This was my first workaway experience and I couldn't have asked for a better one. I spent around a month there last summer, and what a lovely place to live in! First of all, the work was not demanding at all, only around 2 hours everyday cleaning and preparing the rooms for the incoming guests, and then you have free time. I also had some days off… read more and I was able to visit Galway and Cork.
Deirdre and John took me to see different parts of the peninsula and I am forever grateful! I miss the long walks with Deirdre and the dogs. I got to know most the family and they were all very welcoming. They also cooked delicious meals and I learnt how to make Deirdre's famous brown bread! Overall, I would completely repeat this experience. Thanks for everything!

I had a great time at the bed and breakfast with Deirdre and John. The work is easy and leaves most of the day for exploring the nature around and visiting the local pubs (or Dingle which is close-by). The scenery around Annascaul is beautiful and Deirdre and John both gave me lots of tips on where to go and took me to visit places by car. I also… read more met a lot of the family and had a lot of fun talking with everyone over a pint.
It was my first time in Ireland so I used days off to visit Cork and Galway which I alsi really liked. The public transport is quite good, so even living in a small village you can visit a lot of things.
I will miss my long walks with Deidre and the dogs! I definitely want to go back to Ireland to explire more soon. I definitely recommend this Workaway for those that have the chance, especially if you love nature!
Thank you both for the lovely experience :)

I had a very nice stay at Anascaul with Deirdre and John. The work is very easy: to make the beds of each room and vacuum, it takes only 2 hours a day. There is usually no day-off during the high season because the B&B is very busy. But I had all my afternoons free. Sometimes John or Deirdre needed to go in some places around Anascaul and drop me… read more there. Anascaul is a quiet village in a beautiful area: there are many possibilities to walk and hike. John and Deirdre are very welcoming: I spent good time with them and their friends, having dinner or a beer at the pubs of the village. Both are very good cookers. Thank you for your hospitality and generosity! :)

Thank you so much for this great experience, Deirdre and John:) I really enjoyed my time in Anascaul: easy and nice work, beautiful house, a warm welcome and a lot to see and do. They made such an effort to show me around and take me to all those stunning places. You can go for beautiful walks to the lake, the beach or just anywhere in this… read more peaceful landscape. The food was excellent and the company great. I stayed for two and a half weeks and it was a great pleasure. Thank you so much:)

I have really fond memories of my time in Annascaul : Deirdre and John are very nice and welcoming people. They try to show you around after work, sometimes droping you to some places for the rest of the day. I got to do some lovely walks with Deirdre too!
Both of them are great cooks, always preparing really nice meals in the evenings.
The work… read more is not too hard at all : depending on the guests, there usually is between 2 and 3 hours of work in the morning (making beds and vacuum cleaning), exept when the BnB isn't fully booked. Sometimes you have to stay at home in the afternoon to welcome guests if nobody else is home, but this doesn't happen vey often.
Usually there aren't any days off in the Summer (because there are guests every day), but most of your afternoons and evening are completely free, and John and Deirdre make sure you have enough time to see around!
If you like to walk or hike, Annascaul is a really great place : there are loads of nice places you can go to, from Annascaul lake to Inch Beach or Minard castle (where there is a really beautiful beach too), or even some parts of the Dingle Way, a nice hiking trail on which Annascaul is situated.
Even if the village is quite small, it's animated in the summer with quite a few pubs, a nice cafe, and even music on some nights. There is even a chance you will meet other workaways from other families in the village!
Very close with the bus is the small touristic town of Dingle, which is adorable, with a lovely cliff walk, a nice marina, really cute craft shops, nice pubs... It was one of my favourite places there.
To sum up : probably one of the nicest places in Ireland!
Thanks for everything!
