Wonderful experience at Justine’s and Frederic’s home. They are super hosts. Their house is so beautiful and the whole family is very welcoming. From the very first moments I was included in many local adventures as well as community activities. Justine is so attentive and dedicated to travellers, she has a huge heart.

The perfect first Workaway experience! Since I’m in a phase of my life with many big changes, staying with this beautiful family was a perfect match and a huge support for me. Their routine (while still being flexible) really helped me find balance. Waking up early in the beautiful snowy landscape, going for walks around the area, helping with daily tasks, cleaning, preparing homemade candies for the dogs, learning a lot about them, making toys for them, or simply putting on a podcast and helping with whatever was needed. All of this made the experience very special. They were always incredibly thoughtful and kind. They even took me ice skating and out to eat waffles, which were such lovely moments. I truly felt like part of the family 100%. During my time there I feel like I grew and learned a lot. Every single member of this family now has a place in my heart, and I know that I will always have a home there.

Katrin go on with her job which is social media marketing while Andre helped us with his carpentry skills. He made 7 windows - secondary glazing - which was not a straightforward job. The windows in question all look the same, but aren't, they are all half a centimetre or more off in our historic building, not to mention, they are not perfect rectangles and he successfully adapted to that. He also sorted out our cellar - a dumping ground of tools, and surplus building materials and who knows what (I didn't!). So now it's in order and a useful usable space once more. He got on with the job without me telling him much what he had to do. That's a really valuable thing in a Workawayer, it'snot always easy to manage a complete stranger with unknown skills! They stayed in their camper van which they converted from a fire truck. They stayed for two weeks. Really nice, easy going people, and lots to talk about too, I would strongly recommend them to any Workaway host.

Brigi enriched our family and finca life for five weeks. She is an open-hearted, warm person who is very helpful and attentive. In addition to helping with household tasks, in the kitchen, and with preparing meals, she was also responsible for cleaning the rooms before our weekly events. She was also a valuable help in the fields, where the weed patrol and harvest assistance were part of the daily routine. She even helped us prepare wood for our construction work. Brigi is multi-talented—we had wonderful kitchen talks about God and the world. For our children, it was a treasure that Brigi, with her athletic abilities, could do acrobatics with them. She was able to enter the children’s world so naturally—it was truly a gift. They also went for walks in nature and discovered beauty in every detail. Her many language skills were also a great asset—she speaks English and Spanish with ease and even some German! We were filled with gratitude that Brigi also actively took part in our life of faith and joined our singing circle and Bible study group during her stay—singing, praying, and sharing about spiritual topics. It was a joy to see the changes that were sparked in Brigi’s life here, and we are thankful that we are still in contact with her and her family today. THANK YOU, Brigi! May you be protected and blessed on your path. 🙏

Julia & Sebastian have become our dear friends after spending four weeks with our family. As the weeks went on, it became harder and harder to imagine life without them! Our little girl Kora absolutely loved Julia and all the beautiful moments they spent together, playing barbies especially! It's been a week since they've left on their next adventure and we miss them dearly! Sebastian was an incredible asset to Jesse, always keen to help and showed initiative which is something we value very highly. They were clean, tidy and very polite, respectful and kind. They poured a lot of love and good energy into our children and also the various projects we worked on. So grateful for all their effort and appreciate everything they did while they were here! We'd welcome them back with open arms at anytime! We are excited to see them again in the future!

Robin and Sally were incredible hosts for our first Workaway experience! We enjoyed the work; chopping wood, pruning trees, a bit of diy and everything in between. We loved sharing meals and conversation, and hearing their stories of travel and family too. Our work was explained well, and Robin was hands on in her guidance. The cabin had everything needed, along with a gorgeous view. The wildlife and chickens were always interesting, and we learned new things at every turn; this is a nature lovers paradise!

