We loved staying with Lu. The communication was excellent, her home is beautiful, and we loved all the dogs. If you are not comfortable and confident around dogs, this is not the place for you! If you love dogs, enjoy a challenge, and like getting exercise, this exchange is just what you need!

Taisia and Chain’s restaurant is a colourful jungle! Once you’ve settled in, it’s the most incredible place I’ve ever seen! There are plenty of wonderful activities to get stuck into: from building projects to gardening, from creating artistic masterpieces to culinary alchemy. The work at the restaurant is relaxed, but the atmosphere is sparkling, and the chef is the best! The beach is just a 5 min bike ride away! (I recommend hiring a motorbike to get around the island too) and there are tons of places to visit nearby and a thriving nightlife, you can be sure you won’t get bored here! A big hug and see you soon to the whole gang! (:

Where to begin.. Kelly is a very giving person, incredible welcoming, flexible, sharing and just a lovely and funny person. Her property is stunning, perfect view of the ocean, beautiful big garden and amazing yoga space. The cabin she let us stay in was too good to be true, pinching ourselves to see we're not dreaming. We did some chores, worked in the garden and emptied the ocean of rocks to make beautiful flowerbeds. She offered her space to let Sanne do some breathwork, which was amazing. Very thankful for our stay (and yoga lessons) with her (and miss the dogs and cat already!). ♡

Thank you for your feedback and for sharing your experience Leoni Leoni is a person with a strong desire to travel and explore, and we appreciate that she chose our space for part of her journey. Unfortunately, this was an experience where both sides did not feel fully comfortable or aligned. Before confirming any Workaway stay, we always arrange a video call where we explain in detail the conditions of our space — especially the cold weather, the remote location (we are about one hour from the nearest town), and the importance of planning food and snacks in advance due to limited access. We believe we were clear about what we provide and what we do not. From our side, we made the decision to not continue the volunteering experience with Leoni. We noticed a lack of initiative in some of the tasks requested, and it seemed that the expectations and understanding of the experience were different. For example, on one occasion we asked her to move some bed sheets, and instead of placing them properly, they were left on the floor in another area. These small details are important in a space like ours. At our project , we promote teamwork between staff and volunteers, which usually flows very well. We genuinely love welcoming people from different parts of the world, but this is always a mutual exchange that requires openness, responsibility, and communication from both sides. In this case, there was also a disconnect between Leoni and our chef, as each had a very different perspective on work and communication. We truly wish Leoni the best in her future travels and experiences, and we thank her again for the time shared. Warm regards, Jazz

Charles stayed with us for over a week and we were happy to extend his stay when his plans changed. His communication ahead of the workaway was very clear and he fulfilled all the tasks we had agreed upon. He is an honest and independent worker doing all sorts around the garden and property. Charles is funny! We enjoyed many laughs an he was friendly and playful with our young child.

My time with Armagard on her farm was a truly enriching experience. She is an excellent leader, a brilliant cook, decisive yet sensitive and friendly. The vast farm is vibrant and constantly changing throughout the year, and there is always something to do; the animals and the family are the true rulers of this land! The work on the farm is hard but satisfying and rewarding, and there’s plenty of free time to enjoy the beauty of the place and explore the wonderful surroundings! I really can’t wait to go back and visit them soon! (:

Anita stayed with our family for about a week and was independent with her tasks. She cares about her work and did not call a task complete until she was happy with the result. She has so much travel experience to discuss and share! She was also easily adaptable when the accommodation arrangements changed due to unexpected family visitors. Thank you for this Anita, lovely to have you.

Raúl and Mario's house is much more than just a hostel. It's a meeting place where everyone is incredibly friendly and welcoming. I had a wonderful stay with them. They gave me the opportunity to discover their culture, learn more Spanish, and spend some great moments playing various games. Life at "La Casa de Ito" is exceptionally peaceful. I was able to truly relax and take plenty of time for myself during my trip. Raúl and Mario are so kind, very attentive to everyone's well-being, and always in good spirits. Thank you for this wonderful experience. Thank you for making me feel so welcome in your extended family. Thank you for all the shared moments and the many laughs 😄 See you again soon, Panamanian brothers ☀️🇵🇦

Somlid and Nina will make you feel right at home the moment you arrive at their beautiful country farm; they are very kind and welcoming, and their three children are wonderful, curious, intelligent and friendly. Somlid is amazing and Nina is a beautiful, sensitive soul. I only spent a week with them, but I felt like part of the family by the time I left. I’ll never forget that rainy day and the warmth I received that week. Thank you all!

Taichi is a wonderful and gentle person, and a lovely member of our Workaway family. He did a great job helping with weeding and organizing, and made us a delicious Japanese lunch that we all loved. Taichi is always happy to learn new things, and is curious about history, culture and local food. We had interesting discussions and a lot of fun together, especially playing cards in the evening. We were very touched by the gifts he brought us from Japan, so sweet! It was great to learn so much about Japanese culture and we are more curious than ever to visit Japan. Thank you so much for all your help Taichi, we will miss you!

