We loved having Jingman stay with us, she is very attentive and the first one up to get stuck in to daily tasks with attention to detail. . We loved that Jingman made our cats a priority both when we were home and away.. Any Communication difficulty was easily overcome with a translator app as she was keen to learn new words and practiced English. We were very glad to give Jingman an opportunity in Newcastle and seeing her come back after her day out with excited smile and joy, and we loved sharing the waterways with her. Steven didn’t hesitate to go looking for her make sure she got the right train to make her journey easier. Team work makes the dream work right ? ,! He is my better half for sure. The girls enjoyed painting together, Jingman and the team made good use of the extra free time we often give finishing earlier than expected.. on this Occassion shared a room and was a thoughtful room mate. , just delightful all round , fitting in seamlessly from day one. We wish her many more adventures. And equally warm connections.

We had very good times at Els's place. She gave us good travel information, took good care of us and we have enjoyed our accommodation a lot. A beautiful little lodge, with outside kitchen and semi outside bathroom. We've done several tasks in the garden and the house. After that we had many nice walks in the river and up the mountains. We also enjoyed our trip to the sea a lot. It is a remote place where you can enjoy nature a lot. Definitely a good place to support and hear all the nice stories and travel info Els has to share. Thank you for having us and many many good wishes from us.

The lovely, wonderful, one-and-only Shushila let me stay with her for five weeks while I had the opportunity to do some work for a local waka ama maker. She was actually gone for the middle weeks visiting a friend so I essentially house-sat for her, which included weeding invasives from the backyard bush, and looking after her three goats and six chickens. Shushila has a beautiful property overlooking the ocean, and she took me swimming my first day (side note: she is so strong! I hope to be like that when I grow up!) at one of the many beautiful beaches nearby. Before she left, she also gave me many suggestions of walks in the area (there are many!) and I was able to enjoy my time in this area of Aotearoa very much. For a place to stay, delicious food, good conversation, and an introduction to new goat and chicken friends, thank you so much, Shushila. <3

This place was such an unexpected surprise for me. The area is so quiet, I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy it but it ended up being such a great reset for me. The work is really relaxed, one of the easiest volunteering I've ever done in my life. A bed and three meals a day in exchange for socialing with the guests (welcoming guests, volleyball, game nights, etc.) I taught yoga on the side which was also a really nice experience for me, to be able to hone in on my teaching. It is a super tranquil place where the staff is super friendly and will speak to you in Spanish if you'd like to practice. There's not much else to do but to read a book, go for a walk, go for a swim and relax your nervous system. Thank you Matteo and Briana, as well as the rest of the staff for making this one of the best volunteering experiences I've had in a while.

Sandrine and Charly have cozy home with dogs and cats in peaceful and beautiful countryside. It was comfortable to stay with their very nice family. I did help with the gardening, mostly trim the trees and rake the leaves.

We had a really special time with Pavel. We were able to help with many different and interesting projects and learned a lot. Our working schedule was really free but the instructions were always clear so it was perfect. Sometimes we worked independent and other times pavel joined us to help out (always with a smile on his face while working). In general we felt really welcome and we had everything we needed to feel comfortable. We spent some very pleasent evenings together and got along great with everyone and the lovely dogs. Although we sadly didn’t get to meet saskia we are sure that it could only be even better with her. We would recommend this place if you are able to do physical labour and have no problem with being in the beautiful but a bit lonely countryside.

It was great to have Pablo with us. We helped us a lot with his work and all the exchange about essencial oil knowlegde. Come back any time you want :)

We had such a wonderful experience hosting Anouk at our dog rescue. She was truly a pleasure to have as part of our team. From the very beginning, she was easygoing, kind, and genuinely caring—not only toward us, but especially toward the animals and the community. She is hardworking and never hesitated to step in wherever help was needed. Whether it was daily cleaning tasks, feeding, walking, or spending extra time comforting sick puppies, she approached everything with patience, compassion, and dedication. Her calm and gentle nature made a noticeable difference, particularly with the more sensitive or shy animals. She took initiative and was easily able to work independently in caring for the animals and projects on the house. Anouk has truly been a valuable part of our rescue. We are very grateful for the time she spent with us, we hope she returns here again, and would absolutely recommend her to any future host. She would be an asset to any project she joins.

It made everything so much easier! The cat was an absolute sweetheart, and I had the best time with her. Your home is beautiful and cozy, and I felt super safe during my stay. This was my very first workaway and I'm so glad it was at Suzan and Jamie's place. I felt so welcomed as soon as I arrived. Suzan is very kind, super organized and a pleasure to work with. The accommodation was lovely, the breakfast delicious, and the work very fair and satisfying. I did a mix of outdoor work, some reception work, a website review and occasionally helped out with breakfast. I enjoyed all the work, and especially liked working outside with Conero Jose, who was very patient despite my limited spanish. Due, Suzan and Jamies' beloved chocolate Labrador was a frequent and welcomed companion while working in the garden. Waking up on a banana plantation and coffee farm each morning was absolute bliss, and seeing some of the coffee production process was a real treat for me! The farm is close to hikes, tourist activities and only a short 15 minute tuk tuk ride to the town. I stayed in a shared tent, with an outdoor bathroom right next door, it was super cosy and modern. I would like to thank Suzan and Jamie for offering me this workaway opportunity, I thoroughly enjoyed everyday not just the work and being able to connect with the beautiful land but also getting the chance to work with some wonderful people. Thank you Suzan, Jamie, Conero Jose, Monica, Blanca, and of course Due. I would volunteer here again and would recommend it to others.