Jacob stayed with us through Workaway and was truly a wonderful guest to host. He was respectful, responsible, and always willing to help with tasks. His positive attitude and friendly nature made him very easy to get along with, and he quickly became part of the household. We really appreciated his contribution and the cultural exchange he brought with him. I would happily recommend Jacob to any future hosts for authentic and meanigfull workaway experience . Stay blessed Jacob :)

I spent 3 weeks with Madi in his beautiful art community. It was my first workaway and I'm very grateful that i got to be a small part of Ulu Dong for a while. Madi and his crew are very charismatic and don't take life too seriously. They go with the flow and nothing is set in stone, everything is discussable. Due to some last minute cancellations i was the only volunteer for a while, which was sometimes a bit lonely, but of course not Madi's responsibility at all. I got to learn a lot of new skills and would recommend this place to anyone :)

We loved hosting and getting to know McKenna. Before she arrived, her messages were very bubbly and upbeat. I initially wondered if that was just the American style of communication, but it was such a pleasant surprise to discover that she is genuinely like that in person too. She originally came to stay for 2–3 weeks but ended up staying for five, and the time absolutely flew by for all of us. We were so grateful for her help during that time. She achieved a huge amount around our property while also fitting in some fun adventures along the way. McKenna has a lovely rhythm to her days. She’s always up for an adventure, thinks outside the box, and has great forward momentum when it comes to getting things done. She seems to thrive on starting early and making the most of the day. She encountered a few challenges while she was here but never gave up, which really showed her excellent work ethic. While staying with us, McKenna took responsibility for feeding our hens and caring for our young chicks. She approached this task with genuine care and did an exceptional job. Raising incubator-hatched chicks to around five weeks—when they’re ready to sleep outside—takes a lot of attention, and she handled the bulk of that work for a group of 13 chicks. She seemed to really enjoy the process too. I don’t think the food prep area has ever been left so clean! After the chickens, McKenna methodically worked through a long list of odd jobs, everything from line trimming to deep cleaning our kitchen cupboards. At one point we even had her making ice cream! She was always looking for ways to help, and it was such a treat to come home to dishes done, the dishwasher filled or emptied, the fridge cleaned, and the stove wiped down—all without being asked. McKenna was also completely willing to take on physically demanding jobs like line trimming and clearing out our woodshed and chicken brooder. She is very open to new ideas and experiences and truly embraces the life of a traveller. We really enjoyed the time we spent together and the conversations we shared.

I spent two wonderful weeks with Anya and Shey. I needed a place to stay very spontaneously, and they made it work. From the moment I arrived, their kindness made me feel instantly welcome. Also their Home is incredible!! You can’t help feeling comfortable there. Anya and Shey are incredibly loving, generous, and talented musicians. Evenings filled with music were a highlight of my stay! Their son is pure sunshine, and he loves meeting new people.
His friendly curiosity makes it easy for me to connect with him. My responsibilities were varied and very enjoyable: cooking for the family, keeping the house tidy, and tending the garden: pulling weeds, harvesting, planting new seedlings and watering each morning. I absolutely enjoyed the garden, especially the surrounding banana, sugar‑cane, and bamboo plants! One day we made a fire, and they showed me how to prepare and eat bunjanuts, which also grow in the garden. All the tasks felt light and rewarding, especially because I could set my own schedule and work at my own pace. Anya and I also did a few DIY projects together, which I really enjoyed. The tiny caravan tucked away in the garden was cozy and private, allowing me to have alone time whenever I needed it. The area around the “Art Barn” in the middle of the rainforest was absolutely stunning. The nearby town of Nimbin was wonderful, with plenty of swimming spots and waterfalls that I visited on my days off. Overall, staying with Anya and Shey was exactly what I needed, it felt like being part of a caring, loving family. Their genuine kindness created an inspiring and comforting environment, where I felt valued and at home. I would have loved to stay longer, but my travel plans didn’t allow it. I wholeheartedly recommend them to fellow travelers. Lots of love, I miss you!

It was an absolute pleasure having Rieke stay with us for eleven days. She arrived with an open mind and a "can-do" attitude that made her a joy to host, even spontaneously extending her stay to experience more of our local community. Why we recommend her: • Versatility: She tackled a diverse range of tasks with ease. Whether she was meticulously photographing clothes for online sales, polishing silver, or working in the garden, her attention to detail was excellent. • Proactive & Helpful: She was always willing to jump in wherever needed. She has a great eye for photography and a genuine interest in learning about our life. • Great Energy: She truly immersed herself in the New Zealand lifestyle—from the Lawrence rodeo to trips out to the coast. Rieke is a talented and capable young lady. She is welcome back anytime, and we highly recommend her to any future hosts looking for a proactive and lovely Workawayer to have around.

If you are looking for a YES-person, look no further than Fiona. She is verifiably spontaneous and one that can adapt to shifting circumstances. Fiona was very dedicated and eager every day, keeping all promises and sticking to plans. Her responsibilities consisted of a variety of tasks where her performance was consistently flawless and steadfast, with attention to details. Fiona brought positive energy, genuine curiosity and is truly a pleasant and polite to be around.

