We stayed with Sovan and his family in Lolei for two weeks to help and teach English to the childeren in the village. It was a fun experience and really eye-opening. We loved teaching to the childeren! They are very enthousiastic and eager to learn. The school does need a better system since there is a big mix of english level in all the classes, but you do have to keep in mind that he does this all alone with the help of volunteers so that it is fairly normal that there are some flaws. He is a very busy and helpful man in the village. He opens his house to you where you can stay and his wife cooks amazing meals for you! It was a first time teaching experience for us but we loved it! We made it fun and playful so the kids have an easier and fun time learning a new language! We're missing them already! We're wishing Sovan and his projects best of luck in the future and hope he continues to help these childeren as he is doing amazing! 🤩🥰 Say hi to Kiki and Grape for us! ❤️🐶🐱

Nico is such a welcoming and nice guy. He really cares about his guests and his beautiful green place in El Paredon. We felt at home and had a nice and fair share of work with the guests. We would come again :) <3

Dear Ged and Kathy, I had a truly special time on your beautiful horse farm. It was my first Workaway experience, and I felt immediately welcomed when Ged picked me up. During the first week, I shared a lovely room in their house with a lovely girl, and we got along really well from the very first moment. The working hours were from 6:00 am to 9:30 am. In the mornings, we fed the horses and picked up the poo. Picking up the poo with the golf car was actually a lot of fun and made the work quite easy 😂.At first it seems like a lot, but you quickly learn the horses names and their correct food, including the oils. In the afternoon, from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm, we prepared the food for the next day and fed the horses. If we finished early, we also did some gardening, worked around the stable or helped with house cleaning. The tasks were never too heavy or too much. I also got to know their three little dogs, Georgie, Rosi, and Dusty. We played a lot of ball and cuddled a lot 🫶🏻. I took Dusty for walks around the farm, I really loved just being out in nature with him. During the following two weeks, I met four other lovely Workawayers, the working time / free time with them were really fun. During sunset, I often took little walks to the horses and visited Metallica. On my days off, I visited the small village Samford, where you can enjoy delicious cake. Brisbane was also really cool! On my last day, Ged took the four of us to the swimming holes on a very hot day, which was definitely one of my highlights! We also baked, cooked and laughed a lot together.Every Friday or Saturday, you can choose meals from a list with a pretty good selection of food options. Ged and Kathy work incredibly hard and are such kind-hearted people! They were always grateful for the work I did, which I really appreciated. Thank you so much for this amazing experience! I will always look back on this time and carry it in my heart.❤️ Wishing you all the best! Katharina :)

Thank you so much, Emma and Samuel, for welcoming us into your home for a whole week. This place is truly special, right by the sea, with a garden that feels like a little paradise, full of fruits, vegetables and beautiful flowers. It was a break that did us a lot of good during our journey. Emma and Samuel are amazing people, always great to talk to, curious, interesting, and never short of good conversations. Samuel is interested in so many things, very dynamic, and puts 100% into everything he does. He has a lot of skills, whether in music, permaculture, or DIY projects. Emma travelled a lot and is passionate about literature and flowers, she read 4 books at the same time and has good recommandations ! And of course, big hugs to Jack, their adorable little dog. We loved taking care of the garden: building a fence, weeding, digging the irrigation system… It was never boring and always enriching. The work you have done to grow all these fruits and vegetables is truly incredible, and especially enriching for us as we are trying to learn and better understand how to grow our own food. We also ate incredibly well. Both of them are great cooks, with lots of delicious salads from the garden, homemade bread, many other amazing dishes, and of course the evening hot chocolate. We even spent a day sailing together. Unforgettable experience! Thank you again, Emma and Samuel, for your kindness and hospitality. We hope to see you again 😊

I spent a week with José and his lovely family. Since I was there over the holidays his official projects were on hold so I helped out with various ad hoc things. It was great to get to know Timbio and Cauca which is a region with some cultural complexities. Jose and his family made me feel very welcome and really treated me like one of the family from say one.

We stayed with Christine and Derek for two weeks over the Christmas holidays. It was a wonderful stay. They are lovely and very endearing people, always making sure we had everything we needed. They are the best hosts you could hope for. We had great conversations and lots of laughs. The cottage is fantastic and clean. The food is excellent and plentiful. They even offer work clothes if needed. The work was educational: planting trees, cleaning rivers, weeding, gardening, taking car of horses... (Moki and Teka) We were lucky enough to explore the surrounding area on beautiful walks, often with Sarge and Clio, their adorable and very affectionate dogs. We 100% recommend staying with Christine and Derek if you have the chance! Merci de votre hospitalité, c'était génial. 😇

"It was my first workaway in my life and I could not choose better! This place driven by amazing Martin it is pure paradise for deep cultural exchange and for spending amazing time wuth a lot of activities together with local people. Martin is such a lovely person and always makes sure we have fun while working together. His positive energy and huge dedication to volonteers makes this place very special. He also involved us in his friends' group while going out together. We danced and loughed together a lot! Regarding the work: you have different options there. You can work more in the garden, or with children from fundation or help in the kitchen. You can learn how to bake bread, how to cut aloe vera or cactuses, or how to seed and grow plants. It is also deep fantastic experience of living together in a group with other volunteers. I planned to stay 2 weeks but at the end I stayed 3 weeks and was hard to leave.... I am sure I will come back there!"

