Daniele came for a short stay in early February; without question the right man at the right time, playing a key part in some important finishes I needed done. It was his first Workaway experience, and it was a pleasure being his initial host. All was truly first class, nothing to put my finger on. Helpful, friendly, sociable, and definitely most competent. Hopefully he will go on to add value to other hosts' lives, continuing to travel as a workawayer, gaining countless memories and accumulations of proficiencies in the process. Another great individual I hope to remain in touch with, and see again at some point in the future. I wish you all possible prosperity in your efforts ahead :-)

Melanie and Atis stayed with us for almost a month, and it has been one of the most beautiful and meaningful experiences we have had on this journey. Melanie is truly a force of nature. She brings an extraordinary range of skills: from cooking and food preservation to gardening, tree care, and working with animal products. She naturally took initiative in the garden, often seeing what needed to be done before we even did. She works with strength, constancy and deep competence. We trusted her completely. Beyond what she already knows, what impressed us just as much was her curiosity. She was genuinely interested in our construction and renovation projects, wanting to understand, learn, and be involved. She carries both knowledge and hunger for more knowledge. In France, she runs her own bakery, and her understanding of grains, flours and cereals is remarkable. The greatest gift she brought us was not only the delicious food she prepared daily, but the depth of her knowledge and the generosity with which she shared it. She even brought special products from her finca in France to share with us. We exchanged seeds and promises to meet again. She embraced our more vegetarian lifestyle with openness and grace. She baked cakes and cookies with the children almost every day. The children adored her. She became part of our family in a very natural way. She is multilingual, tireless, steady in her work, and deeply reliable. And beyond all of this, she is simply a golden human being. Atis was also a beautiful presence. She helped with small daily tasks, kept the kitchen in order, supported with the younger children when needed, and integrated smoothly into the rhythm of our life. Together they brought competence, music, stories, generosity and warmth. We feel deeply grateful for the time shared and would welcome them back at any moment Some people pass through. Others stay in your story. Melanie and Atis will stay in ours.💚🍃

This was my first Workaway experience and I honestly couldn’t have wished for a better one. From the first day, the hostel felt much more like a family than a business. Everyone was incredibly kind and welcoming, and they really made me feel at home. Even though I didn’t speak Spanish, I never felt left out. They always made an effort to include me, whether that was by speaking English or by being very patient when I tried to form sentences in Spanish 😅. Jona, the manager, is an amazing singer and his performances in the hostel and in the pub always made the days even better. Jona and José also love a good asado (Chilean barbecue), which happened quite often, and everyone could enjoy the most delicious meat together. The work itself was very easy and relaxed, usually less than three hours a day, which left plenty of time to explore and enjoy the area. I am extremely grateful for this experience and would 100% recommend this place to anyone looking for a warm, fun and welcoming Workaway stay.

Kazusa was with us for a short week and a pleasure to host. He came with a big smile and possitive energy. We had really nice conversations and could exchange from culture to culture. That was really nice 👍💖 Kazusa helpt me in the garden with the spring-cleanup, pruning 2 trees, dismanteling a woodconstruction, sawing a lightsenso-protection. He has a wonderfull workingspirit and goes for it. Beginner DIY eager to learn and taking it serious. He used his free time to discover the area and could find out everything himself. Enjoyed the city of Utrecht, walking arround and enjoying the sunrise above the fields. And took the bike for discovering Laren and the area. He obviously enjoyed discovering new area's and meeting new peoples. He was a joy to host and I can recommend him really to other hosts!

Emmy stayed with us here and brought such a calm, creative energy with her. She painted beautiful murals on our bathroom walls, and honestly, she transformed the whole space. Her artwork added character, warmth, and a special handmade touch that our guests will enjoy for a long time. She worked independently, was very sincere with her work, and always had a positive attitude. We truly appreciated her creativity and dedication. Thank you, Emmy, for leaving a piece of your art and heart here with us. You are always welcome back 💚

I stayed with Claudia and Volker for 14 days and had a wonderful time there. From the very beginning, I felt very comfortable and welcome. The accommodation (a wooden house) is very nice, cozy, and private. It has everything you need and much more. In the lower part of the wooden house, there is a small kitchen with everything you need to cook and a bathroom. The property is beautiful, and you can sit in your own little garden area and look out at the ocean. The area is ideal for enjoying the peace and quiet and going on beautiful hikes. There is a nice café and a bus stop in the village of Las Tricias. Volker was kind enough to take me shopping or bring me things when I needed them. And Claudia conjures up delicious baked goods and meals, which she is happy to share. The work is very doable, varied, and a lot of fun. My tasks included: weeding, sweeping leaves, pruning shrubs and vines, cleaning and painting walls, painting the small bathroom in the wooden house, and cleaning the pool. It was always great to see what you had accomplished at the end of the day. The working hours were approximately from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., but could be arranged flexibly if necessary. Claudia and Volker are very nice people with whom I had great conversations. Thank you also for the lovely outing with Claudia and the nice pizza evening. All in all, I had a great time that went by way too fast, and I can only recommend this Workaway on this beutiful island. Thank you so much for your warmth and hospitality, and I hope to see you again! Big hugs.

