"Brechje was much more than just a Workawayer to us; she became part of our family. She has a wonderful, cheerful nature and cared for everyone like a mother. She was incredibly generous, bringing us sweets and presents, and even treated us to dinner. Her departure was very emotional for all of us, and there were tears when she left. Beyond her kindness, she is a talented teacher who provided immense help to my students. We miss her dearly and truly hope she comes back to visit us one day. No words can thank her enough!"

Staying at Gustavo's farm was amazing, we had a very nice community vibe, always sharing delicious veggies food, and the work was quite diverse and entertaining. Gustavo is always trying to teach you things about permaculture and sustainable life and cares about you to not only doing the same things during all you stay. Aside of that, the farm is a very beautiful place, with old olives trees and beautiful nature surrounding. I really enjoyed the weeks I spent there and recommend it without any hésitation! See you soon :)

The only thing I regret about my stay with Sandro and Mara is that I couldn’t stay longer there. I’ve had many great experiences through my volunteer work, but this one was truly special! The stunning nature, the unique scenery of Lake Como, and the warmth of the whole family made my stay perfect. It was a joy to spend my time there and to help out as best I could. I assisted with small renovation tasks in the house and garden, while still having more than enough time to explore the lake and the surrounding mountains. Everything is very conveniently located: the bus stop, ferry terminal, hiking trails, and even Villa del Balbianello are all just around the corner. I also learned a lot about Italian culture and enjoyed many interesting conversations with the family. And if you ever find yourself alone, Millo, the lovable house cat, will keep you company, making sure to get his share of attention and trying to trick you into giving him extra food. I can highly recommend this Workaway experience to anyone! Just make sure to have enough time, as it really flies by. I want to sincerely thank the whole family for this extraordinary experience, and as promised, I will come back to visit sooner or later. I’m already looking forward to it!

We had a really good feeling from the first moment we saw Stefanie on our "interview" video call. What a bright, happy personality she has! The day she arrived in the hostel it felt like the whole place suddenly got happier, sunnier, and lighter! She's the type of person that really lights up the room, it's amazing to see. We did reception training and she got everything immediately, she has a lot of experience working in hostels before and you can tell. Stef is a super social butterfly who immediately made friends with the guests and the other volunteers, she was a natural talent at reception! But also, she's a fantastic yoga teacher which she did some classes for the hostel as well during sunsets, it was such an upgrade for the hostel and our guests loved it! She's super proactive, really doesnt like being bored so she will always find something to do or help around. She's great at housekeeping as well, making the beds, cleaning the bathrooms and kitchens, very efficient in everything she does basically and never showed a lazy attitude! Whenever Stef was on shift we knew that the hostel was in good hands, so we could relax also a little bit. Stef i think you know this but you really cary a big place in our hearts and you've made it to being part of our family as well 🫶 you will always have a home away from home, right here in Pucón! We're waiting for you with open arms ❤️ Yip Yip Yip xxxxx

Amanda and Daniel are wonderful hosts who strike the perfect balance between being warm and welcoming while also respecting your privacy and personal space. I deeply resonated with their vision for the community space they are building. Working alongside them gave me a real sense of purpose — it truly felt like we were creating something meaningful together for the future of the community. Amanda is incredibly curious and always eager to start conversations on all kinds of topics — culture, politics, society, and beyond. Thanks to her, I gained so many new perspectives and insights that I never would have encountered otherwise. Daniel took me along to a local volleyball circle, which was one of the highlights of my stay. His calm and gentle personality made it so easy to feel at home right away. On days off, Berlin is easily reachable for a day trip — just about an hour away, which is a great bonus. Meals were shared and prepared in turns, and with a wonderfully stocked kitchen full of spices and ingredients, it was a joy to get creative with cooking. And of course, their dog Rocky deserves a special mention — incredibly friendly and adorable, he brought so much warmth to every single day. All in all, it was a truly fulfilling and heartwarming experience. I am deeply grateful to Amanda and Daniel, and would wholeheartedly recommend them to any future workawayer.

Muchísimas gracias a Mariana y Jessy por todo! La única cosa puedo decir es que ellos tienen que añadir unas fotos nuevas del lugar porque es demasiado hermosa y las fotos ahora no le hacen justicia. I would highly recommend this hostel for anyone looking for a beautiful, chill hostel volunteer experience! I miss everyone already :(

I’m having a wonderful stay here, with a truly remarkable welcome the Farm. Nathalie is a very sociable person, with a deeply humanistic vision of the world and an exceptional passion for regenerative agriculture. It is very easy to work with her in the garden, even if you’ve never touched the soil before or taken care of chickens or ducks. You learn quickly, and she is very patient. The conversations are just as practical as they can be spiritual. As for Jérôme, who is both Mauritian and Australian, he is a geologist by profession. It becomes quite clear that the Anthropocene is not just a concept for him, but something he feels deeply connected to with very ecological vision. He is very patient, highly technical, and remarkably helpful. I’ve never heard him say no. (Well… almost never 😊) And yes, there is on the farm a rainwater-harvesting greenhouse currently under renovation that truly deserves the curiosity of all Workawayers. It is a unique type of greenhouse in the world [yes, yes], so don’t hesitate to come and see it for yourself.

