We had a wonderful experience hosting Marcell as our guest. He helped us a lot with the garden and with various other projects we had during his stay. Marcell is very polite, respectful, and easy to communicate with, which made everything run smoothly. His time with us went really well, and we truly appreciated his positive attitude and willingness to help. We highly recommend Marcell as a volunteer and would gladly host him again.

I had a great time at the farm of Helen and Gabriël. I was there during a time with 6 workawayers, which was certainly a lot, even for the standards at the farm, but made my stay all the more fun!! Both the hosts were great people. Helen always greets you with her wonderful smile and has your best interests at heart. Whatever you may need, Helen will try to make you comfortable and is a great company with loads of stories and loads of cats ofcourse! She will never ever leave you hungry because you "need to grow" ofcourse! Gabriël is the farmer of the 2. He is quite knowledgeable on basically everything. No seriously, whatever the conversation was about, psychology, philosophy, agro-ecology, he was always there! Some might even say he is a wipwap-expert, although that probably means nothing to most of you reading this. You'll learn... The workload is great on the farm, amazing views, splendid people and loads to learn. Best Workaway ever!!

We spent nine days with Paul and Barbara. They live in a beautiful area, close to the water. They were both lovely hosts and we all got on very well. We all worked hard and got a lot done. It was fascinating to experience life in such an environment, which isn’t always easy and presents a variety of challenges. Even paradise isn’t without its hardships! Thank you for the warm welcome and for taking us back by boat. We hope that, with plenty of support, the tiny house project can be realised soon. Best wishes Andrea and Klaus

Ale is our all time favorite! We just love him! He’s been with us 5 times by now - to be continued! From the very beginning Ale just fitted in. He was working real hard, managing difficult and sometimes challenging tasks with ease! All our animals instantly fell in love with him! But above all he is so much fun and pleasure to have around! Ale is family by now :-)) Thank you Ale for being you 😘♥️

Travis My friend Henry and I stayed with Jeff and Darcie for about two and a half weeks and had an absolutely wonderful experience. Although their profile mentions hosting one person, they kindly agreed to host both of us, which we were incredibly grateful for. As two 18-year-olds from Australia travelling around Europe for a year with very little practical experience, we were a bit nervous at first, but Jeff and Darcie made us feel welcome right away. They provided us with comfortable, cozy rooms and everything we needed during our stay. Every evening we shared amazing dinners together, and the meals were always different and delicious. They introduced us to many new foods and experiences that I’ve come to love, especially French cheeses! They were always happy to share their cooking and food culture with us. We were also introduced to the pizza vending machine in town, which was honestly a very memorable and uniquely French experience. Vic-en-Bigorre is a charming town. It’s not very large, but it has everything you need and a great atmosphere. On weekends Jeff and Darcie kindly took us to explore nearby towns and even up into the mountains for snowboarding, which made the experience even more special and allowed us to see much more of the region. The work was fair and flexible, around five hours a day, five days a week. They were also very accommodating, allowing us to work a bit more on some days so we could have longer weekends to explore. Since we didn’t have much experience, we helped with a variety of tasks such as cleaning parts of the main house (sweeping, mopping, moving furniture), scraping paint from the roof, digging in the yard, moving dirt piles, pulling out vines, spreading mulch, and other small jobs around the property. After two weeks we could really see the progress we helped make on the house, which felt very rewarding. The pets were also absolutely wonderful, very friendly, slightly goofy as described, and great listeners after a long day of work! Jeff and Darcie are truly amazing people who went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. They shared great stories, welcomed us into their lives, and even surprised us with small thoughtful gifts along the way. This wasn’t just a simple “come and go” Workaway experience, it was a place to bond, make memories, experience local culture, and build genuine relationships. By the end of our stay, Jeff and Darcie are now family to us. Their home and the historic mansion they are restoring is a fascinating project with big plans for the future. I would love to come back one day when the restoration is finished and see how it has all come together. Thank you again for such an amazing experience! — Travis Henry My friend Travis and I stayed with Jeff and Darcie for about 2 and a half weeks. It was phenomenal. I could go into all the little bits and pieces of everything we did but in my opinion the work we did does not even matter. What matters most is how we were treated, and we were treated like we were family, not workers or employees or anything like that, but family. As we are two 18 year old boys a heck of a long was from home on a gap year, it was perfect and definitely made us feel a lot more comfortable in what we were doing. We were provided with absolutely everything we needed, beds, rooms and food. We could not have asked for Jeff and Darcie to do any better if we tried. On their profile, it stated that they request for only 1 workerawayer, yet they were willing to take both of us in, which just shows the character of the two of them. In terms of location, it is stunning. The town is beautiful and when you go outside and see the mountains in the distance it just feels so peaceful. We are so so grateful to Jeff and Darcie for hosting us, it was absolutely amazing and we loved it all. As a side note, the work itself is actually enjoyable because restoring a 17th century mansion didn’t ever get old, and the garden is beautiful. Finally, if I can add one more thing, it is that Jeff is an absolute wizard in the kitchen. Thanks again, Henry.