Evan is a fun, considerate, hard working journeyman who joined a two week working bee / retreat. We shared great moments of conversation, music, meditation, poetry and on the job fun. Ever ready to help, learn and share, he was a pleasure to host. I highly recommend Evan.

We've been at Winny's for one month and a half between January and February and it's been really a wonderful experience! Actually, it was the first big workaway experience for the both of us, so we basically "grew" together in this, learning gradually to know each other and how to manage the daily routine, the work and the free time. Winny was really kind with us since the very beginning, warm, welcoming and super nice and funny! We shared nice hikes, meals, movie nights and beautiful moments together, as well as jokes and stories about our adventures and our lives. We were also invited twice to have lunch with her friends, which was really nice, a true pleasure for us meeting each of them, chatting, listening to their stories and playing games. About the job, Winny always made sure that it wasn't too tough or overwhelming. In the first part of our staying, we were asked mainly to take care about the dogs while Winny was away, to cut the wood for the fire and to keep the house clean. In the second part of our experience, when the weather got better, we began to work in the garden and in the surrounding land, which is really huge, so with much to do: trimming, pruning, planting, decorating, etc. But it was such a satisfaction to see the improvements! About the daily routine, we were working usually 4-5 hours per day, but in a flexible way, and in the weekend we had the chance to explore the area, which is amazingly beautiful, close to mountains, beaches and historical cities such as Tarragona! Beautiful is also Winny's house, a huge finca off-grid surrounded by olive trees and pines, with a comfortable apartment upstairs where we stayed. Taking care of the dogs was not a problem at all, because they are all really friendly and sweet, and they accepted easily our dog Moka as part of the family. Kimy, Mali, Neliah, Django, Joy... We will miss each of them truly a lot! Now it's so weird not having all of them around, not seeing Moka playing wildly with Kimy while Mali barks with jelousy at them and Neliah trays to jump into the fray, not having Django begging you to throw some stone, not welcoming Joy after her daily hunting... We are truly grateful to Winny for her hospitality, kindness and trust, and we hope to meet her and her sweet dogs again in the future, possibly very soon! In the meanwhile, we will truly keep all of them in our memories and in our hearts. Whenever you need help, Winny, just tell us and we will be more than happy to come!

I highly recommend Kai. She was a delight to host. She is very easy to get on with and her language skills are impressive. She quickly grasped what needed to be done and worked well on her own. It was cold and wet for most of the time she was with us, however, this did not deter her . We would have her stay again without question. Thanks Kai, and good luck with your studies.

We spent 10 days helping Will clean up after the renovation of his chalets, which are amazingly located just 2 minutes from the sea and less than 10 minutes from the main street. We completely fell in love with Cherating — its beauty, the palm trees and ocean views, the river, the cozy cafés, the delicious food, and especially the friendly people. Even though it’s a small town, it has such a special charm and an incredible vibe where you can really feel the local life, beach culture, and surf spirit. Will is an excellent host — kind, communicative, always smiling, and even open to listening to our ideas and opinions to help improve the project 🙂 We truly tried to give our best, and seeing the place slowly take shape made us feel like we contributed our small grain of sand. We would definitely come back. Thank you, Will, for your great energy and kindness! Best of luck with the project 😊

As it was my first time in Denmark, I was a bit nervous. However, the host was patient and helped me a lot with my English. It was a precious experience being surrounded by many cute animals. I really enjoyed the peaceful environment. I highly recommend them! I sent you an illustration to thank you. Please take a look if you like! It may have ended up in your spam again.

Annegien was a fantastic volunteer - enthusiastic, hard working, proactive and positive. On top of her excellent work helping with tasks like DIY, animal care and cleaning, she was a fun, friendly addition to the household (and an excellent baker - I recommend the lime drizzle cake!). I wish her the best of luck on the rest of her travels!

