We had a really great experience staying with Serena and felt welcome from the start. The food was a big highlight — healthy, varied, and always delicious. We really appreciated the effort put into cooking balanced meals. The house is beautiful, and we had a very comfortable bedroom with our own private bathroom. It a dream Workaway setup surrounded by nature, horses and sheep. Communication about the daily jobs was clear and straightforward. We were given guidance on what needed to be done but also trusted to manage our own hours depending on the tasks for the day, which we appreciated. When Jonathan got sick with a fever, Serena was very kind and understanding, encouraging him to rest and recover. That meant a lot to us. She is a positive person with an interesting life story, and we enjoyed our conversations. The location is also great — a safe and lovely place to stay while being close to Auckland to explore. We’re very grateful for the experience and would happily recommend staying here.

Bec, Damian and Emily were so nice and welcoming, I am so happy they were my first workaway experience as they are great hosts. They asked me to clean the stables out, which was the main task, and then i mostly picked up sticks in the garden and trimmed some hedges. Their dogs were so cute and so friendly. I would recommend bec and damian's place if you love animals. The room was big, the bed was comfortable and the chandelier was beautiful!

Mel and Geoff seriously gave me the most impactful experience I could have ever imagined! While Geoff was usually busy with farm work, Mel really took me in as her American daughter. She showed me all around, including day trips to the Bush, beach, around town, and made sure to let me meet as many people and see the inside as many local houses as possible. We shared almost every meal together. I made so many local friends, went on daily walks with Daisy, and got to learn a bit about farm life. Their paddocks are just the most beautiful land I've ever seen, and I was happy to help out with lots of basic house chores, like cleaning windows, sanding/oiling tables, and cleaning up after meals. This was the best few weeks ever and the best first workaway experience i could have had. I would recommend no doubt! Thankyou thankyou Mel and Geoff one billion times!!!! Love, Dezi

I would recommend everyone to come here as a volunteer. The place has so many kind and lovely people, and this experience can help you gain valuable hostel working experience! Kuala Lumpur’s weather is quite humid, so remember to bring suitable clothes and sunscreen. Thank you Alex and Zen and everyone, for giving me this opportunity to volunteer at your hostel. It was an amazing time — we worked, played, and enjoyed every moment together. Thank you for your kindness to me. I truly hope we will meet again soon.

Laura and I really enjoyed our stay with Logan and Ann! We spent a week with them while shopping for apartments in Charlottesville back in October, and it couldn’t have gone any better. Their house is adorable, and their neighborhood is quiet and quaint, and we were both impressed by the garden, which is absolutely gorgeous even in the fall! We enjoyed swapping stories with Logan and Ann in the evenings, and we loved Logan’s cooking. Our brief stay was a great experience, and we'd highly recommend them as hosts!

Dear Parastoo, Thank you so much for your beautiful and kind words. It truly means a lot to me. 🥰 We are so happy that you enjoyed your experience here and that you felt supported during your time with us. You were such a wonderful volunteer — kind, responsible, and genuinely caring with the children. The students really enjoyed learning with you, and we were very grateful to have you as part of our community. I’m also so glad you had the chance to connect with the other volunteers and experience Thai culture. You are always welcome back anytime — our doors are open for you. Wishing you all the best in your next journey. 💛 Thank you again for everything.” — Mint

It was a real pleasure to have Rodrigo. He helped and worked a lot. Moving a fence or building a shed for poultry, painting walls or restoring furniture, everthing was done properly and exceeding our expectations. He integrated well with the family, respected the house rules and our intimacy. We had a lot of interesting exchanges. So great help and a great person. If you have a chance, we recommend him, you won't regret it.

Janette and Colin experienced their first Workaway position with our family in Aotearoa, New Zealand. Very quickly they assimilated with us. Their self-motivation and 'Can-do' attitude was impressive. When they had completed assigned tasks, they found others. It was a real privilege to host this open, energetic, enthusiastic recently-retired couple from York, UK. Retirees seeking an idea of "what's next ?" could well follow their example . We wish them continuing good health and many new adventures in their retirement. Thank you Janette for the timeless gift of your artwork. As soon as you drove off Janette and Colin, we missed your presence.

The experience with Andres and his family was just amazing. We helped them out for one week and we felt like home for this time. You eat with them, you can exchange experiences and you can give your one creativitity into the project. It's not just like "do this and that", it's more of a brainstorming on ideas and then you'll get to work together or alone. I can highly recommend!

We stayed a week at Basil, Ananda and Gigi's working at the community garden, painting, helping out neighbours, working in the garden and more! The work didn't ever really feel like work because it was always interesting and with great people. Basil helped structured our days really nicely with around 4h of work in the morning and the rest of the day off. We felt instantly very at home and were always invited to early beach swims, walks and community activities. Through this stay we made connections with other lovely people in the town of Denmark that lead to further work and stays... so good! The room itself was so lovely and the house is filled with beautiful art and without exception, great food. We always enjoyed interesting conversation, chatting about common world views and sharing different experiences, Basil and Ananda are inspiring and generous people that are a pleasure to live with. Can't thank you both enough, highly highly recommend:) See you next time I'm in Denmark!