Vikas stayed for almost 4 weeks with us. He taught science to our kids at the high school, also enjoyed playing games with the kids everyday. We also were able to do some work in designing our new computer lab. Vikas was very humble and co-operative throughout his stay. Children connected very well with him, now they are missing him at school. I wish him a great journey for all his plans ahead.

Graham and Noelle welcomed us with open arms provided us with a lovely meal of Quiche and homegrown beans to help us settle in after our travel up from Auckland. We were soon unpacked in our self-contained flat which is well laid out and perfect for a couple or two singles. The following morning we started on our work guided by Graham utilising good quality tools which Graham ensured you knew how to operate safely. The type of garden work we completed was well within most people's abilities and was a fair exchange for the accomodation. As Graham and Noelle clearly state in their profile you are only required to work from 9-12 which fits in with their daily schedules and allows visitors to spend more time out and about in Northland. We booked this host well in advance (almost a year ago) and with experience and hindsight we now realise that Northland in January is probably not the best time for us to have been visiting, it was just too busy and unfortunately we just couldn't settle, thus, we decided to move on earlier than planned. Graham and Noelle were very understanding and they definitely seemed to appreciate the work completed. Thanks both for the opportunity to visit your personal piece of paradise.

Sergei is a very nice person — polite, hardworking, and friendly. He has a sharp, slightly acidic sense of humor that we really enjoyed, and he was great to have around. He was always willing to help and approached his tasks with responsibility and a good attitude. Although Elisabetta was initially meant to come with him, Sergei ended up joining us on his own and integrated very well into the group. Originally from Belarus but Italian, Sergei brought a nice mix of cultures and a good presence to the farm. We enjoyed hosting him and would recommend him to other WorkAway hosts.

I got contact by Stacy to be the Spanish teacher of her kids! I was at her house for a month and a half. I had an amazing connection with Stacy since the very first call! She is such a nice woman! I enjoyed all our conversations! Her kids are so lovely!! I'm sad I didn't stay any longer... There was there another volunteer that initially was going to leave in a month, but decided to stay longer. (No blame on her, as Revelstoke is such a beautiful place and the family are such a wonderful people to spend the time with) But our relationship didn't work out so I was asked to leave. I believe everything happens for a reason and I'm so grateful to have known this beautiful family! I wish you all the best, and let me know if you come to Europe haha Loads of love for all of you! GRACIAS mi amooooor!! ^^ Lydia

Staying with Greg, Danna, Robin, Sam, Luna, and Tobi was an amazing experience. I spent six weeks in their eco-friendly environment and learned so much about their lifestyle, agroforestry, and regenerative systems. They are incredibly welcoming and I truly felt like part of their family and met their extended family and friends. Spending my festive holidays with them was special and something I will always be grateful for. The knowledge and insights they shared will stay with me for a very long time, they even gave me seeds to take home. Highly recommended.

I was 2 weeks at Steph's. Since the very first moment I absolutely love her and her kids and her mum! Lillooet is such a great place! too hot during summer time, but absolutely gorgeous! The Seton lake it's absolutely stunning!! Our deal was that I was going to help with the food truck, that I was really excited about it, but due my personal skills with kids, she decided she wanted me as a babysitter instead. At the beginning I didn't mind, as her kids are absolutely adorable, but I couldn't helped to the idea that that wasn't the initial deal, so we had an honest and deep conversation about it, but the result of this conversation was that she no longer needed me there... She gave me a week notice and offered to drive me to the nearest place with public transport service (as Lillooet has not public transport service). Even if the things didn't work out the way I expected, I was so grateful to get to know this beautiful family! They are such a lovely people! And I wish you all the best! Love, Lydia!

We agreed with Sébastien that he would join us between 16 December and 4 January. On the 15th I wrote him a message asking about his arrival time but only received a non-committal answer the day after. After a lot of messages he finally arrived on the 21st in the evening. I had to send the address 3 times and the list of tasks twice. Although we agreed that he would stay for 3 weeks, Sébastien left only after 4 days without saying a word and he did not respond to our messages. In the short time, we got to know him as a nice and polite guy. We had pleasant conversations and good laughs with him. Our 6 year old daughter also had a good time playing and learning with him. Sébastien seemed to be eager to take on tasks, but when it came to actually doing the job, he did not seem so enthusiastic anymore and did the work half-heartedly. Following instructions seemed also challenging, even for simple tasks, such as bringing in fire wood from the garden to the house. Overall we had a strange and quite disappointing experience.