Thank you, Gaby and Helen, for sharing your project and your visions about this place! It was overall a nice, but also challenging experience. I was looking for a volunteer opportunity during the wintertime, and Helen replied to me, and it was easy to communicate and organize to arrive. The house was undergoing a recent move, and there was plenty of work to do. After two weeks, it looked completely different from the beginning, and the warmth inside made able to spend time in the living room and have dinner together. At this time, the garden staff had to mostly weed and harvest the last radishes and spinach (very delicious). I could see the improvement at the end of the volunteering and how can look in the future. I hope it's gonna be better and better in this place, and each human being will leave a piece and contribute and generate hope in this world.

Vanessa and Javi are absolutely wonderful souls, always a smile on their face, always grateful and enjoying new experiences! They stayed with us in our former farm in Montenegro and helped us immensely with garden and animal duties. It was always a pleasure to share time and meals with them! We would take them back anytime with no hesitation, and those who will host them will be lucky! Alexandra

Nozomi is a wonderful person and most likely actually an angel. She has stayed here during one of the busiest weeks of the year and I really can't thank her enough for all she has done to help me. From gardening, to cooking delicious meals, teaching me Japanese and assisting me in organizing a social event, she has always been extremely sweet and ready to help. She warmed the house with her kindness and made everyone in the team feel comfortable. Thank you so much for everything, I hope we meet again!

Marcel stayed at my place for a little over a month from November until mid December and he was really a great help in and around the house and the terrain. There were still tomatoes ripening in the greenhouse when he arrived, but many of the green ones didn't manage to finish ripening, so he looked into recipes to process green tomatoes. This is an aspect that I really enjoyed: Marcel will look into stuff, look up recipes and then try these, usually with a twist of himself. He is quite creative with food, and loved what you can do with cooking pear + wine + blackberries and, because we're in Belgium, chocolate! Marcel has a positive outlook on life and is very open minded. During his stay he did a ton of work, literally: I had started working on filling gabions with rocks from the terrain, which he largely finished, but we're talking about at least 3 cubic meter of rock that had to be placed in these gabions like tetris blocks, which he completed meticulously. I would definitely recommend Marcel as a workawayer, great conversations and a great sense of humor.

What can I say about this experience? I stayed at this farm in February, and it was truly unforgettable. The work is physically demanding, but that’s actually a positive thing because you really feel like you’re working hard and doing it for all the animals in the sanctuary. The animals are incredibly cute, and they definitely make you laugh. The workday starts at 9:30 a.m. and finishes around 1:30–2:00 p.m. Then we have lunch and start again at 3:00 p.m. until about 4:30–5:00 p.m. Each day, a specific work area is assigned, and you focus on that area for the day. The best part of this experience is the other volunteers. I was lucky enough to meet truly amazing people. Everyone had different stories and came from different places — it felt like discovering the whole world. Spending evenings together around the table, eating or playing cards, was really wonderful. There were about 15 of us volunteers, and everyone was kind, friendly, and respectful, so there was always a great atmosphere. If you’re looking for a place to have an unforgettable experience, I truly recommend it. The people you meet here make all the difference and, in my opinion, turn it into one of the best places you could ever go. Thanks to all the staff — if I had had more time, I would definitely have stayed longer!

Melissa and Mark were the best hosts I've stayed with so far. I felt like part of the family, the work was enjoyable, and Mark often took me to cool places in the area. In the Evenings there was always enough time for excellent meals together, good conversations, games, or movies. Communication was flawless, and they always asked for my opinion and addressed any issues openly. The Southern Highlands are a wonderful change of scenery from the coast and well worth a visit. I highly recommend staying with Melissa and Mark, and I miss Murphy the puppy! Cheers Manuel

I stayed with Josie for about 10 days, and it was a wonderful experience! From the very first moment I arrived, they were incredibly kind and welcoming. The work was very enjoyable for me and mainly involved pruning olive trees or, if it was raining, helping with household tasks either in their home or in their son’s house. The work was never too demanding, and whenever necessary, they were always very understanding. From a work perspective, I’m very satisfied, especially because the schedule was really comfortable. In the middle of the morning, they would always offer a delicious cup of tea or coffee and a nice break. If you come here, don’t worry about the food — Josie is an amazing chef! You will never be disappointed, as she prepares a wide variety of dishes from all over the world, and they are absolutely delicious. On my last day before leaving, they even made sandwiches for my journey (thanks again!!!). The location of the house is truly beautiful if you love nature. In the afternoons after work, I would always go for walks with the other volunteers or by myself, and I completely fell in love with the place. There are beautiful trails, and the mountains are absolutely stunning, with magnificent colors. The town is also very charming, and there’s a lovely river where you can relax. Josie and Barry are truly fantastic hosts who treat you extremely well. They are also very interesting people who will share many incredible stories with you. That said, if you’re thinking about coming, I would definitely recommend it — you won’t regret it!
