We stayed 10 days with Ömür, Ayla, their sons (Deniz and Kuzey) and all their animals (we loved the puppies !!). It was a fantastic experience to help Ömür gardening, planting lavandas, taking care of olive trees (burning old olive branches, spreeding organic fertilizers). We also spend a great time during breakfast and dinners with all the super food made by Ayla (bass fish, pohaça, börek) and talking a lot after dinner about cultures, way of lifes... We also went to Pergama with Ömür and Ayla to visit the ancient site. It was only great memories !!

I'm so grateful I got to spend two months with this amazing family, love them so much!! I had a great time with them all. Kate is an incredible person, Lila is so silly and funny, Sacha is brilliant ;) AND the dogs are the cutest, Chapo and Rosie are completely different so you need to be good with dogs but they were so great. Plans changed a few times but Kate made sure I felt comfortable and we always found the way to make it work for everyone. Highly appreciated. I got to live in SF, Napa, Novato... I need to go back to keep exploring CA!😜 Overall it was a dream experience and I cannot recommend this family enough!! Feel free to reach out if you are considering staying with them :)

My stay with Melis, Mustafa, Kenan y Kuzey in Antalya was originally meant to be just two weeks, but due to the situation in the Middle East, I wasn’t able to travel as planned. They were incredibly understanding and kindly let me stay until I could sort out my flight, extending my time with them to about a month. I helped out with daily tasks around the house, and even though I’m not the best cook, they were always patient and supportive. There were moments when we faced a bit of a language barrier, but with patience, we always managed to understand each other. At night, I had to work online, and they fully respected that. Whenever I was able to join them, I did. I’m truly grateful for their flexibility, kindness, and for making me feel so welcome during such an uncertain time. (Melis, you are such a hardworking person, and I truly admire you. Thanks to you, I learned how to prepare Turkish tea and fish) :) Anyway I'm sorry if you expected more from me, I'm not a big chef :(

My stay was fantastic and definitely highly recommended. After spending three weeks among the plants and with the chickens, I honestly didn’t want to go back home. Johannes’ place felt very pleasant and like a second home. This thanks to a certain sense of calmness, peace and freedom. It was truly enjoyable to be on the land and to work in the garden. I not only gained energy from Johannes, the dog and nature, but also from the work itself. Since I was there during the first three weeks of March, the work mainly consisted of repotting plants. This had a meditative effect, and after a while it brought me a sense of calm. Johannes himself is a very good and caring host. I would describe him as an energetic person with a wonderful passion for nature and his work. During my stay, Johannes generously shared his knowledge about plants, gardening, off-grid living in Portugal, raising chickens and his daily life. I also got to hear many interesting stories about his adventures and I got to join him here and there on trips to markets and supply runs. This I highly appreciated. Additionally, I was able to connect with other people through Johannes. He is very social and interacts with many people, which meant there was plenty of contact beyond the boundaries of his land. For example, we were invited by the neighbors, I met interesting people at the market and I was able to experience authentic connections with Portugal and its locals. This made the cultural exchange even more meaningful and took it to a higher level. I had my own spot in the bus just outside the property. Having this personal space allowed me to retreat whenever I felt the need. The bus was a comfortable place with a lovely bed and lots of space. In the mornings, you’d wake up to the sound of birds and sunlight streaming through the windows. All in all, I’m very happy I went. I'm thankful that I was able to experience so much, that I got to know Johannes and that I got to see how someone can transform a piece of land into such a beautiful paradise. I will definitely come back one day! (o^v^o)

this has been one of my best traveling experiences ever. it was my first workaway and i couldn't imagine nothing better. the host family is super welcoming and nice. the space is beautiful and super close to an amazing climbing spot. the work is structured and well explained, since Camilla takes care of working along all the workawayers and show them around. i also think she has an amazing instinct regarding the selection of the people: we had such an amazing and coherent group of people that made the experience truly amazing. i can't suggest this experience enough, if you are looking for some handy work, lot of laughs, nice people and amazing food this is the place for you. thank you Cami, Will, Claudia and Marco for your hospitality, wish to see you soon.

Hello, my name is Paul, I stayed for one month helping at the university, and this experience truly changed my life. I first came to visit some students I had met while volunteering in a nearby village. When I arrived at the university, I received such a warm welcome that I decided to delay my departure from Cambodia and stay longer. I met so many kind and curious students, eager to learn about the world despite living in the Khmer countryside. They welcomed me warmly to their beautiful campus, surrounded by rice fields. They shared their culture, brought me to local events, spent time with me, and were always interested in learning about my part of the world. In return, I helped them improve their English and shared some of the subjects I had studied at university. When I arrived, the staff helped me decide what to teach based on my knowledge—so don’t worry, the level is very manageable! After 13 months of traveling in Asia, I can honestly say that my time in Cambodia was the most joyful, intense, and meaningful experience of my journey. It was a perfect exchange. The students and staff were incredibly kind to me. I even spent two weeks helping them set up a Workaway profile because they truly deserve more volunteers. I think it is important to spend at least two to three weeks there to get to know the students and to give them proper teaching. To organize the volunteering, you will be in contact with Sambo, the vice rector of the school (he's a kind person). He’s not completely fluent in English/technologies, but everything works out smoothly with a bit of flexibility ;) I sincerely hope others will have the chance to experience something as special as this. I truly truly recommend this place!

Dolev is an amazing person—super helpful, always positive, and a pleasure to have around. He really enjoyed surfing and brought great energy to our place. On top of that, he’s genuinely funny and incredibly easy to live with, which made the whole experience even better. I’d highly recommend him to any host looking for a reliable and fun volunteer!

