minute drive from the city of Granada. Maria and Toby were so helpful with anything we needed, the kids are so sweet and raised to be very independent for their ages, and the work was manageable and varied each day. They really made an effort to connect with the volunteers through our daily lunches together. I couldn’t recommend this experience enough!

I couldn't have asked for a better experience with Tobi and Maria. They truly let me become a part of their family and were very generous with accommodations. I mostly worked with Tobi on their straw bail house construction. The work is very fair and Tobi is good company. Even under some stressful situations he stayed very respectful and lighthearted. Maria is fun to talk to and an amazing cook. During my stay she went out of her way to connect me with people in town to help me make friends. Thank you guys for letting me stay and hope I can come back sometime!

Camille and Clémence are truly the Navy SEALs of volunteering. Drop them in the woods with a compass and a shopping list and they’ll be home with the goods in time to make dinner. They did what needed doing and handled everything without supervision. From caring for multiple dogs (and even finding new trails to take them on) to cleaning, cooking, and managing daily household tasks, they were consistently reliable and thoughtful. They also brought wonderful pioneer-woman skills — canning vegetables, making homemade candy, and even expanding my herb garden. It was such a gift to have that level of initiative and creativity. They made hosting easy and genuinely pleasant. I recommend them without hesitation and would welcome them back anytime.

Staying at Nicky and Mick's was a magical experience. The town and surrounding area is beautiful, and the people are very friendly. I loved working in the garden, it's a maze of succulents, roses and orange trees (perfect for making marmalade). On rainy days, we worked inside on some renovation tasks. I really loved the routine, the shared life with other Workawayers, and the accommodation was very comfortable topped off by one of the most incredible views. Thank you for having me :)

Très bel accueil et fonctionnement en mode très inclusif pour les volontaires, avec beaucoup d'activités partagées en lien avec la vie locale. I spent two truly interesting weeks in a particularly friendly atmosphere. Many thanks to everyone for your dedication, availability, and kindness.

We received Helena rather spontaneously and only for around 10 days. Thank you for sharing the ginger beer recipe, it was really great in taste :D For future hosts: Helena is a rather quiet person, very respectful and helpful. She takes great pictures and has a lot of attention to detail. Hoping you enjoy the Canaries. All the best!

This was my first workaway experience and I couldn't have asked for a better one. I spent around a month there last summer, and what a lovely place to live in! First of all, the work was not demanding at all, only around 2 hours everyday cleaning and preparing the rooms for the incoming guests, and then you have free time. I also had some days off and I was able to visit Galway and Cork. Deirdre and John took me to see different parts of the peninsula and I am forever grateful! I miss the long walks with Deirdre and the dogs. I got to know most the family and they were all very welcoming. They also cooked delicious meals and I learnt how to make Deirdre's famous brown bread! Overall, I would completely repeat this experience. Thanks for everything!

Thank you so much for your lovely hosting! This was my first workaway and I had an amazing time staying with Rima and Dennis. The communication was clear and they've had me working on various jobs like weeding, mowing the lawns, sanding old furniture and repaint those. I really enjoyed house- & pet-sitting for a few days, especially taking Missy on a walk. We always had great dinners together. Be prepared to cook a dish from your country on your last evening, I really love this idea :D I got the amazing opportunity to participate in a pōwhiri (welcoming ceremony) and Rima showed me the marae. She knows so much about past history and future plans and explained me a lot. She gave me an excellent insight into the Māori culture and their values. I would 100% recommend staying here if you're interested in getting to know the Māori culture and if you want to stay in a lovely and family-like atmosphere!