I stayed with Andrew and his dog Sage for 2 weeks, and he was the kindest host I could have wished for. My time with him was truly special. He made me feel at home right away, took me to his favorite spots, and introduced me to Australian specialties like kangaroo and barramundi (so yummy!). Speaking of food and drinks, his coffee was absolutely outstanding. I thought I didn’t like coffee until I stayed with him – turns out, I just never had good coffee before. Waking up to the sound of the coffee grinder in the morning is something I’ll definitely miss. Andrew gave me plenty of free time to explore Sydney and the Blue Mountains, which I appreciated a lot. He always picked me up from the train station, too. I really enjoyed our conversations and good laughs. Running two businesses of his own, Andrew even shared some great career advice ;). I’ll never forget our time together and hope to see him again one day. We’re still in touch.

Had an incredible 3 weeks here. Initially had planned on staying 2 weeks but extending was the easiest decision I have made. Scott and Astrid are incredible hosts, making me feel welcome and at home from the moment I got there. Both were more than happy to take me and the other workaway to see different parts of the surrounding area and Scott was incredible at explaining everything with regards to the forestry and aboriginal culture. The work was both educational and fulfilling and it was a pleasure to be in such a great space. I would recommend this workaway 100% to anyone who wants to gain hands-on skills and understand more about permaculture. I can't wait to visit again.

I stayed with Claude for 5 weeks, and it was a truly wonderful experience. About the tasks: I helped with various chores around the house, such as waxing furniture, cleaning, and helping with some simple tech things for his PC and TV setup. The tasks were clear and manageable. Beyond the tasks: He took me to amazing places like Old Quebec and a safari park, which were highlights of my stay. I also had plenty of time to explore local museums, art galleries, and the downtown area, and he was kind enough to drive me around. I also enjoyed making cakes and tacos for us to eat together! About the host: Claude is a very calm and gentle person. Although we had different daily routines, he was always respectful of my lifestyle and made me feel comfortable. When I had a bit of trouble at my 2nd Workaway place and asked if I could arrive earlier than planned, he welcomed me without hesitation. His flexibility and kindness saved my trip. I highly recommend staying with Claude to anyone looking for a peaceful and enriching Workaway experience!

Amazing stay (1month) ! As my first workaway experience, I started with the best one ! Chain and Taisia's home is a peace of quite where volunteers are very well hosted ! 🛠 About the work i worked on several projets : stiching, construction of bungalow, plumbing, electricity, art and decoration, gardening and a bit of client service during the rush hours of the restaurant. A lot of material and tools available and I liked the reusable and dont-throw! philosophy. I could work 2 hours in a day but I like to do more and was free to manage my working hours. 🛖 About the accommodation I started in a tent (very confortable for me) and could use shower (cold water was perfect for the island) and toilets. I moved then in a shared bungalow. Very confortable if you are not scared of little bugs. Taisia provided me sheets bed. 🍛About the food The best I have ever eaten on the island ! For volunteers, we were treated like prince ! little kitchen for the volunteers available, we could share little snacks and fruits. Options possible for Vegetarian but usually we eat meat (more convenient for the cooker). 🏝 About the place 15min walking from the beach (with the best sunset view), minimarket around. Sometimes music from the bar but other wise it is quite. Need time to get use to the rules of the house (specially for service) and it is not always easy to understand the instructions. That's why the best is to stay min 2 weeks, better 1month. After some times, every thing becomes faster and communication was better. The volunteers interact a lot between each other to not disturb Chain and Taisia. In a Word, this Volunteer is good for People who likes to finish project, can be autonomous, quite and sociable. I will come back here for sure 🌞

Heidi was a great host and she made sure we had everything we needed from the very first moment and always made us feel comfortable. We worked on a very creative and motivating project: designing and painting an old circus wagon with a circus theme. It was a fun and inspiring experience that gave us the chance to express our creativity. We also really appreciated Heidi’s cooking, and we enjoyed preparing some typical Italian dishes for her, like pizza and tiramisu, sharing nice moments together. Heidi was very kind and took us to visit the surrounding areas. During our stay there was snow, so it was not always easy to move around on foot from the house, but the area still offers many beautiful walks in nature. Thanks again for the hospitality, and a warm greeting to Heidi and her two lovely little dogs! ✨