Natalya spent several months with us at the sanctuary, and she was an absolute gem. It is rare to find a volunteer who combines high-level technical competence with such genuine, deep-seated empathy for animals. She didn't just "do the work" she truly looked out for every animal here as if they were her own. As a vet her knowledge of animal care is extensive. She went above and beyond daily, particularly with environmental enrichment - making sure the animals were mentally engaged and happy, not just fed and cleaned. She also tackled the massive job of sorting and cataloguing our medication supplies, a detail-oriented task she handled perfectly. As a self-starter, she understands complex instructions immediately, you never have to tell her twice. Beyond the work, Natalya is a lovely person to have around. She is friendly, easy-going, and brought a wonderful energy to the sanctuary. A personal highlight for us was her special bond with the pigs - she absolutely adored them, and seeing that connection was a joy for everyone. We were incredibly lucky to have her. She is hardworking, highly competent, and genuinely cares. We would take her back in a heartbeat.

We absolutely loved hosting the K family, Keisuke, Kurumi, Kyosuke (Zac) and Konoka (Conny), and wish they could have stayed longer than the month they were with us. They were incredibly organised, thoughtful, conscientious, considerate and self motivated, and worked very well both independently and as a team. They all helped us with so many aspects of farm and home life including gardening, fencing, chickens, dogs, tractor work, mulching, painting, cleaning, tidying, baking and K was amazing with helping to construct our chicken caravan. Whatever was happening on the farm, they were involved and willing to help. The kids were fantastic, kind and helpful, and a joy to have around. They all played so well together, almost became like siblings. Zac and Conny helped so much in the garden, watering, growing seeds, protecting the tomatoes, weeding, helping me with dog training, and especially with Daisy's bandage changes and organising the study. Alannah enjoyed learning from Conny how to crochet, and she is now making a necklace for Pig. The kids also enjoyed spending time in the kitchen cooking, and also in the paddock with the horses together, it was beautiful to see their skills and confidence grow. We have so many treasured memories from their stay. We really enjoyed sharing a slice of farm life with your family, and spending time getting to know you all. We cannot thank you enough for everything you contributed and would highly recommend you to other hosts. We truly hope our paths cross again in the future and next time, as Alannah says, you will have to stay 88 days!

The workaway experience John and Micaëla provide at their gorgeous chateau goes absolutely above and beyond! What a wonderful two weeks I spent here, filled with fun, laughter, incredible food, even more incredible people, and work that was well suited to me and my skill set. If you're looking for more of a "family style" experience where you get lots of social & connection time with others, you are confident and you know how to take initiative- this is the right spot for you :) Thank you SO much John and Micaëla! I hope to see you both again, either in France or back in California <3

Vincent Miko is a shy boy at first, but then he gains more confidence and self-confidence and becomes very friendly. He is a good, respectful, relaxed, and calm boy, and I am sure that his future will be full of great satisfaction, because he is very committed to the things he does. This was his first workaway and I hope he enjoyed his stay at my house. His work was perfect and helped me a lot in continuing my project with the New Campaign. He shared his time with the other three American boys, and I am sure they also had a lot of fun in their free time. He was also very nice with my three parrots. He is a calm boy who always carries out the tasks assigned to him perfectly. I highly recommend him and hope to see him again in the future, even as a friend. I hope that coming home has given him more baggage for his life and a good memory of the time we spent together in Trieste. A hug and thank you for everything, for your help and your kindness. grazie ciao Massimo