This has probably been one of the best international experiences I’ve ever had. Not just because of the work, but because Brazil is a wonderful country for a cultural exchange—the people are incredibly kind, the food is delicious, and there are so many places to explore. The work consists of teaching English to both children and adults throughout the academic semester. The students are lovely and eager to share their culture with you; you'll learn so much from them and your Portuguese will improve remarkably fast through these interactions. The school is located in a small, charming town in the state of São Paulo, about 3 hours from the capital and close to Sorocaba. Despite its size, there’s plenty to do: parks, cultural activities, and even waterfalls. I spent a lot of my free time at "the club" using the gym and taking swimming lessons—I highly recommend making the most of the membership! The housing provided is a very nice flat with all the amenities, located about 15–20 minutes from the school. Pro-tip: Keep in mind that Piedade is a hilly town, so be prepared to strengthen those legs while walking! Everyone at the school is super friendly. Carol and her family go above and beyond to ensure you have everything you need. They are supportive from the moment you arrive until the very end (and even after!). Don’t hesitate to choose this Workaway if you enjoy teaching English and want to truly immerse yourself in a local Brazilian environment. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me. My boyfriend Eric and I stayed for 6 weeks in January/February 2026 at Nina and Jochens place. Since it was winter, there’s was not so much to do in the garden, but we helped with household chores and isolated a little hut for them. We had a really peaceful, calm and restful time in the forest. We went on hikes, walks and visited Trondheim. And we went ice skating with them on a frozen lake, which was so much fun and very special. I also saw four moose which was an amazing experience! :) Nina, Jochen and their children are really amazing people. They are very good at communicating, are very empathetic and open and we felt very welcomed in their little paradise. I also really loved that in their house and around it there are many beautiful and colourfully painted patterns and paintings they did! 🌈💫 I’m sure we’ll see each other again, especially when we will also live in Norway in the future. And maybe I’ll come back this year and help in the garden and learn more about permaculture. I really recommend doing a workaway with them and wanted to also thank them again for that wonderful opportunity, it was excactly what I needed! ❤️

Oh the wonderful, amazing Sabine 😊 How fortunate we were to have found each other. Sabine was absolutely fantastic 🤩 She looked after my house and my cat during the worst winter on record. Sabine took it all in her stride, never complained, never panicked, just simply dealt with each problem as it arose (and there were many). I am eternally grateful, and would not hesitate for a second to recommend her. Please come back soon, Squeaky misses you ❤️

Julien and Jeanne are a lovely couple from France i had the pleasure to host for one week. Together they make a perfect teamwork combining strength , precision, respect, and positive energy. During our week together we were working on a drywall and the results were amazing! Thank you guys again and hope to see you again :) !!

Sunny truly lives up to her name — she radiates positivity! She is simply incredible. It was a real pleasure having her by our side, both for the help she provided with tasks and for the wonderful person she is. Having Sunny on your team will undoubtedly be a real gift.

I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better host and experience. From the very first day, I felt truly welcome and comfortable here. Francesco is an exceptional host – attentive, kind, intelligent and genuinely good-hearted. He always checked in to see how I was feeling and whether I needed anything, and at the same time he gave me space and independence, which I appreciated deeply. I felt trusted and free, not just accommodated. He is also an amazing cook! Sharing meals together was one of my favorite parts of staying here. There is something very special about food prepared with care and passion and it made this place feel even more like home. Spending time with him, with Orso and with Calimero made this experience unforgettable. Orso is such a wonderful dog – loving, loyal and full of personality. I already know I will miss him incredibly. And Calimero, the sweetest little cat, truly feels like part of the pack. Being around them brought so much warmth and joy into my days. I also had the opportunity to visit the surrounding areas, including Palermo, which made the experience even richer and more inspiring. The location of the house is truly ideal – you can walk to the town, but you can also reach the forest on foot. It offers the perfect balance between nature and daily life, peace and connection. Another thing I appreciated greatly was having enough time and calm space for my own work and for reading. I could fully focus when I needed to, but also enjoy meaningful conversations and shared moments. That balance meant a lot to me. Overall, I rate this experience far above average. It was not just a stay, it was a meaningful chapter filled with respect, warmth, freedom, good food, inspiring surroundings and beautiful company. I am deeply grateful and would wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone looking for something genuine and special. Thank you for everything 🤍