This was my first experience as a Workawayer, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for anything better. From the moment I arrived, I felt immersed in a rich, open, and deeply human environment. Judith and Mauricio made my stay truly special, always attentive and caring in a way that made everything feel natural and effortless. In a surprisingly short time, I began to feel part of their beautiful community. There is something very genuine about this place. People are open, present, and willing to connect. I experienced so many meaningful moments and encounters that I will carry with me. As they say, their home is “a place to be” - and it truly is. A place where you can be yourself, feel welcomed in your uniqueness, and share what you bring, whether it’s a skill, an energy, or simply your presence. If you are open-minded, curious, and looking for authentic connections, this is a place that will meet you in a very real way. Thank you again for everything 🤍

I stayed with Walter, Tia and Kaia for about five weeks, and it was truly one of the most meaningful and enjoyable experiences I’ve ever had while traveling. It was a memorable experience that I will never forget. From the very beginning, I felt incredibly welcome and comfortable – more like a part of the family than just a Workawayer. Walter is a very kind, open-minded, and thoughtful person who genuinely cares about the people staying with him. The atmosphere was always warm and relaxed, and I really appreciated the support, trust, and openness. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to spend as much time with Tia and Kaia, but both of them are very kind. I especially enjoyed going on a hike with Tia – she even introduced me to her friends and family, which gave me the chance to meet new people and feel even more included. The work was fair, varied, and always well explained. I enjoyed being able to contribute while still having enough time to explore and enjoy the surroundings. It never felt overwhelming, and I always felt supported. Whenever I had questions or needed help, I could always ask and received helpful explanations and advice. What made this experience truly special were the small moments – like Kaia and Walter teaching me how to surf (Kaia is an amazing surfer!), sharing dinners during my first days, playing ping pong afterwards, or having interesting conversations with Walter over a beer. These are the moments I will remember the most and miss. I learned a lot during my stay – not only practical skills like agriculture, taking care of animals, and building or fixing things with wood, but also how to connect with new people, make friends, and simply enjoy spending time together. I’m truly grateful for this experience, and it’s something I will always look back on with a smile. I would absolutely recommend staying with Walter to anyone looking for a genuine and positive Workaway. I would come back anytime!

Kerstin, Woody, Dave, Cam, and many others made my stay here truly awesome. I stayed for all of November including Thanksgiving, and really felt welcomed into the community. The works is very reasonable and they are eager to share Buddhism with thier volunteers. This was my first workaway and I can't wait to come back one day. :))

I had a fantastic week at Janice and Darryl's place! They are both so kind and so interesting to talk to. They made it a fun week for me by inviting me to meet their friends and locals in town, as well as giving me a variety of interesting work such as morning chores for the animals, helping around the house, and cooking dinner occasionally. I especially enjoyed the conversations the three of us had over a variety of topics, and I am grateful that I spent my workaway here. Thank you very much Janice and Darryl and see you both again soon!

This is such a lovely and welcoming family. The host and her kind husband made me feel at home from the very beginning. They have two wonderful children, a smart and energetic 2-year-old boy, whose second birthday I had the pleasure of celebrating with their extended family, and a sweet 6-month-old daughter. My main role was to spend time with the children, keeping them engaged both at home and during outings to the park or supermarket. I also helped with a few small tasks in the kitchen when needed. The responsibilities were light, and the atmosphere was relaxed and supportive. Overall, I had a great experience with the family. The location is also very nice and convenient. I truly appreciate their hospitality and kindness, and I wish them all the very best for the future.

Andrea and Klaus were respectful visitors and a pleasure to host in our home. With their constant and untiring help we achieved great progress on our projects, Andrea has prepared the gardens for winter produce while Klaus did great work preparing for the renovation of our shed. They have stored the firewood for this winter. They are self motivated and we would highly recommend them to any host. Best wishes from Paul and Barb.

Ok, I’m finally leaving feedback about Zaki and his family. Last December, I stayed for three weeks. After a long journey, it was my last Workaway — and I can say that I ended it in the best way. The welcoming, easy-going attitude and kindness of Zaki and his family are legendary, so I can only confirm it. It was really an opportunity to take a break in my journey and to reflect on my volunteering and my travels. We had very good discussions with Zaki and interesting chats about philosophy, deep cultural, roots Malaysian traditions, ways of life and nature, as well as religion and mystic stuff, which I’m really interested in in my everyday life. I also really connected with Yati: she’s very nice and kind, and we shared many good discussions. And of course the kids — Alicia and Ian. We played cards with Alicia and communicated in different ways with Ian. Both are cool and fun 😀. We visited the palm oil farm by motorbike, attended two weddings, helped with some easy tasks and had some fabulous meals! As I said several times, it was literally a culinary journey. I met amazing volunteers and made very good connections. Without forgetting the cats, with whom I like to say I was doing telepathy with. They said goodbye to me the day I left by taking turns climbing onto the bench with me. So yeah, it was a mix of sharing, enjoying life, resting, reflecting on my inner side, mystic and great experiences. I was really delighted, and for the last Workaway of this journey, it was even far more than I could have expected. In one word, I’m truly grateful. Thank you Zaki and Yati. I hope to see you again one day. Best wishes for you and everything ahead: a lot of Faith, Love and Light! 👍🙌🙏🙂

Merci encore ☀️

Staying up in the mountains with Sebas was a real highlight of my trip! The views are amazing but make sure to bring a jacket in case it gets chilly. We built a chicken coup and enclosure so his chickens can have access to a better area for roaming. We also picked lots of blueberries to make into juice. On one of our off days, we went to Riobamba and Chimborazo volcano. I also got to meet his aunt and uncle and learn a bit about their farm too. Sebas will absolutely try to convince you to visit Galapagos and do some diving there. Make sure to ask him for his travel tips on Galapagos and around Ecuador too