My stay with Nihal and his family was great and a perfect way to start my Sri Lanka trip. I helped preparing food (which was delicious), learned a lot about Sri Lankan culture and Nihal took me around the village. Seeing the countryside and a small village was so interesting compared to the bigger cities in Sri Lanka. Thank you for having me :)

I spent June 2025 staying with Jesse and Tristan. It was one of the best experiences I’ve had whilst travelling. I learnt so much about both animals and plants. The scenery is stunning (lake, forest, village) and very peaceful. The warm and friendly atmosphere makes you want to get up every morning to collect the eggs. It’s a lovely place to be; I’d recommend it to anyone wanting to discover farm life and who’s prepared to get their hands dirty. Thank you to them for these shared moments, and I hope to see you very soon to discover lots more.

I had a truly beautiful experience at Indie World. I was very warmly welcomed for a few days, and I’m very grateful for that. Personally, I found parts of the experience emotionally challenging, as I’m quite sensitive when it comes to animals. Some of the animals there have suffered accidents. They are very well cared for, but they are still in pain, and that wasn’t easy for me. There were quite a few dogs who would whine or cry, and I found that part particularly difficult. At the same time, I found it incredibly meaningful to be able to care for dogs with disabilities. The infrastructure was still being developed and renovated when I arrived, specifically to improve accessibility for disabled dogs, which is truly remarkable. I stayed for a few days and did my best to help set up something that could support Indie World remotely going forward. A big thank you again to the whole team for such a warm and generous welcome.

I had such a fun, homely and relaxing experience staying with Emmy. Emmy is an absolute gem, such a kind, generous person with clear communication and so much energy and inspiration for creative projects all around the house and garden. I really enjoyed the quiet and peace of her place and loved cooking meals, weeding, helping with any odd jobs and learning about permaculture gardening practices. I left just as the garden was bursting into spring so it was really magical! I'd definitely recommend staying with Emmy, you'll feel safe, accepted and at home in no time. Emmy was so generous about sharing her time, space and experience and was a joy to be around. Thanks for having me Emmy, I really appreciated my stay and getting to know you 😊 😊

My first Workaway solo adventure couldn't have gone better. It was incredibly positive and exceeded my expectations. I spent about three weeks at this meditation center, during which I explored the fascinating world of meditation and practiced it. It was truly immersive and it has been an opportunity to rediscover myself without external influences, in a quiet and peaceful environment. Temple life was simple and genuine. The daily routine was various and volunteers' activities were interesting, engaging and sometimes physically demanding, but the Sunims gratitude was always a good reward. Thanks to all the lovely people I met during this special experience.

I had such a beautiful experience with my recent host, Johanna. She is genuinely kind, fair and thoughtful in the way she works with volunteers, which made everything feel balanced and respectful from the start. The space itself is incredibly special - peaceful, grounding, and full of healing energy. I loved sitting in the little waterfalls in the river in the afternoons trying to read (but usually being too captivated by the sights and sounds that I was unable to even turn a page!). The surrounding areas are perfect for quiet walks, reflection and reconnecting with yourself. I would absolutely recommend this stay to anyone who is looking for a peaceful, calm and genuinely positive experience! Thank you Johanna! You are a beautiful human. Until we meet again…

I stayed with Maira and Luke on very short notice after an uncomfortable experience at another Workaway, and I really appreciated how warmly they welcomed me. I immediately felt at ease in their home. I had my own room and the working hours were fair and flexible, usually around three hours in the morning and one hour in the evening. My tasks included general household help like cleaning, keeping the kitchen tidy and doing laundry. I also spent time with their daughter Munay while Maira was working from home and even helped design her room. We often shared meals together. Luke’s poached eggs were honestly legendary, and Maira taught me how to make empanadas. I also joined them on some trips, like Lobos Island and Carnival. The atmosphere was always relaxed and welcoming. I never felt pressured and communication was easy. I would definitely recommend staying with them and would happily come back anytime.

Cristina was willing, warm and wonderful. How lucky were we to have Cristina come into our lives. Challenged by language, but patient and open. Always tried her best. Honest and could be trusted. Shared physical labour with us in the garden. Thank you Cristina! Saw some of her art - oh my goodness, what talent! Unique style and really refreshingly beautiful.

Birthe has created a uniquely beautiful place. She is a very open, helpful, and reliable person. The dog and chickens are incredibly cute; I grew very fond of the dog. Named Loulou, she embodies independence, connection, and kindness. I felt safe and protected—what more could you want from a dog? For me, she was the perfect dog! My morning routine of feeding the chickens was always a wonderful way to start the day! On cooler days, I tended to the charming fireplace, gathering wood and lighting the fire. I discovered a great water source and had a fantastic experience of what it feels like to live self-sufficiently. Thank you, Birthe!