Antonio and Lena are fantstic workawayers. Both worked hard at organised tasks around the farm and spontaneously cleaned up the kitchen, cooked and showed initiative. Both have done lots of volunteer work in various countries and various situations. They are an intelligent mature couple who fitted into our household with ease. Highly recommended.

At first I could tell that this type of work away experience was new for Kayla. But she was a fast learner and nothing was an issue for her. She learnt loads of farming skills like lawn mowing, garden maintenance pruning techniques, fruit and vegetable harvesting She also reupholstered our dinning room chairs and then sanded and replenished our bedroom dressers. Baked cookies 😋for our grandchildren and cooked some interesting meals for us😂🤣😂 All and all Kayla quickly became the newest member of our family. She has the most amazing smile that lights up a room and her laughter was infectious. She talked about to her Ugandan heritage as I spoke about my cultural identity and the similarities we commonly shared culturally. And that we are not worlds apart in our thinking. Kayla we are looking forward to you coming back to pick your phone up on your travels and you will always have a home away from home here with us. Ngā mihi aroha kia koe Kayla see you soon❤️❤️❤️

The visit to St. Thomas USVI and working on a sailboat rescue project with Tyler was an interesting, yet enjoyable, challenge. Tyler rescued a sailboat from being carted off to a landfill, which is where far too many items eventually find their way, sadly. The sailboat was in salvageable condition, but it would take much more expertise than what we could determine. The bilge had been soaked in oil and water, which was removed and the engine inspected. Due to extended exposure to the elements there was a lot of rust and corrosion. The work necessary would require professional reconditioning. We were able to make huge progress as far as remediation superficial tidying and troubleshooting. After making good progress with what we could, we determined the remediation would require more than what we were able to do. It was a fun project crawling in and out of spaces and places. It felt more like a treasure hunt than work. There was scuba gear and snorkel gear and just fun stuff somebody would expect on a sailboat. We were hoping to make it livable and sail/sea worthy and had to get real about where our expertise did not quite reach. I spoke to a couple old timers who suggested a massive undertaking. Tyler and I decided to step back for a deep look at the time and resources and decided it would be best to put the project on hold for the time being since there were complications. It would have been really rewarding to successfully accomplish the goal, but I think Tyler made the right decision to take a second look and put the project on hold. Tyler and Liz are incredible people and I really enjoyed my time with them, although it was short, about 10 days. Both Tyler and Liz are compassionate people and connected with the community. There was plenty of time to enjoy the view and nearby beaches.

Catherine stayed here with me and the other workawayers for two weeks and did such a great job helping around the house! All my house hasn't been sooo clean for ages! She worked completely independently and knew exactly what had to be done, taking care of everything from watering plants in the garden, walking the dogs, all kinds of different deep-cleaning chores in the house, treating us to self-made cake and so many more nice details. We also had a good time together sharing meals , conversations, sitting around the fireplace, she felt so comfortable around the other workawayers, the pets , so it was just a great , easygoing time with Catherine.

My experience at this place was just out of this world, I have done workaways for over a decade now but this hostel is special. The stay there was welcoming and I felt part of the family during my entire stay there. I loved the diversity there and their hands on approach to any guest's request or needs . Its a great place in Quito if you're looking for a serene environment to unwind and enjoy the city while alone meeting different people from around the world.

We had such a great experience at Will and Jessica's beautiful farm :) they are very kind hosts, we had many great conversations and it was really fascinating learning about the life they've set up in Ecuador. It was so interesting learning how to pick and process coffee up to the drying stage. The work was varied and never overly strenuous, working around 4-5 hours a day depending on the task. Will noticed that Jack enjoys building things so we got tasked with building a gate which was very thoughtful. Other work included moving a large amount of earth and fertilising the coffee trees. The cabin we stayed in was great and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. It was so relaxing falling asleep to the sounds of the nearby waterfalls. We were provided with so much food to cook with and different roasts of their coffee, which was delicious! The neighbours provide milk for 50c a litre, it's raw milk so we just pasteurised it before consuming and it was the best milk we've ever had! There's also a filter for drinking water. They have 3 dogs, Negri, Lucy and Zeus. They are very lively but adorable dogs, they would be waiting for us every morning by the front door. The views as well from the farm but even just outside our cabin were beautiful, sweeping mountains for as far as the eye could see. Jack spent some time fixing up and cleaning the cabin, especially the screens, and the hosts are really open to any improvements that you might want to make. There were mosquitos and no-see-ums on the farm during our time but plenty of insect repellent was provided. There was also plenty of old clothes in the cabin to use on work days and multiple sizes of Wellington boots. The Internet is a bit intermittent particularly in the evenings, so I'd recommend downloading movies/TV shows before arrival like we did. There is also no phone signal in the area so the WiFi will be the only means to communicate. Will was very clear and precise with how to get to the farm. We came from Quito, it took two busses and about 4 hours or so. They didn't cost too much and was easy to navigate. Cannot recommend this Workaway enough!