Seran siempre bienvenidos! Un gran abrazo a los 2

We hosted Dodi for about two weeks in March and it was a super positive experience! He immediately integrated with our family and the other volunteers and we had beautiful convivial days together. Edoardo is a very nice guy, clear in his communication and very active in the jobs that have been proposed. He helped clean the terraces and cut wood, in the daily chores of the house during meals and then in the garden to prepare the land (lots of manure wheelbarrows haha) and plant the new summer vegetables. He is a very smiling person and always trying to find a common ground or laugh about something, very important skills when you are in a group! Super recommended, can't wait to meet Dodi again!! Grazie!!

I spent five valuable weeks with Pedro and Lucre, and the other volunteers who stayed at the same time. They had a wonderful place to park in the garden with my motorhome that could connect to the electricity. I learnt a lot of Spanish while I was there, as they are very used to teach Spanish vocabulary and grammar to workawayers who stay. I also learnt many delicious recipies from Lucre, and she is very considerate of people's food preferences. The work in the garden was enjoyable, fair and I learnt a lot about the principles Pedro has to create such a beautiful garden. It can be tricky to do the tasks in the way he does, and he gives a lot of instructions. Pedro and Lucre took me along with another workawayer to attend a local event, meet their friends in the next town, and to play bingo with them. This was really fun. On a free day Pedro also arranged a hiking trip to some magnificent caves in the area, and taught me a lot about the history and plants there. The surrounding area is perfect for a workaway: it is close to a small town where you can go to a market and other shops, you can easily get to bigger cities such as Valencia and Alicante, and there are nice running, hiking and biking routes. So if you're looking for a place to learn Spanish and to learn about gardening, this is definitely the place!

Alba Maria, I have to say—working with you is an absolute game-changer. You bring such a rare combination of creativity and precision to the table. Your ability to see the big picture while sweating the small details is what made this project so successful. Thank you for not just meeting the standard, but for raising the bar entirely. I’m genuinely inspired by how you handle challenges with such grace and determination

Paul's communication was really good. He helped us a lot at the university by giving some time to finish the workaway together. He's nice and had a great behavior. We recommend him.

I had a wonderful time with the family and felt very welcomed from the start. Nora was especially supportive and always helped me whenever I wasn’t sure about something. Of course, life with five children can be stressful, but everyone was so kind that I truly enjoyed my time there. Although the first days were a bit challenging, the trust the family placed in me helped me settle in. Overall, it was a great experience that I’m very grateful for, would definitely recommend and do again.

Staying at Hannah's place is an experience I'd recommend to anyone - she is so good for giving you a taste of what life is like in this corner of Norway by inviting you to join her on her day to day life, which is something I really appreciated, getting to see the culture of a place on day to day level. The work is interesting and varied and the hours are very fair. Hannah is also direct and good at communicating what needs to be done, and makes it easy for you to ask questions when you're unsure of something - even though she honestly seems to know everything about everything, she's very willing to share that knowledge and is very open to listening to your opinion too. There's lots of beautiful walks here, and Hannah has lots of interesting books to dive into. This is a great place for learning how to be happy in your own company, but I do recommend bringing some hobby stuff with you to keep you entertained on rainy days! All in all, a really great experience that I hope to come back to someday! Thanks Hannah :)

My time as a volunteer with Heidi and Martin has been very special to me. They are a very kind and wise couple. From the beginning, they made me feel comfortable and part of the team. Working on a farm and outside, the tasks are often physical, but it is always possible to do by yourself. The instructions are clear and simple, which I really liked. The most important thing is to enjoy working in nature—if you do, you will really enjoy it. Heidi and Martin are also people you can easily talk to and make fair agreements with. There is also time to rest and enjoy some free time. The garden is beautiful and very big; I could walk, write, do yoga, play with Bilma (a very affectionate and intelligent dog), and go cycling. The food was very good—homemade and healthy. Heidi puts a lot of love into everything she does! :) If you want to go somewhere to learn about sustainable living, plants, farming, and more, this is the place for you. Heidi and Martin know a lot and are always happy to share and listen. I hope to come back someday. Once again, thank you for everything!

Jördis stayed with us for three weeks sept-okt 2025 and helped us in our horse-farm in Sweden. She is a nice and polite girl and she did the tasks we asked for. She was a quick learner with the horses, she learned how to put a saddle on and other things, just to look once how we did. She is a vegetarian and cooked, and sometimes she did some experiments in the kitchen. (I never forget the special pancakes you offered us to try, with a lot of cinnamon in! 😊 ) Jördis have a driver license and brought her own car, which made it possible for her to go on her own little adventure in the surroundings in her spare time.

Phillipe has a really peaceful place surrounded by forest, no neighbours to bother you. He has many projects on the go and you can choose what you spend your time on. You have the option to bring your own food and then be on your own schedule. I like his style of working with nature not against it, and everything is valued as a resource not a waste product. If you like hiking there are many trails, a wild river and waterfalls nearby. Best bring your own car as there are no services nearby. I came for a few weeks and stayed a few months

I have spent 4 months here and it has been a phenomenal experience. This is the kind of opportunity I was looking for when I first joined workaway. The work is meaningful and seams to be effective. The people are friendly, and good at what they do, and you get to know the local people in the villages you work in. (often because you are working with them as well) The group do a good job of teaching you the skills you need, and are good at explaining what’s going on if you ask. If you want to get some new skills, improve on old once, meet and work with great people, and get to know Nepal off the tourist track this is probably the program for you.
